Alentova, Vera Valentinovna (5 photos)

Turner, miner, sailor

On September 17, 1939, the father of the Menshov family, Vladimir Valentinovich, . We might not have known him as a talented director if not for his innate determination.

At school he fell just short of the gold medal and in 1957 he went to storm VGIK. It didn’t work out, and only he knows what he heard at home about this!..

Be that as it may, the guy drew conclusions: he went to work at the factory and at the same time began to comprehend the basics of art, as they say, “from the inside,” joining the auxiliary staff of the Astrakhan Drama Theater.

Then there were other positions, and they had nothing to do with art: I had to work as a miner in Vorkuta and as a sailor in Baku. But everything was not the same, and in 1961 Vladimir nevertheless entered the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio in the acting department.

Early years, youth

Vera Valentinovna was born in Kotlas, Arkhangelsk region, on February 21, 1942. Her grandmother and mother were actresses and worked in the theater.
His father was also an actor; he died when Vera was 4 years old. Then the family moved often. They lived in Ukraine, Altai, and Uzbekistan. The girl dreamed of becoming an actress, but her mother categorically objected. She wanted Vera to be a doctor. However, the girl failed her exams for medical school. She worked in production for a year.

In 1961, Alentova nevertheless went to enroll in theater school. She was accepted into the Moscow Art Theater, where she met Vladimir Menshov. Both were considered unpromising.

Under the strict leadership of Mikhail Romm

Teachers almost unanimously recognized him as unpromising. Frankly speaking, this did not add confidence. Vladimir's main achievement during his studies was his marriage to Vera Alentova .

Graduation from the Studio School dealt the first blow to the young family: there was no place for Vladimir in any theater in the capital. This was the first separation of the spouses: Vera was lucky to find a place in Moscow, and he was forced to leave, getting a job at the Stavropol Theater, where he first learned what directing was.

And when he returned to the capital in 1967, he was determined to enter again, this time to the directing department of the Moscow Art Theater.

The second time, the studies were much more successful: Mikhail Ilyich Romm . He accepted the actor immediately into the second year, and for the next three years Menshov studied directing under his strict guidance.

Family

The family life of Alentova and Menshov knew not only ups, but also downs. At some point, after the birth of their daughter, grievances began to accumulate between them. “What is large and clean is overwritten by everyday life. We thought that if we weren’t together, it would become easier for us,” Alentova recalled, talking about four years of living apart. The spouses did not formally file for divorce, but they perceived the separation as such.

Both tried to build a new relationship, but it didn’t work out. The reason, according to Vera, was the feeling of this great and very pure love. At some point, the actress found her husband’s old letters and remembered her old feelings. It became clear to her that she could not have the same feelings for any man as for her husband. On the next September 1st, they took their daughter together, and together they returned to their home.

Alentova calls the secret of a happy family life, first of all, friendship between spouses. They were friends from the moment they met in the corridors of the dormitory of the Moscow Art Theater School and remained so to this day, even after the “golden” wedding.

Today Vera Alentova and her husband live in the center of Moscow in a small apartment. The apartment still houses a huge number of Yulia’s soft toys. And until recently, the four-legged guardian of the family hearth lived here – Charlie the Cocker Spaniel. The dog died, which was a real tragedy for the family. There is still a photo of Charlie hanging in the hallway, and Vera Alentova loves to share her memories of her pet.

The Menshovs live in an “open house.” Colleagues often and easily come to them, sometimes even borrowing money. The couple are quite responsive, since they themselves have experienced many difficulties in life. By the way, there is a strange distribution of responsibilities in the family: Alentova deals, to a greater extent, with men’s affairs, she can hammer a nail and choose upholstery for furniture, but Vladimir operates in the kitchen, since he was born in Baku, and there men cook everything themselves.

In 2020, the media reported about an accident involving Alentova’s car. The victim said her Lexus RX rammed his car and fled the scene. The actress herself denied the accident.

Although the actress is in her eighties, viewers still admire her appearance, and her sense of style will give odds to many young actresses. By the way, it is not gyms that help Vera Alentova stay in excellent shape, but self-discipline. The actress is always careful about excess weight. By the way, the woman gained weight only once in her life - when she quit smoking at the request of her daughter. To lose weight, she followed the advice of her dresser: “If you want to lose weight, eat a third of your usual daily allowance.” And it helped.

Everything was ruined by the housing issue

With his return to Moscow, Menshov seemed to have become closer to his young wife, but the family boat was not destined to stay afloat. It was not possible to find a family hostel; they were not entitled to an apartment for a long time, so living apart led the couple to a final separation.

Even the birth of their daughter Julia in 1969 did not save the family. Now Vera Valentinovna says that if that separation had not happened, something else would have happened later. And this other thing certainly would not allow them to return to each other.

Yulia was three years old when the family finally collapsed. For four whole years, Vladimir and Vera tried to find themselves, started new relationships, but in the end, during their next visit to their daughter, Vladimir announced with a gloomy look that he was returning. He said that anyway, neither he nor she would find anyone better. And Vera agreed.

Everything seemed to be going great. But when my daughter was three years old, the family broke up. And then everything is again like mom’s. And like the mother’s character from the Oscar-winning film: four years of life as a single mother. After these four years, Igor’s happy return happened, and since then the couple has been inseparable.

Personal life of the actress

In the personal life of the famous actress there was always only one man. While still a student, she married Vladimir Menshov, who in the future would become a famous director and direct the cult film “Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears.” Despite some disagreements that arose between the spouses, Vera and Vladimir managed to maintain their family union.

The couple gave birth to and raised a daughter, Yulia, who followed in the footsteps of her parents and chose an acting profession for herself. In addition, Yulia Menshova successfully works as a theater director and regularly delights the public with new productions.

Even at such an honorable age, the actress remains in excellent shape and continues to delight the public with her creativity.

Vera Alentova has recently been increasingly criticized for changes in appearance. The actress really is not the same as she was before.

Do you have an extra ticket?

Many years have passed, unnecessary passions have subsided. Menshov and Alentova celebrated their golden wedding, and now their family is considered one of the strongest in theater circles.

Vera amazingly always knew how to calm and support her husband. Even when tons of poison were poured on his work from the lips of critics, she was there and believed that everything would pass and work itself out.

This was the case when everyone shouted with one voice about the mediocrity of the film “Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears.” Vera believed. And in 1981, the film unexpectedly brought Menshov an Oscar.

In general, the attitude of his colleagues towards Menshov’s work cannot be called positive or supportive. They didn’t believe in the director, every time before the release of his next film they predicted failure for him, but every time huge queues lined up in front of the Menshov box office, and at the entrance people asked for an extra ticket.

And how many actors Menchov made stars or gave them new shine! In “The Raffle” (1976), the very young Dmitry Kharatyan , Dina (Evdokia) Germanova , and Natalya Vavilova . The role in the film “Love and Doves” (1984) became one of the best in the film career of the wonderful Nina Doroshina . “Shirley Myrli” (1995) is a parade of acting successes of Soviet cinema stars. Fortunately, the prophecies of those who considered Vladimir Menshov unsuitable for the acting profession did not come true. For half a century, Vladimir Valentinovich has played a variety of roles for such directors as Alexander Mitta, Karen Shakhnazarov, Vitaly Melnikov, Nikolai Lebedev and others.

Movie

After completing her studies, Alentova began acting in films. At first, these were minor roles that could hardly glorify her. In 1979, Vera’s husband, director V. Menshov, directed her in the legendary film “Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears.” After the release of the film, fame literally fell on Vera. The audience loved this film. Vera actually played herself, because she, too, was a provincial girl in Moscow, trying to build her own happiness. After the release of this cult film, the actors who played in it received offers from directors. Alentova played in the films “Tomorrow there was a war”, “Shirli-Myrli”, “Envy of the Gods”. In recent years, she has been actively acting in films and TV series, and also works at the Theatre. A.P. Chekhov.

Biography and personal life of Vera Alentova

Few people know that from the very beginning Vera Alentova was Vera Bykova. And after the birth of her daughter, the actress changed her last name to her mother’s. But let's start from the very beginning.

Vera Bykova was born in the turbulent February of 1942. Father - Valentin Bykov - was an actor, both in cinema and in the theater. Mom, Irina Alentova, also worked as an actress in many Soviet theaters.

When the baby was only four years old, Valentin died of cancer, and Irina took her daughter to Ukraine.

The childhood of the future actress, for obvious reasons, was very difficult. There was barely enough money even for food, and the girl was often alone - her mother worked hard to feed her daughter.

Vera's acting abilities have manifested themselves since childhood. But how could it be otherwise in an acting family? She made up stories herself and staged small plays with the neighboring children.

During her childhood and adolescence, Vera changed many cities and schools. Until, finally, she entered the acting school-studio in Moscow.

The biography and personal life of Vera Alentova changed right then. It was during her student years that Bykova-Alentova met her future husband. It is noteworthy that they got married when they were still in their second year of study. But in fact, very few saw Vladimir Menshov as a talented actor and director. Except Vera. Who believed in her husband to the bitter end. After graduation, Alentova entered the service at the theater. Pushkin, where she became a very popular actress. She was often offered roles in famous productions.

Menshov, meanwhile, went to Stavropol, where he got a job as a director. A year later he returned to the capital to enter VGIK.

Biography of the actress

The biography of Vera Alentova began in the city of Kotlas, Arkhangelsk region, in 1942. She was born into a family of actors. According to Vera Alentova herself, she can describe her memories of her father as follows: the actress does not remember him, she still has a feeling of his presence.

He left the family when she was only 3 years old. And a year later he was no longer alive. Vera Alentova's father was 28 years old when he died of tuberculosis.

Vera stayed with her mother and all she remembered well from her childhood was poverty. They not only lived with their mother, but survived.

When the actress went to first grade, her mother didn’t even have money to buy her a uniform. And she sewed it for Vera from her dress. Then Alentova’s mother worked as an actress in the theater, where the salary was paid very poorly, and for the last 9 months they stopped giving it altogether.

In her autobiographical book, Alentova wrote that the most important delicacy of childhood was black bread and butter. Little Vera never even dreamed of sweets. But then everyone lived like that.

In order to somehow improve their situation, Vera’s mother went to work in a theater sewing shop. The salary situation there was better.

Alentova speaks of her mother with great love. In her book, she says that she idolized her. Every mother’s wish was a law for Vera. She was afraid to upset her with any little thing. She owes everything that Alentova can do to her mother. This is a confession from the actress herself.

It’s interesting that my mother once wrote testaments to Vera Alentova, which she called “Mom’s Testaments.” Alentova says these covenants will be helpful to most other people.

In one of them, the mother prepares her daughter for the difficulties of life that will definitely come and teaches that the daughter must learn to experience them and courageously fight them.

Vera Alentova's mother was against her daughter following in her footsteps and becoming an actress. Rotating every day in this environment, she knew that not everyone would be a star of fame in the future.

Many talented actors remain unrecognizable until the end of their careers. This profession is a kind of roulette and Vera’s mother did not want such a shaky future for her. Therefore, she insisted that her daughter continue the work of her father and grandfather Vera Alentova. He was a doctor.

Therefore, the actress, following her mother’s advice, in Barnaul has already passed almost all the medical exams, except English.

But during this period, she saw an announcement that radically changed her further, as it seemed, planned future. It said that the Alatay Drama Theater is recruiting young people who want to become artists. Of course, Vera immediately rushed there and was accepted.

But it was necessary to somehow put an end to the medical one. She specially passed English with a C, so that she would not have enough points for admission.

Arriving home, Vera told her mother that she had two news: one good and the other bad. The first is that she was accepted into the Altai Drama Theater, and the second is that she failed medically. To this, her mother replied that she did not know which news was worse.

And then, seeing that her daughter stubbornly wanted to become an actress, her mother set a condition for her: if Vera wants to follow in her footsteps, then she must go to Moscow and enter the theater school, because non-professional actors have nothing to do in the theater.

But since the time for entrance exams had already passed, Alentova had to look for a job and wait until next year. So the actress got a job at the Barnaul melange plant. Since Vera was not yet an adult at that time, she worked for 4 hours. But even after so many hours, she came home dead.

According to her, the work was very hard. But this practical life guidance would come in handy in the future, when her heroine in the film “Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears” would go through a difficult period of her life.

The first time she arrived in Moscow, Alentova did not enter the theater school. The rector said that she was late and advised her to try her luck next year, promising that he would take her straight to the second round. That’s what Alentova did.

The second attempt was more successful and she entered the Moscow Art Theater, although this was not so easy. After graduation, the actress began working at the Pushkin Theater.

Alentova’s first film debut took place in 1965 in the film “Flight Days.” And then filming in films came one after another. But the iconic picture that brought the actress world fame was “Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears.”

Alentova says in her interviews that Menshov was afraid that they would say that he was pushing his wife. And moreover, before Alentova was approved for the main role, two famous actresses had already auditioned.

One of them was Terekhova. But she was then busy filming another film, and another actress didn’t like the script. And then Alentova was approved. According to Wikipedia, Vera Alentova has about 30 roles played in films and no less on the theater stage.
