Tanning your face: benefit or harm?

Sugar Stick Contouring, Skinfood

I love skin care products from the Korean brand Skinfood, and this was my first acquaintance with the decorative line. And even here, the brand remained true to its principles - sugar cane extract was added to the contouring stick (here’s sugar for you), as well as a complex of vitamins A, C and E.

I have a difficult relationship with such products - it’s not often that you come across sticks that blend easily and don’t leave noticeable streaks (as a result, you have to stretch and knead the skin like pie dough). With Skinfood, everything was different - the texture of the product is creamy, but upon contact with the skin it turns into powder. The finish is smooth and very natural. I still advise you not to overdo it with contouring and use Sugar Stick in shade 03 as a bronzer - it looks like J-Lo.

Does the tan stick to your skin? I'll tell you how to do it

Who has skin that tans well?
Summer, sun, sea, beach... And a pale body the color of milk! And it doesn’t matter that you’ve been in the south for the second week! The tan simply does not stick to the skin, as if it were covered with a layer of ray-repellent material. And the point is not that you use protective products - correctly selected ones only protect the skin from burning, but practically do not interfere with tanning. There are simply people to whom this most coveted tan does not stick (by the way, I am one of them). It was so good in the 19th century. Tanned skin is trending right now.

Light-skinned people are the luckiest. They don't have enough melanin. Under the influence of the sun, increased production of this substance begins. And we don’t have enough of it. That's why our skin turns red, then the redness goes away, but the tan never appears.

What to eat to get a tan

What to do? First of all, pay attention to foods rich in tryptophan and tyrazine - these amino acids promote the synthesis of melanin. Tyrazine is found in rabbit and turkey meat, offal, legumes and soybeans. There is a lot of it in peanuts and cheeses. Tryptophan is found in red caviar, peanuts, almonds and again in rabbit and turkey. I won’t list all the products - the list is on the Internet.

In addition, you must not forget about vitamins. They promote the production of melanin A, C and E. Accordingly, these are carrots (especially carrot juice), pumpkin and pumpkin seeds, melon, rose hips, grapes.

Of course, if you eat a carrot before going to the beach, it will not lead to a chocolate tan that same day. But on the other hand, eating carrots or drinking rosehip infusion is not at all difficult. And don’t underestimate the benefits of products in such a complex matter as getting a beautiful tan. So you might as well try it. Remember also foods that inhibit melanin production. Chocolate, salty food, corn (remember how actively it is offered on some beaches?), coffee, alcohol.

Well, you’re a big fool Why aren’t you pestering me? I have polka dot panties. Don't you know?

Supplements and tanning

In addition, there are all kinds of dietary supplements for tanning. They are said to be quite effective. If you are not afraid, then you can try it on yourself. Only they are recommended to be taken at least two weeks before vacation, and even better - a couple of months before the period of active sun.

It is a well-known fact that a sea tan sticks better than the tan we are trying to get in the middle zone. I think that this happens due to the fact that we constantly swim at sea, and a tan applies better to wet skin, because water droplets are a kind of magnifying glasses (remember the entertainment from childhood when we set fire to a piece of paper through a magnifying glass?).

I really don’t know if this rule will work in the middle zone, because our sun is less active. In any case, we try not just to fry on the beach, but to swim. By the way, when we move, the tan becomes more uniform and more intense. So from here follows the second rule - we don’t lie around on the beach.

Cosmetics for both protection and tanning

Now about external procedures to get an even tan. Before going to the beach, your skin needs to be thoroughly scrubbed. Dead particles of the epidermis interfere with tanning. And, of course, we use special products - creams, tanning oils, sprays. They will protect the skin and promote tanning. By the way, these products are sold not only in cosmetic stores. Substances such as St. John's wort and coconut oils enhance the tan. As for esters, you can use turmeric oil. The advantage of such products is that they can be added to your regular tanning cosmetics.

Also, keep in mind that your skin needs to get used to the sun. In the first days, she experiences stress and throws out all the melanin that is in her. If your skin is naturally very light, then a tan will not appear, since these reserves are not enough. After a few days, the cells producing melanin will begin to actively divide, and things will get better. So – the first days on the beach are not yet an indicator. And if you immediately overcook in the sun, you will simply get burned and sunbathing will be prohibited for you in the near future.

Melanin, are you there?

Separately, I would like to say about people who initially developed a tan normally, and then suddenly the process slowed down. This suggests that for some reason your skin production of melanin has decreased. The reasons for this may be different. Firstly, this is age. In this case, slowing down the synthesis of melanin is a natural process. However, if you are far from the autumn of life, then this should give you some thought. The fact is that melanin is produced under the influence of hormones. And if the system fails, then there are probably reasons for this. In this case, it is better to consult a doctor so as not to miss any disease.

To sum it up, I will say this. Of course, we fair-skinned ladies are not very lucky in terms of tanning. There's nothing you can do about it - genetics. But we can still influence the situation. So let's scrub, drink some carrot juice and head to the beach! The sun is waiting!

Signature Color Illuminated Lip Gloss, Popsicle, Artistry

Yes, yes, you didn’t think so - this lip gloss really glows, you just need to unscrew the cap. This small but very useful detail won me over: I immediately tried to apply the gloss in pitch darkness - it turned out perfect! I remembered all the times when I had to touch up my makeup in a taxi and immediately put the gloss in my makeup bag.

A little less than six months ago, Artistry (a cosmetics brand from the well-known Amway) released a limited collection dedicated to lollipops. It also includes updated glosses with a three-layer structure, which gives the effect of multifaceted color. Popsicle immediately reminded me of a sunset in Malibu or orange jelly, but most importantly, on the lips the gloss resembles a moisturizing balm, does not cause discomfort and does not turn into PVA glue over time. I’m really struggling with the desire to mix all three colors in a tube, but there’s no need to do this - the result on my lips is a rich coral shade with barely noticeable shimmer. I do it simply: I combine bright glitter with a complete lack of makeup, a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

How to protect your face from the sun?

How to protect your face from the damage of the sun's rays? Carol Maggio offers these tips:

  • Avoid the sun's most harmful rays - do not go out in direct sun between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Always use a face cream with a protective factor of at least 30 SPF.
  • When in the sun, always protect your face with a wide-brimmed hat and wear sunglasses.

One of our TV stars says that he never tans his face on purpose - it is always in the shade. For even in the shade, sunlight affects the skin of the face, and this is enough not to be a pale toadstool
