Yogurt – a rejuvenating remedy for the face

Composition and benefits of yogurt for skin

Like any other fermented milk product, yogurt can be used for cosmetic purposes as a monocomponent, i.e. apply in its pure form. But to enhance the effect or obtain additional impact, you can complicate the composition with other ingredients.

But it is better to prepare the fermented milk product yourself with or without a yogurt maker from whole milk and sourdough. The fat content of the finished product can be any, as well as the consistency - either drinking or thick Greek yogurt is suitable as the main ingredient of a cosmetic product.

The resulting natural yogurt will nourish and heal the skin, because... it contains:

  1. Lactic acid. This is a gentle exfoliant that is used in beauty products (primarily for peelings). The acid will eliminate rough particles, moisturize and brighten the skin, and help smooth out fine wrinkles.
  2. Bifidobacteria that stimulate collagen production.
  3. Vitamins A, C, PP, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12. Those. almost all vitamins that are used in professional cosmetics and are necessary to maintain healthy skin. They are involved in providing cells with oxygen, regeneration processes, help improve complexion, eliminate dullness, smooth out wrinkles and slow down the aging process.
  4. Magnesium is a macronutrient that regulates the functioning of the nervous system and enhances the effectiveness of vitamin B6.
  5. Zinc, which has a wound-healing effect.
  6. Potassium, the lack of which in the body is indicated by acne and excessive dry skin.
  7. Calcium. The element is considered the basis of the formula for health and beauty. It is primarily needed by the bone structures of the body, but in the thickness of the skin this element is responsible for the proper secretion of the sebaceous glands and ensures the elasticity and firmness of the dermis.

The difference between natural yogurt and synthetic yogurt
It is advisable to use only natural yogurt for the mask.

Yogurt is good for facial skin

Natural yogurt is an excellent rejuvenating product for the face and body. If your skin has acne, enlarged pores, or blemishes, then yogurt will help you eliminate these problems.

Natural yogurt is an extremely healthy and tasty product. Due to its high calcium content, it strengthens bones and also has a positive effect on the gastrointestinal tract and bacterial flora.

To maintain intestinal health, it is recommended to consume yogurt mixed with grains (flakes) once a day. This product contains bacteria of the lactobacillus family, which improve the condition of the microflora, reduce gases and flatulence. They stimulate the body's defense system and form a natural barrier against harmful bacteria. It is especially useful to eat yogurt after taking antibiotics. It minimizes the consequences of taking antibiotics, i.e. restores normal levels of beneficial bacteria.

Scientific studies have proven that natural yogurt improves intestinal motility, prevents constipation (read here), diarrhea, and also serves as a preventive measure against colon cancer.

Benefits of yogurt for facial skin

Yogurt is produced by fermenting milk with the help of special microorganisms. It is a rich source of protein, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, B vitamins (B1, B2, B6, B12) and probiotic cultures. Thanks to probiotic cultures, yogurt improves not only the health of your intestinal flora, but also your facial skin. When used externally, it perfectly removes dead skin cells, evens out tone, and provides the skin with vitamins. The result is healthy and radiant skin. In addition, yogurt is an excellent moisturizer.

Benefits of Yogurt for Skin

The lactic acid in yogurt softens irritated and dry facial skin. In addition, it has natural antibacterial and antifungal properties, which help cleanse the skin of unwanted bacteria and maintain its natural balance. This helps speed up the healing of inflammatory processes on the skin (for example, acne).

Yogurt supports the protective function of the skin, cleanses the skin of blackheads, tightens pores, removes dead cells, and optimizes moisture levels.

Rejuvenator

What are the benefits of yogurt for the face? Yogurt prevents premature aging because... the substances included in its composition perfectly fight free radicals. Lactic acid helps dissolve and remove dead cells, clean and tighten pores, and restore youth and beauty to the skin.

Even in ancient India, they began to use yogurt (fermented milk products) for the skin of the face and body to give it youth, eliminate imperfections and various skin problems.

Buying yogurt

When choosing this product, you should read the label for various additives. For the skin, it is better to buy a natural product without sugar and preservatives, because... they can cause irritation, an allergic reaction, or worsen acne. Full-fat natural yogurt is suitable for masks, because... it promotes better results.

Yogurt face masks

There are many recipes for face masks that include yogurt. First of all, masks are useful for people with acne, signs of aging, or dry and sensitive skin (read here). Masks can eliminate irritation, increased sensitivity, and restore the skin to a healthy and radiant appearance. Let's look at several options for face masks.

Anti-pigmentation mask

Take yogurt and apply it to the problem areas for about 30 – 40 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Use the mask daily in the evening or before bed.

To moisturize and treat irritated skin, it is useful to apply yogurt to the entire face every day in the evening (10 – 15 minutes), then rinse with warm water. This will refresh, soothe and give softness to your facial skin.

Moisturizing mask

Take half an avocado, mash thoroughly, mix with 2 tablespoons of honey and 2 tablespoons of full-fat yogurt. Apply the mixture to a cleansed face for about 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water, then cold. This mask can be applied to dry skin 1 – 2 times a week.

Mask for any skin type

A mask of oatmeal, honey and yogurt will help rejuvenate the skin, cleanse it and provide it with vitamins. Take 1 teaspoon of each product, mix thoroughly and apply to cleansed face (15 minutes). After this, rinse off the mask with warm water, then, to close the pores, wash your face with cold water.

Mask for dry skin

Take an egg yolk, mix with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil (read here) and 1 tbsp. spoon of yogurt. Apply the mixture to clean skin for about 15 – 20 minutes, then rinse with water. For very dry and sensitive skin, mix banana, avocado and yogurt. Leave on the skin for 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Mask for oily and problem skin

This mask is applied to the nose, forehead, and chin. Take yogurt (7 tbsp), juice of half a lemon, finely ground sea salt (1 tsp), 3 drops of tea tree oil. Mix the ingredients and apply to face in circular motions for 2 minutes, then rinse with warm water. After this, apply the same mixture to your face in a thick layer for about 15 - 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Mechanism of action

Depending on the cosmetic focus, all masks are divided according to the type of effect into intense and delicate.

As a monocomponent, yogurt can be used daily, in which case the rich composition of the fermented milk product will have a delicate effect as a moisturizing and nourishing mask.

You can simply wipe it every day with a cotton pad soaked in yogurt, or apply it thickly for 15-20 minutes with a mask on your face to enhance the effect. Such fortified “food” for the skin in just a few days:

  • cleanses pores of dirt and tightens them;
  • moisturizes and tones;
  • has an anti-inflammatory effect;
  • eliminates shine;
  • regulates the functioning of the sebaceous glands;
  • evens out and refreshes color;
  • improves collagen production;
  • slows down aging.

Multi-component compositions of anti-aging, cleansing, oil control and lifting masks should not be used more than once a week. Additional ingredients with frequent use of masks can have the opposite effect: cause allergic reactions, disruption of internal processes in the epidermis, clogging of pores and the formation of comedones.

If you follow all the recommendations, a yogurt mask will help with any type and condition of your skin. Procedures shown:

  • for dry (even cracked) skin that needs intense hydration;
  • normal and combined - for effective care;
  • oily, requiring normalization of fat balance;
  • tired, for which there has been no proper care for a long time;
  • fading to curb the aging process.

Contraindications

You should not apply a fermented milk product if there are open wounds, inflammations, or herpes on your face. Lactic acid can increase irritation on inflamed areas of the face or body. You should also remember that after treating your face with beauty products containing lactic acid, you should not sunbathe either in a solarium or under the sun.

Classic homemade yogurt is not an allergy-causing product. It can be safely eaten by children, the elderly and even people with lactose intolerance. The cause of undesirable reactions is always the dyes and preservatives used in industrial production.

Therefore, it is contraindicated to use fermented milk products of unnatural origin, with sugar and fruit fillers, as a cosmetic product. If you do not have the skill to make a product yourself, then when choosing in a store you should carefully study the label. Natural live yogurt has a short shelf life (no more than 7 days) and contains only whole milk and sourdough.

Tips for use

The versatility of masks lies in the fact that you can use yogurt of any fat content to prepare cosmetics. However, cosmetologists recommend adhering to the basic rule: use a product with a high percentage of fat content to care for dry and aging skin, and a low-fat product for combination and oily skin.

Yogurt can be used as a separate, self-sufficient cosmetic ingredient or you can enrich the composition of the mask with fruit pulp, berry juice, a decoction of medicinal herbs, and essential oil. The product goes well with many beauty components. But you should not make cosmetics based on pasteurized yogurt, which has no benefits, or from an expired product.

Apply the prepared mixtures to cleansed skin. It is also recommended to pre-steam your face using a hot cloth or steam bath.

The exposure time is not limited, but for a mask made from a pure product, 20 minutes is enough. If the composition contains additional ingredients, the holding time can be increased to 30–40 minutes.

Pure fermented milk product can be used regularly as a cleanser: apply for 15–20 minutes and rinse with cool water. And cosmetologists recommend alternating masks by day of the week (like store-bought ones):

  • on Monday - feeders;
  • on Tuesday - rejuvenating;
  • on Wednesday - moisturizing;
  • on Thursday - with a lifting effect;
  • on Friday - cleansing;
  • on weekends, give your skin a break from cosmetics (including decorative ones).

This care regimen will eliminate the possibility of addiction and will allow you to achieve the best effect from using beauty products. You should be especially picky about the schedule when caring for your face after 30 years, because... at this age, care should be comprehensive. It is enough for girls to use cleansing and nourishing compositions.

If there are doubts about the hypoallergenicity of the prepared composition, then you should first apply a small amount of the mixture to areas with thin skin - behind the ear, on the wrist or elbow. The absence of an undesirable reaction after 10–15 minutes indicates the possibility of using the composition.
