We've grown up! Do you remember how the Olsen sisters changed?

What happened to Mary-Kate Olsen's face?
The charming Olsen twins burst into the film industry and won the love of audiences literally from birth. Born in 1986 in Los Angeles, the girls began their film careers at the age of six months, when they were chosen to play the role of the daughter of the hero of the TV series “Full House.” Instantly, these babes found themselves in the Forbes Celebrity 100 list, and then continued their acting career, delighting the audience with their cute faces, dimples and bright, innocent eyes. However, as she grew older, not a trace remained of her former beauty. And if sister Ashley has retained some of her former charm, Mary-Kate Olsen looks much older before and after plastic surgery at 33. What happened to the girl's face?

Olsen sisters - fast career decline

The girls were born on June 13, 1986 in California. Starting acting at the age of just six months, the Olsen sisters gave audiences many powerful roles in a number of box-office films. In the late 90s, the film “Two: Me and My Shadow” was released, which became the peak of the sisters’ popularity.

Teenage girls all over the world swept clothes, notebooks, and toys with their image off the shelves, dreaming of being like them. In 2004, the sisters received their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But the career that began quickly also quickly declined.

However, after completing filming, the twins found use for their talents and opened their own clothing line, surrendering to the design path. After leaving the film industry, the sisters began to be increasingly noticed in the scandalous chronicles of show business. Either animal rights activists attack them, accusing them of wearing fur, then, out of nowhere, accusations of drug use appear, or even journalists blamed Mary-Kate for the sudden death of Heath Ledger, with whom the girl was friends.

Fashion empire of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

We can talk about Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen for a very long time. At the age of 28, they managed to star in several dozen films, become the youngest producers in Hollywood, earn their first million (more to come), build an incredibly successful fashion empire and become style icons for the very people who watched avidly as teenagers in the 1990s comedies featuring sisters.

A still from the film “Two: Me and My Shadow.” The story of the twins is far from typical for Hollywood, and their colossal success defies any explanation. Having started their career at 9 months (!) of age, they never stopped working. And, fortunately, they did not repeat the fate of many star children who, having started acting early, by the age of twenty disappeared from the Hollywood horizon without a trace or became heroes of scandalous gossip columns. The Olsen sisters took a different path. Their career, it seems, just began after parting with the “Dream Factory”. The sisters grew up, and their fans grew up with them, and it was no longer enough for them to just watch funny adventures on the screen.

The Olsen sisters walk the show during Fashion Week. “She has inspiration, taste and a sense of style,” says Karl Otto Lagerfeld about Mary-Kate Olsen. And he will add: “She even wears Chanel in her own way.” To be honest, yes, of the two, it was Mary-Kate who more often became the object of admiration from fashion critics. Baggy skirts and trousers, voluminous sweatshirts, tote bags and large glasses - now this style is called “boho-chic”, and it was sister Olsen who introduced it into the world of it-girls. Ashley, the older of the two (yes, by three minutes) was not that she didn't follow her sister's example, but rather was more pragmatic. Answering a question about her idol, she didn’t hesitate to name Martha Helen Stewart: she supposedly knows how to create and support her own brands.

To be fair, it is necessary to clarify that the sisters, from the age of 12, had their own line of clothing for teenagers, which was sold at Wal-Mart throughout North America. Although, this could hardly be called the beginning of a design career: the clothes were produced by a company owned by the sisters, and the extent to which they participated in the development of the concept remains unclear. However, a start had been made. In 2006, to strengthen ties with the fashion industry, the girls appeared in an advertising campaign for the Badgley Mischka brand. And in the same year they launched their own line, The Row, which became incredibly popular and brought the sisters fame as trendsetters. The collections, designed for young and successful girls, masterfully combined signature boho-chic and urban elegance. In 2012, the sisters received the first prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America awards as the best designers of the year. In 2014, the prize for best accessory design also went to Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen.

In 2007, the sisters launched another line, “Elizabeth & James,” this time aimed at young, modern consumers and featuring a more democratic cut. In parallel with the creation of “Elizabeth & James,” Mary-Kate and Ashley wrote and prepared for release the book “Influence,” about fashion and those who influenced their worldview, of course. And already at the end of 2009, the tireless girls launched the next line “Olsenboye”, the basis of which was comfortable everyday clothes in a sporty style and accessories at affordable prices. Advertising campaign for The Row, pre-fall 2014, featuring 65-year-old beauty brand founder and style icon Linda Rodin. The StyleMint T-shirt line, collaboration with the shoe brand “Superga”, a collection of bags for “Elizabeth & James”, the launch of a new collection in Norway - it seems these girls are unstoppable. Starting with a luxury line, they were able to create successful affordable lines, which is difficult for most designers or not at all. It is not surprising that Anna Wintour named Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen as those who shape the fashion of their generation, putting them on a par with such designers as Miuccia Prada, Donna Karan, Stella McCartney ( Stella McCartney), Diane von Furstenberg and Alexander McQueen - the proximity, needless to say, is more than flattering. And what is equally important - completely deserved.

Personal life

In 2020, the paparazzi published photographs of Mary-Kate in the company of the brother of the former French President, Olivier Sarkozy, and then reports appeared in the press about the couple's secret wedding.

On April 17, 2020, Olsen filed for divorce from Sarkozy, but the petition was not accepted by a New York court due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

First creative successes

The parents decided to promote their daughters' film careers and sent their photographs to several casting agencies. As soon as the girls grew up a little, they got the main roles in the 1992 lyrical comedy “Hide, Grandma! We go". However, the main success awaited their work “Two: Me and My Shadow.”

The girls starred in their first project, “Full House,” until its closure in 1995 and grew up before the eyes of their fans.

Since the early 90s, Mary Kate and Ashley have become frequent guests on television; magazines have published their photographs and cute childhood interviews. Fame overtook the sisters at an early age, and producers exploited their duo with all their might.

Already in 1993, the sisters became the owners, which owns the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen product brand. The company produces and sells clothing for children and teenagers, as well as various souvenirs.

Even before reaching adulthood, the sisters became multi-millionaires due to active advertising of the brand’s products and the sympathy of an army of fans.

What's wrong with Mary-Kate's face?

Not so long ago, appearing at one of the fashion award ceremonies, the girls amazed the audience with their strange appearance. Now there was no question of the sisters being indistinguishable. Mary-Kate has turned into an older version of her sister. What happened to the twin's face?

Her cheekbones became sharper, her once plump cheeks sunken, and her face itself took on a tired and dull appearance. Some fans say that the actress decided to remove Bisha's lumps, and the operation was not very successful.

Our experts believe that such changes are the result of too rapid weight loss due to anorexia nervosa, which began due to the death of a close friend, Australian actor Heath Ledger. He died from an overdose of illegal drugs. His body was discovered by his masseuse, but instead of calling the police, she double-dialed Mary-Kate's number. This fact was of great interest to the police.

Now the sisters are creating fashion collections of clothes, bags, jewelry and shoes, preferring the boho style. With the help of contouring, Mary-Kate Olsen improved the shape of her face, and in 2020 she no longer looks so terrifying.

The Olsen sisters are style icons

When the daughters turned 7 years old, the father registered them and hired an agent for them. Part of the royalties from the Olsen sisters' films went to promote their brand, and profits from the sale of souvenirs and children's clothing immediately skyrocketed.

American mothers wanted their offspring to look like the pretty girls from popular films, and they willingly bought suits and dresses advertised by Olsen.

In 2008, the girls wrote a book, “Influence,” dedicated to fashion and the designers who influenced the sisters’ clothing preferences. The publication contains previously unknown photographs of Mary Kate and Ashley in unusual outfits.

A year later, the girls received the Elly Style Awards in the Fashion Icon category. This was facilitated by the choice of teenagers who preferred the clothes of their company. Dualstar is an empire with an annual turnover of several hundred million dollars.

Since 2010, the company has been selling clothes, accessories, shoes and perfumes from the expensive “The Row” line and the affordable “Elizabeth and James” line.

Many world-famous designers note the sisters’ rare sense of style, although they prefer a specific boho chic. The girls combine voluminous sweaters, boots and bulky bags into an outfit that looks very interesting on Olsen’s fragile figures.
