How to wash the lining of a hood

Basic cleaning rules

In order not to spoil your favorite item, you definitely need to know how to clean faux fur at home, and also take into account certain rules for this procedure.
You need to dry things made from this material naturally; you cannot use a hair dryer, radiator or iron. To give the product additional shine after cleaning fur products, you need to use acetic acid. Thanks to this, the pile will become smooth. If concentrated or hazardous products are used for cleaning, then safety rules must be followed.

How to wash fur

We offer two ways to properly wash such items.

Machine wash faux fur. Use the washing conditions indicated on the product label. If it is not there, then choose a delicate mode with a water temperature of no higher than 40 degrees without spinning. It's better to do it by hand. A faux fur product does not stretch, so it is dried both vertically and horizontally.

Wash real fur only by hand according to the following scheme:

  • Pour liquid detergent into warm water and whisk it well. Use a specialized product or mild hair shampoo. Add 1–2 ml of detergent to 1 liter of water. Shake to form a rich foam.
  • Soak the fur in the soapy solution. Do not wrinkle or squeeze the product. Rub the fur with light movements.
  • Brush it gently with a wide-toothed brush.
  • Place the fur in a container of clean water and add vinegar. Rinse the product a couple of times. Use cool water for a final rinse. Cold water covers the hair scales, and the fur shines after drying.
  • Squeeze the fur with your hands, but do not twist it.
  • Dry the fur on a horizontal surface so that it does not stretch. Lay down a terry towel first. Dry your fur indoors, away from heat sources.
  • Brush the fur with a hair brush after it is completely dry.

Wash faux fur in the same way.

Arctic fox, silver fox, muton, astrakhan fur, sable - it would seem that what could make them related? Yes, the fact is that all these are furs that warm us during the cold season and give a unique charm to winter women's and men's clothing. Agree, when an elegant lady in a fluffy sparkling fur coat walks down the street, the eye is pleased. But for your fur coat to really shine, you need to know how to care for it. And today we’ll talk about whether it is possible to wash natural and faux fur, and if so, how to do it.

Can real and faux fur be washed?

There is no definite answer to this question, since the texture and characteristics of natural and artificial fur differ significantly. The base of natural fur is naturally impregnated with animal fat, which gives it elasticity and prevents excess moisture from penetrating into the interior. If you wash a natural fur coat in the usual sense, all the fatty protection will be removed from it, which will lead to loosening of the base and loss of fur. In a word, ordinary wet washing using powders and soaps for things made of natural fur is like death.

But to the question of whether it is possible to wash faux fur, we answer: you can, but very carefully. It is better to choose high-quality shampoo as a detergent. And after weaving, do not twist the fur product, but only lightly wring it out and wrap it in cotton fabric. Some faux fur items can be machine washed on a delicate cycle. But in any case, before processing, you need to study the label attached to the item; on it you can read about the permitted manipulations.

How to wash natural fur?

Now let's look at options for washing natural fur. As mentioned above, you cannot subject it to regular wet washing, but you can clean, air, dry and comb it. But before you wash natural fur, check its strength by applying a few drops of an aqueous solution of shampoo and ammonia to different parts of the base. For 50 ml of warm water, take 1 drop of shampoo and 2 drops of ammonia. After the solution is absorbed, lightly pull the base with your hands; if it does not spread, you can safely proceed to “washing”.

As a “detergent” for washing natural fur, you can use semolina, baby powder, talc or pure potato starch. Pour any of the suggested products into a basin and, immersing the fur item in it, carefully and gently rub the contaminated areas. Then take the item outside and hang it in the shade to dry. Next, use a soft brush to carefully remove the “powder” and comb the fur. The result will please you. By the way, if you are puzzling over how to properly wash white fur, then the methods described above will also suit you. For faux fur, you can also use ammonia or lemon juice diluted in water. In general, try it, and let your furs be the very best.

Very often, the hoods of jackets and down jackets are decorated with a thin strip of natural fur.

-
edge
. Usually the edge is made removable so that it doesn’t get damaged when washing the jacket. But over time, the fur at the edge turns yellow, gets dirty and curls into icicles. Find out how to fluff, update and fur on the hood in our advice.

We have already talked about it, but now we will talk specifically about the edge - a thin strip of fur sewn to the zipper.

Cleaning fur is a rather complicated undertaking, but the edge can be simply washed

.
You ask: “How can this be? The edge is also fur.” Yes, meh. Only this is a very thin strip, which is firmly sewn to the fabric with a tight seam. This is what prevents the leather from shrinking or spreading
after washing.

shampoo for washing

for hair, and even better, shampoo for dogs and cats with a whitening effect. Cat and dog breeders highly praise the following shampoos:

1) Chris Christensen White on White Shampoo Chris Christensen -

whitening shampoo for dogs and cats. As the manufacturer indicates, this shampoo can be used on coats of any color and on dogs of any breed.

- whitening shampoo, it helps remove stains, makes the coat brighter, all colors, and does not lighten, but enriches the natural texture of the coat.

But I haven’t found such shampoos in our city. Therefore, I used what I found in the pet store, more or less suitable.

— Shampoo “Shining White” for dogs and cats with light hair. Refreshes dull fur. You can see the result of washing the edges with this shampoo in the lower photos.

Let's start washing the fur trim

Pour some cold water into the basin (about 30 degrees). Add shampoo.

We rinse the fur, carefully pulling it through our hands for 5 minutes. You can simply rinse and leave the fur in the basin for this time for the whitening effect of the shampoo to take effect. Don't be afraid, the colored fur will not lighten or turn white during this time. Due to the fact that the yellowness of the pile goes away, the color of any fur color becomes purer and richer, even black.

Shake well. And hang it in the shade

in the breeze to dry.

After the water has completely drained from the edge, the fur should dry to this condition (see bottom photo)

Now you need to dry it with a hairdryer

, carefully combing with a brush-comb in different directions. You can buy a brush at a pet store.

This is necessary to prevent icicles from forming

.

Leave the edge on the dryer until completely dry.

.

When the edge is completely dry, fasten it to the hood.

For clarity

you can compare the edge before washing:

We will not say that the easiest way is to clean a fur collar in a special salon, since this pleasure is not cheap, but we will give recommendations on how to wash a fur collar at home, carefully and effectively clean the fur at home. Let's share our secrets and tell you what it is like to wash fur at home, depending on the type of fur collar and color.

If we clean a down jacket with fur, the cleaning varies depending on what color it is, natural or artificial.

If we are talking about natural fur, then it not only decorates the product, but also retains heat. The advantage of artificial is the price, and the appearance is no worse.

What to do if you can’t wash it

If the label indicates that the fur is not washable, you can use the following methods to remove stains:

  1. Dust and fresh dirt particles are removed using a suitable brush or vacuum cleaner. You can also knock out or shake the product.
  2. Fresh stains are removed with starch or soda. The bulk substance should be applied to the problem area and left for 15–20 minutes. During this time, starch (soda) absorbs dirt. At the end of the allotted period, the fur coat (collar) is turned inside out and shaken out. To remove residual soda (starch), the fur must be cleaned with a brush.
  3. Traces of fat and greasy stains are cleaned using a mixture of 1 tsp. alcohol (allowed to replace with gasoline) and 1 tbsp. l. starch. Both substances are mixed to a mushy state. Then the resulting mass is applied to the contaminated areas, left for 10 minutes and combed out with a brush (removed with a cotton swab).

If the described methods do not bring the required result, then the fur product should be dry cleaned.

Automatic wash

Most denim jackets can withstand machine washing. But it is better to reduce the risks to a minimum and carry out the cycle according to all the rules. To avoid mistakes, follow the instructions.

  1. We fasten all available buttons and locks.
  2. Turn the product inside out.
  3. Select the “Jeans” or “Delicate Wash” mode on the washing machine.
  4. We pour detergent into the main compartment of the tray, and conditioner into the central compartment.
  5. We adjust the water heating temperature (for light-colored items – 40 degrees, for black and colored items – 30).
  6. We check that the spin is switched to minimum.
  7. We turn on an additional rinse to completely rinse the detergent from the fibers.

Then we start the cycle and wait for the end of the program. Next, we proceed to drying, which we will discuss in more detail separately.

Features of hand washing clothes with synthetic fur

Most products made from this beautiful synthetic material require special attention. Sometimes it is particularly difficult to maintain the cleanliness of a combined product. The combination of several types of fabric can cause the color of the fur insert to change.

The hood with fur, detachable from the jacket, is washed separately. To do this, it is placed in a special bag for delicate washing and placed in a washing machine with liquid detergent for synthetic fabrics. The water temperature should be no more than 30 degrees. When finished, the fur should be dried thoroughly and then combed with a regular brush.

It is better to freshen delicate fur by hand. The detachable hood is placed in warm water with laundry soap. The fabric itself can be gently rubbed with a brush, and the insert can be rinsed in a soapy solution. Next, the product must be dried and combed.

The most labor-intensive option is a product with a one-piece cut. You can wash such an item in automatic mode only at your own peril and risk. The best solution is to soak the item of clothing in warm water with laundry soap or gel. It is advisable to avoid immersing the fur in the basin. Next, the fabric must be rubbed with a brush or by hand, rinsed carefully, and squeezed out everything except the fur.

A denim jacket, insulated with synthetic fur or decorated with a fur collar, is a must-have in the wardrobe of any fashionista. A stylish denim item is quite problematic to care for. Saturated dark fabric is prone to washing off paint, which, in turn, settles on light-colored collars. In addition, thick denim is washed only at high speeds and high temperatures, which is unacceptable for synthetic material. How to wash jeans with a faux fur lining or collar:

  • conduct a color fastness test;
  • For intense stains, soak for a short time;
  • wash in machine or by hand;
  • do not squeeze;
  • dry carefully.

When new jeans are washed for the first time, they turn the water a rich blue color. This is especially true for budget clothing. To prevent the dye from ruining the synthetic fur lining, it is worth checking the dye fastness in advance. To do this, you can soak the sleeve of the product in warm water for 15-30 minutes. If the water becomes colored, then the item should be washed exclusively in cold water and as quickly as possible. It is recommended to add a color enhancer.

It is better to first lubricate pronounced stains on the jacket or lining with laundry soap and soak for 30-60 minutes (provided that the item does not fade). After this, the clothes should be placed in the machine with a gentle liquid product. For short and dense fur, you can use regular washing powder.

It is strictly forbidden to choose modes with spin or intensive cleansing. It is quite possible to wash the item by hand. To make cleaning thick denim easier, use a soft brush. It is necessary to rinse in cool water; adding conditioner is allowed. The jacket must be dried on a horizontal surface or hanger. Clothespins may leave creases on the product.

The best solution would be to hand wash items with faux fur inserts. This will allow you to track the process at all stages and clean the fur product as carefully as possible. To wash synthetic fur by hand you need to:

  • pre-soak the item;
  • gently rub the fabric;
  • rinse the fur insert;
  • let the water drain;
  • dry carefully.

If you only need to refresh clothes and not remove dirt, then soaking can be neglected. For intense stains or persistent unpleasant odors, synthetic clothing can be soaked for 15-30 minutes with the addition of a mild detergent. Contaminated areas should be rubbed with soap or soap with bile.

Clothes should be rinsed in warm or cool water, adding a little conditioner, vinegar or lemon juice for elasticity and shine. Then carefully lay out the product, without stretching it, and allow excess moisture to drain. Clothes should not be wrung out; they should be dried horizontally or hanging, avoiding clothespins and other squeezing devices. After complete drying, comb the hand-washed fur with a wide-tooth comb and treat it with an antistatic agent.

High-quality professional cleaning of products made from artificial materials is carried out in dry cleaners. However, even at home you can return the product to its former freshness and cleanliness. For white clothes, starch is best. The powder is diluted with a small amount of water to obtain a kind of slurry.

  • using lemon juice or acid;
  • elimination of impurities using bran;
  • using dishwashing detergent;
  • using baking soda.

Lemon juice is a reliable ally in the fight for the whiteness of synthetic materials. It is applied to the fur from base to tip using a small sponge. After drying, the product is combed. The technique removes unpleasant odors from the product and returns shine and softness to clothes. This method is not suitable for caring for items of saturated colors. In the absence of lemon juice, ordinary citric acid diluted with water will do.

Bran is traditionally used for fur of any color. You should first pass them through a meat grinder or grind them in a coffee grinder. Once a flour-like consistency is achieved, the bran is applied to the pile and left for several hours. After the specified time, the product is thoroughly combed with a comb or brush. Bran absorbs foreign odors and softens the villi.

In special cases, when heavily soiled, it is recommended to apply a small amount of undiluted dishwashing detergent to the clothes. Leave the liquid for 15-30 minutes, then carefully wipe off with a damp cloth. For light-colored items, adding baking soda will help speed up stain removal. It can also be used separately, applying it to the item for half an hour, and then combing the villi.

Such a large and heavy product is, of course, difficult to wash by hand. However, machine washing can damage the item by ruining the fur or changing its shape. Whether a faux fur coat can be washed should be checked on the label of the item of clothing. If the manufacturer does not prohibit such care, the following nuances should be taken into account:

  • You should use only warm water;
  • The product should be washed as rarely as possible;
  • It is prohibited to use “aggressive” modes;
  • It is better not to use washing powder;
  • the product cannot be wrung out;
  • The item should be dried away from heating appliances.

Before washing a faux fur coat, you should fill a container with warm water with the addition of soap shavings or gel for gentle cleansing. If necessary, pre-soaking of the product is allowed. It is strictly forbidden to wash a fur coat in hot water - this will cause the lining to shrink and cause the fur to fall out and become fluffy.

For washing, delicate modes that do not involve spinning are best suited. If the device allows, then it is worth reducing the number of revolutions and setting the lowest water temperature. For best results, gel or liquid laundry detergents designed for synthetic clothing are recommended.

As with other faux fur products, the immutable rule for synthetic fur coats is drying under natural ventilation without exposure to heating devices. Clothes are not hung on clothespins or folded on lines. Bends on artificial material are almost impossible to correct after the item has completely dried. After cleansing, the fur coat is combed and sprayed with conditioner.

How to wash faux fur at home by hand?

  • a container of such size is used that the pile does not wrinkle;
  • in order to wash the item well, it is first cleaned of stains (with a slurry of starch and alcohol) and soaked for twenty minutes in a solution with detergent (you can use shampoo without conditioner);
  • the water temperature should not exceed 40 degrees;
  • wash the product without allowing it to wrinkle or stretch, do not rub the fur with great effort;
  • then you need to wring out the item, change the water and rinse it thoroughly several times;
  • To add shine and get rid of static electricity, you can add vinegar or a little antistatic agent to the rinse water.

If the item is brightly colored, you should first check the effect of the vinegar solution on the edge of the item.

It is strictly forbidden to twist a fur product. It must be slightly squeezed and hung over the bathtub so that all excess water drains away.

A white fur item looks very impressive, but how to wash white fur and rid it of yellowness:

  1. To remove yellow stains from the pile of a hat, collar or cuffs, you can use lemon juice or vinegar, moisten the stained area with acid and wipe it with a soft brush.
  2. To remove minor stains from the surface of light fur coats, hats, collars, blankets, you can use crushed chalk, starch or semolina as a bleach. The substance is lightly rubbed into problem areas and then shaken off.
  3. Very severe stains on white fur require stronger cleaning agents. To do this, wipe the contaminated areas in the direction of the pile with a sponge generously moistened in a solution of equal parts ammonia, hydrogen peroxide and water. Then the item needs to be dried.

Interesting tips from craftsmen among the people

Craftsmen from among the people give their own advice on the question “how to clean faux fur”:

  • To give it a snow-white hue, blue is used.

A weak blue solution is applied over the entire surface of the item and then dried.

  • Often, ordinary potato starch is used, and the fur item does not have to be wet; cleaning is dry.

The product is spread out, starch is poured on top, and then cleaned with a dry cloth.

  • If you need to get rid of a stain, then mix starch, dishwashing detergent and washing powder in equal quantities. The resulting mixture is applied to the stain and after the mixture has dried, it is removed.

To prevent contamination, you can periodically shake out a fur item or, for cleaning, carefully treat it with a vacuum cleaner, using an attachment designed for furniture, which makes cleaning much easier.

If home methods are unsuccessful, then the last option remains is to take the item to the dry cleaner. But specialists do not always take on such work.

Washing fur products in an automatic machine

Buying a fur coat or other clothing with fur is a very joyful event; you want to enjoy a soft and beautiful product for as long as possible. However, the maintenance of such clothing requires compliance with certain rules. The list of mandatory requirements includes:

  • Availability of storage space and special devices (hangers, blanks, covers).
  • Protection from contact with strong odors, tobacco smoke, chemicals or dyes.
  • Wet protection.
  • Drying in natural conditions.
  • Protection against insects using cassettes, herbs, soap.
  • Regular ventilation during long-term storage in a closet.

Imitation of natural animal fur is made from soft, flexible fibers and threads, which form the basis of various fabric or non-woven materials, felt, and knitwear. The production of such fur has its advantages:

  • low cost;
  • ease of processing when sewing;
  • insects do not spoil such material;
  • a light weight.

The manufacturing process of such products occurs by attaching natural or artificial fibers to a base made of fabric, eco-leather or other material. Even sheep wool can be used to obtain pile that imitates fur or fur.

Methods of cleaning and basic care are selected depending on the principle of manufacturing a particular item. Artificial hairs can be obtained by pile weaving threads on special looms or knitted on knitting machines. There is eco-fur, which is as close in quality to natural fur as possible; it is made on tufting machines. Another method is to attach chenille (pile threads) to the fabric surface using a special rubber-like adhesive.

The basis of artificial hairs is usually lavsan, viscose, nitron, nylon, wool fibers or a mixture of these materials.

Proper cleaning will help maintain the attractive appearance of your favorite things. You can wash faux fur by hand or using a washing machine, but you must follow a number of recommendations. How to wash faux fur at home:

  1. The first thing you need to do is check the information on the product label; it indicates acceptable cleaning options and processing temperatures.
  2. When machine washing, you must choose the most gentle mode with a temperature not exceeding 50 °C. This method is suitable for products with short pile.
  3. The detergent is preferably liquid, suitable for fabrics that require careful handling. Before putting the item into the washing machine, it is recommended to soak the item for about fifteen minutes in a weak soap solution.
  4. Immediately before washing, it is better to treat artificial pile of light shades with a solution of citric acid or lemon juice.
  5. The presence of other wardrobe items or other things when cleaning faux fur is unacceptable. The fur coat can be placed in a special bag.
  6. It is necessary to rinse several times.
  7. Spinning at the lowest speed or by hand is the safest for the hair structure.
  8. Items must be dried on special hangers at room temperature.

Hand washing fur is a rather troublesome task, but with certain knowledge and skill it is easy to achieve a successful result. To carry out such a procedure, the following rules exist:

  1. The presence of long hair is a direct indication for hand washing; such cleaning is suitable for small items, this way you can wash a fur hat, gloves, or collar.
  2. Items must be soaked in a solution of water and liquid laundry detergent, at a temperature not exceeding 40 °C.
  3. The washing container must correspond to the size of the selected item. This could be a basin of suitable size or a bathtub.
  4. The soaking process takes thirty minutes.
  5. The first rinse must be carried out in warm water, subsequent rinses in cold water, so that the materials do not lose their shine and softness.
  6. Drying is only permissible at room temperature.
  7. If you only need to remove a few stains over a large area, it is better to use a soft brush or cotton swab and apply a thick foam of detergent directly to the stain.

Movements when washing by hand should be soft and stroking so as not to damage the hairs; it is very convenient to use a shower head when rinsing. If time and money allow, then you can look for a soft brush; for example, children’s brushes do a good job of cleaning lint.

There are several methods for washing faux fur. Of course, the easiest way to clean items made from artificial material is machine washing. However, this technique is only suitable for a certain category of products. Only items with short, dense pile attached to a high-quality base can be loaded into the machine. For best results it is recommended:

  • soak the product;
  • choose a suitable remedy;
  • select the correct mode;
  • provide the necessary conditions for drying.

Faux fur clothing should be washed separately from any other items. Suitable automatic modes include “delicate”, “hand wash”, “lingerie”. The machine should be set to the minimum number of revolutions and without spinning. Rinsing should be done manually, in cool water without adding conditioner.

To add shine to the product, you can add a little lemon juice or vinegar to the water. It is not recommended to wring out any fur products. Such clothes easily lose their shape and fluffy structure. It is better to dry the product on a horizontal surface in a well-ventilated area. It is allowed to place the item of clothing on a hanger.

You can restore the freshness of your fur coat and clean a couple of stains using dry methods. Only in exceptional cases should you load the product into an automatic machine.

For washing, delicate modes that do not involve spinning are best suited. If the device allows, then it is worth reducing the number of revolutions and setting the lowest water temperature. Explanation of the label

The manufacturer informs you under what conditions to wash the jacket using symbols:

  • container with water and a number - washing temperature;
  • triangle - whitening;
  • letter in a circle - dry cleaning;
  • iron with dots - ironing;
  • a square with vertical stripes is a drying method.

The label of a simple denim jacket without lining often indicates a water temperature of 40 degrees. A crossed out triangle means no bleaching. The letter "P" is enclosed in a circle. The symbol indicates that the item is subject to standard dry cleaning. Two dots are placed on the iron, indicating ironing at 150 degrees. Vertical stripes in a square are a sign indicating hanging drying.

Manually

It is better to wash small items by hand.
A product made of artificial fur fabric with long pile can only be washed by hand, while materials with short pile can easily be machine washed.

If you need to wash a small item, for example, a hat, mittens, collar or hood, proceed as follows. Not very hot water is poured into a container of suitable size, the temperature of which should not exceed 40°C, and liquid soap or gel is added. It is not recommended to use dry washing powders or soaps with active chemical additives, as they can damage the structure of the pile.

Next, the clothes must be soaked for 25-30 minutes, then gently rub the pile with your hands or a soft brush, paying special attention to heavily soiled areas: sleeves, collar, pockets, bottom of the product.

After washing, the fur should be carefully combed

You should rinse your fur item in plenty of water, first warm, then cool. Before squeezing the product, you need to remove it from the water and, placing it on some kind of stand, allow the bulk of the liquid to drain. After this, you need to blot it with a towel several times, without twisting the material in any way.

It is better to dry clothes on hangers, away from radiators. After drying, the fur can be combed with a round-tooth comb.

You should not start washing large bulky items, such as a blanket, if the contamination occupies a small area. It is much easier to remove several stains using a gauze swab dipped in a soap solution.

How to wash fur? Most manufacturers recommend performing this procedure manually. This method is more gentle and suitable for synthetic products.

If you are looking for the answer to the question of how to wash a fur hat, then you should also know - by hand. It is better not to trust such products to automation. If the pompom is not attached well, it may come off. Therefore, it is recommended to handle it by hand.

It is also not recommended to put a fur coat with long pile in the machine.

How to wash faux fur by hand:

  1. Fill the bathtub with warm water. The temperature of the liquid should not exceed 35 degrees, maximum 40.
  2. Add detergent and dilute it in water.
  3. Place the synthetic fur in a container. Press down with your hands or place a weight on top. Make sure the item is completely saturated with water.
  4. Leave the product to soak for 30 minutes. For faux fur, this time will be enough.
  5. After soaking, turn the product over to the other side and straighten the pressed pile.
  6. Then remember the thing with your hands, squeezing the pile into a fist and unclenching it. Do not rub the product, the lint will come out faster.
  7. Use home remedies or appropriate chemicals to remove stains. The synthetic fiber manufacturer prohibits the use of stain removers, chlorine bleaches, or other chemicals not intended for use on faux fur. They act aggressively on the fiber and quickly damage it.
  8. Rinse off soap suds in a bathtub with water. Don't use the shower. Strong pressure can cause the pile to come off the base, which has been softened by moisture.
  9. To completely remove soap, first rinse the product with warm water, then with cold water. This will add shine to the fibers.
  10. Add a little vinegar in the final rinse. Synthetic fur will smooth out and shine even better.

After finishing washing, all that remains is to dry the product.

How to do this without damaging the synthetic fiber?

Basic rules for drying artificial pile:

  1. Cannot be placed on the battery.
  2. Do not hang to dry near a boiler, fireplace or other heating device. The pile may become deformed.
  3. It is prohibited to use a hair dryer or other means to speed up drying.
  4. Do not hang in direct sunlight. White fur may turn yellow.
  5. To dry faster, blot the lint with a clean towel.
  6. Do not twist or squeeze the product. The pile will begin to come out and, accordingly, thin out.

Follow these rules and enjoy the results. Due to improper handling of faux fur, it may turn yellow, the pile will become shorter (it will break when twisted) and as a result, the fur coat will no longer be as attractive as before.

Drying

After cleaning the fur collar, it must be thoroughly dried. This is a very important point, since moisture remaining in the fur fibers can cause an unpleasant odor and damage to the product.

Dry the fur collar in a darkened room. Direct sunlight contributes to loss of color and brittleness of the villi. Under no circumstances should fur be split on a radiator or other heat sources or ironed.

Advice! Pre-blotting the collar with a towel will help speed up the drying process.
