8 stars who beat cancer

These women are accustomed to admiration and adoration. They know that every day hundreds of people watch them leave the house, appear on the set, and shine on the red carpet. But the heroines of our selection are united not only by talent, but also by a terrible diagnosis, against which they did not cower.

Most women, having learned about the disease, decide to have a serious operation - mastectomy, removal of the mammary glands. Now they inspire millions of women around the world, proving that cancer can be defeated.

Chronicles of the struggle. A woman with breast cancer blogs about her illness.

“This is not exactly what we planned, but there is always a place for magic in life,” she writes under a photo of her and her husband, and looking at them, she absolutely cannot believe her terrible diagnosis.

Unlike other bloggers, the Instagram page has become more than just a recording of daily events for Australian Christine Pretorius. She started the account @kicking_the_big_c when she learned of her breast cancer diagnosis in June of this year.

The 34-year-old mother of two decided that she would not allow the disease to deprive her of the joy of life. And she began to tell others about how she was doing - in a characteristically optimistic manner.

“It's hard to stay positive and enjoy life when everything is going wrong,” says Christine. “But I don’t want my life to consist only of cancer. I try very hard to live a normal life for the sake of my daughters. And I’m quite a positive person.”

Christine remains this way even after a mastectomy (surgery to remove the breast) and chemotherapy, which left her with no hair and no appetite. Here's what she wrote about her first chemotherapy session:

“This danger space area is actually my first chemotherapy treatment! The first challenge was a head cooling machine (ha, actually more of a freezing machine). Task number 2: Watched the nurse put on full toxic waste protection (goggles and all) in case that poison spilled... But no, it's completely safe to inject it into your blood! BUT, the chemistry is done, the rest doesn’t matter.”

In June, the diagnosis came as a real shock to Kristin: after all, she had always led a healthy lifestyle, almost never used chemicals in her everyday life and was on a vegetarian diet. After learning that she had cancer, she had an emergency mastectomy, but it turned out that the malignant cells had spread to the lymph nodes, so chemotherapy was needed.

One of the first decisions of Christine and her husband Maurice was not to hide the truth from their daughters, 8-year-old Amelia and 6-year-old Nina.

“They were afraid I would lose my hair (from chemotherapy),” Kristin remembers. “But I’ve already lost my breasts, which are actually a symbol of femininity, and now I’m planning to lose my hair - it’s also part of what makes you feel like a woman.”

But Christine decided not to wait for her hair to start falling out on its own - and took preventive measures. She even threw a party where she changed her hairstyle - deciding that it would be easier psychologically.

She happily shares her photos on Instagram, turning negative into positive and supporting hundreds of women who are also facing chemotherapy.

...this photo was taken two months before the terrible diagnosis. “The cancer was already in me, and I had no idea about it,” Christine captioned the photo, marveling at how much had changed in her life in such a short time.

“Ironically, I was at the peak of my health and fitness this year. I've never felt better, stronger, or more comfortable with myself than I did at 34. ...but I did go for a regular checkup. And they found a tumor.

If the doctor hadn't examined me, I would have continued to live in blissful ignorance, setting new fitness goals, eating junk food with antioxidants on my perpetual vegetarian diet. So check your boobs. Know your body. Cancer happens. Any of us,” Kristin wrote.

There is nothing to add to this.

Kylie Minogue diagnosed with cancer

One of the most terrible diseases of our time - cancer - does not spare anyone, everyone is equal before it, both poor and rich.
The number of victims of this disease around the world is constantly growing, and doctors have not yet come up with a panacea for cancer. Today it became known that a terrible illness has struck one of the most popular singers in the world - Kylie Minogue. A favorite of men, a recognized beauty, a repeated leader of music charts, as well as various ratings of men's and women's magazines on beauty and sexuality, today admitted that doctors discovered she had breast cancer. Due to this, part of the singer's Australian tour has been cancelled. She has already apologized to her fans, who will be forced to hand over their tickets and will not see her performance.

It should be noted that the star does not fall into depression and despondency. She is confident that she will soon be able to defeat the disease and return to normal life. According to her press service, the singer now remains in her home in Melbourne with her family and plans to immediately begin treatment, because she really has a chance of success - the cancer was detected at an early stage. Therefore, the 36-year-old pop star does not intend to give up and will fight for her life.

Recently, this is not the first case of breast cancer in show business. For example, in 2003, a similar recognition was made by singer Anastasia, who successfully coped with the disease. Her cancer was also detected at an early stage, and she quickly began treatment. The singer was operated on in one of the American hospitals and turned out to be lucky - the tumor was not only successfully removed, but the doctors also managed to save her breasts (usually with such operations, patients then have to get implants). After recovery and rehabilitation, the singer successfully returned to the world pop stage and continues to successfully record songs and tour. So Kylie Minogue has a good example not to lose hope for a successful outcome.

Meanwhile, breast cancer continues to lead the world among other types of this disease. It is second only to lung cancer. Recently, more than 1.1 million cases of breast cancer have been reported worldwide. For comparison: the same figure in 1975 was about 500 thousand. All over the world, women create all kinds of associations to combat this disease and hold charity events, the proceeds of which are transferred to funds to combat breast cancer. The leitmotif of this campaign is the slogan that even if a woman is among the sick, she should not despair, because there is a chance to cope with this disease.
