Wet manicure, learn everything about the maceration session

Nail art is hard to believe, but once upon a time this phrase was unheard of. Quite long, pointed nails remained at the peak of popularity, and fashionistas’ favorite polish color invariably remained – guess which one? Of course, red! But there are no trends that would not change the dashing 90s. It was then that fashionistas slowly began to “be bold” by painting their fingernails and toenails - bold, right? - in different colors, grow to incredible lengths, and “almond” and “stiletto” have become the most trendy shapes. Today, your favorite beauty guide MakeupStore invites you to take a ride in a virtual time machine and remember how nail art trends have changed from the 90s to the present day.

More, more glamor: rhinestones, mother of pearl and beads

Down with the greyness, that is, excuse me, the total redness of the manicure! Although a varnish of such a bright shade can hardly be called dull and boring, after such a long period of time it has already become quite boring. That is why fashionistas of the early 90s had a blast: back then it was hard to surprise with chains hanging from nails, an abundance of rhinestones, stained glass and other brilliant variety. In combination with acidic shades and mother-of-pearl, it was an explosive mixture! Well, don’t forget about length and shape: first, the longer, the better; the second is as predatory as possible. So that the one who fell into the hands of such a beauty would definitely not be able to escape :) We understand that such glamorous chaos could not last forever, so already in 1996, with the entry of the CND Nails brand into the market and fashion catwalks, everything was decided : enough! You need to be more modest! And the laconic monochromatic square came into fashion firmly and for a long time.

“You are a fairy!” The story of a blogger who paid for a manicure for a pensioner touched users

For the second day on Facebook, people have been actively sharing a touching story that happened to blogger Olga Savelyeva in one of the Moscow nail salons. The girl wrote on her page about how she paid for a manicure for a pensioner who could not afford it, and in just a few hours the story of her good deed was shared by thousands of people.

The blogger published a post on her Facebook page on January 24, in which she wrote about how she saw a pensioner in one of the nail salons in a Moscow shopping center.

And here I sit, drink coffee, fix my nails. I see my grandmother approaching the administrator. So neat. Dressed modestly, but... thoughtfully. With a scarf to match the color of the hat.

The woman approached the administrator and asked how much it cost to get a manicure. Hearing the price, after thinking a little, she sadly turned around and headed towards the exit.

But she is not a grandmother. She is woman. And a woman wants to have well-groomed hands. Any age. How humiliating poverty is. How offensive it is when you have to choose between what is necessary and what is necessary. When pampering yourself is an unexpected waste of the budget, a hole that you then don’t know where to restore from... But Woman. The woman lives inside. She wants ordinary, mundane pleasures, like clean olive-shaped nails, wanting to like herself in the mirror, wanting to be beautiful. Don't seem like a woman, but be one. Women have no age, they have a state of mind. State of spring. Or not. My grandmother didn’t have enough rubles for the spring.

Then the author of the post, having agreed with the administrator, gave the pensioner a manicure under the pretext that she was the hundredth client and for her the service today was free.

I'm smiling. I can just feel the Universe stroking me on the top of my head, saying, well done, Olya. And I bask with happiness and become beautiful. She sees everything, this is our Universe. And he always responds in a timely manner. And today the Universe is very happy for my grandmother. That is, for my woman. And enjoys Spring with us. The Universe - by the way, it is also... A woman!

Later, Olga received a message that she had been paid a fee for one of her articles, equal to the amount she paid for an elderly woman’s manicure.

I show the SMS to Gula (manicurist). She laughs and says: “Well, you have to!” Boomerang! Good always comes back.

The author attached a photo of a pensioner to the post.

In just a few hours, the post went viral. In less than a day, more than 33 thousand people liked it, almost 6.5 thousand shared it on their page. In the comments, users admire the blogger’s action, and some, inspired by her story, are planning to start a new flash mob.

A few months ago, the story of the retired traveler “Baba Lena” was actively discussed on social networks: Muscovite Elena Papina, who accidentally met her in Vietnam, spoke about her on her Facebook page. After the story went viral, Channel One made a report about the woman, and people from all over the world began to invite her to visit them.

Calm, only calm: pastel and French manicure

In the 2000s, the square shape became softer, the corners were rounded, and the provocative shades were replaced by pastels. At the peak of popularity is “French”, with its ostentatious modesty and desire for maximum naturalness. Deliberately “unpainted” nails with a bright white stripe now already bring a smile, although the French manicure procedure in salons is still a success. But then, for 10 years, wearing a French jacket was the chic of chic! Apparently, this is why such a calm and, let’s face it, slightly boring trend has been replaced by bright and comfortable manicure options.

Stickers: any whim - on your nails

These have been the trends since 2010. Well, working women are short on time, but really want to bring ideas to life! In addition, the design of stickers can satisfy any fantasy - from minimalist monochromatic to the most intricate and wild! Do you want a checkered pattern, do you want flowers with stripes, or even a leopard print. If you didn’t like it, they removed it and that was the end of it. And note - no acetone or ruined smeared manicures!

2012-2014: the main thing - briefly

Long nails become bad manners, and care products come to the fore so that even short nails look attractive. Unedged manicure is gaining popularity, and the appearance of cuticles no longer causes holy horror. The main thing is that the regrown edges should be as short as possible, and the nail bed itself should be as long as possible. To do this, various oils, gels and waxes are used. As for color, two extremes dominate here - either darker than dark, up to a black gloss, or nude. It could be very different - from the notorious “mannequin hands”, when the shade of the varnish almost merges with the skin, to beige, peach, “morning rose” and milk. Texture ranges from translucent gel to thick creams.

Geometry, moon and multicolor: trends 2015-2017

“Moon manicure”, of course, did not appear then, but much earlier - back in the 30s of the last century. But its revival in a slightly updated format is a whole era! Now the hole can be bent in any direction. The main thing is color! Gold, silver or just a bright shade that contrasts with the background is what matters. During the same period of time, geometric manicures, a combination of plain nails of different colors, and magnetic shimmers like a “cat’s eye” came into fashion.

What is maceration?

Maceration (from the Latin maceratio - to soften) in medical terminology means swelling of tissues and soaking them in liquid. as a result of the dissolution of intercellular substance. In cosmetology, this term is used to refer to wet manicure. Its essence is that at the beginning of the procedure a special hand bath is made, which softens the cuticle and soothes the skin of the hands. After this, as in other types of manicure, the cuticle is removed. Therefore, they sometimes say about maceration that this is a kind of combination of two types of nail care - from trimming there is a hand bath, and from European - careful removal of the cuticle.

To perform the maceration procedure, standard manicure tools are used: nail file, orange sticks, manicure scissors. But there is some variety among the products that can be added to a softening bath. Ready-made maceration kits are sold that can be purchased and tried at home. The citrus and almond sets are especially popular here. Also sold separately are maceration baths made of ceramic, which retains the temperature inside longer. The bath itself can be made from green tea, which improves the skin's texture by adding cream, rose petals, sea salt and fresh fruit.

2018: fresh trends of the season

We are now enjoying the logomania that has taken over the fashion catwalks since last year. Do you love any brand? Confess your feelings to him right on your nails! If such a decision seems too bold to you, then let’s tell you a secret: minimalism has never let anyone down. Choose your favorite polish that matches your clothes or even your mood - and paint to your heart’s content. A plain manicure on short nails remains popular, but if you decide to grow them, give preference to an almond shape. It continues to be a hot trend.

Stains on nails are not only a cosmetic defect, but also a signal of health problems. How to decipher this warning?

The manicurist at the St. Petersburg beauty salon “Tchaikovsky, 26” Irina Chistyakova tells the story.

Problematic nails always indicate problems with health or a neglectful attitude towards it. Proof of this is leukonychia - spots on the nails. Most often they appear in those who are on strict and unbalanced diets.

A lack of vitamins and microelements can cause white spots or stripes to appear on the nail plates. They can have different shapes, directions and sizes.

Lack of zinc, calcium and iron deficiency play a role. And there’s nothing to say about vitamins - especially A, E and C. Their lack instantly affects the condition of the nails.

Lack of proteins also causes changes in nails. Paired transverse stripes appear on them. These changes most often appear in chronic kidney diseases, which provoke excessive excretion of proteins from the body.

These diseases can lead to chronic renal failure, which also leaves its own individual “stamp” on the nails. It's called "half and half." The changes are that the lower half of the nail becomes white, while the upper half remains smooth and pink. This picture should cause a person to see a kidney specialist.

Sometimes so-called Beau lines appear on the nails. These are the strangest changes. They can occur due to many reasons. But more often than not, these lines are a sign of an unprofessionally done manicure. If a woman processes the cuticle on her own, puts too much pressure on the tool or pushes the skin too far, the nail is injured. Transverse stripes appear on it, which are most densely located in the area of the hole. There is nothing you can do here, you just need to wait until the nail grows. And, of course, you need to do your own manicure more carefully, and even better, trust the experienced hands of a professional.

But in fairness, it must be said that Bo’s lines are not always the result of injury. They can also appear due to health problems. For example, a severe fever can cause nail growth to stop. Then, after some time, quite deep grooves will appear at their base. This is a confirmation of health problems that existed, but have already passed. In this case, you just need to wait for the nail to grow back. No master can polish Bo's lines completely. These grooves are very pronounced: their depth can reach 1 mm.

Sometimes black spots appear on the nails. This can be either hemorrhage or increased pigmentation. Let's start with the first one - with hemorrhages. Most often they are the result of blows or bruises. But sometimes the reasons are not so obvious. For example, subungual hemorrhages can be one of the symptoms of liver pathology. They can also serve as a symptom of endocarditis - inflammation of the inner lining of the heart. Therefore, if there were no injuries, but there is a bruise on the nail, you need to consult a doctor.

Now let's move on to nail hyperpigmentation. It is called melanonychia and is something like a mole. But if this mole appears suddenly, increases in size, and appears on the skin of the periungual fold, the first thing you should do is consult an oncologist. The fact is that such a picture may be a consequence of a tumor process that requires surgery. The main thing here is not to waste time and get advice from a competent specialist.

In conclusion, I would like to say that spots on the nails can be a consequence of skin diseases. For example, psoriasis can manifest as so-called oil spots. They are yellow-brown in color and are located closer to the edge of the nail. And fungal diseases make themselves known as white spots. At first these marks are small in size, and then they grow, occupying the entire nail. It becomes cloudy, dull, thickened and flaky. In this case, only serious antifungal therapy prescribed by a qualified dermatologist can help.
