The voice of the popular presenter Olga Shelest is known to almost every person who listens to the radio, watches TV or goes to the movies. Shelest Olga Vladimirovna was born on January 23, 1977 in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny, which is located in the northeast of Tatarstan. After school, Olga got a job at a local TV channel, where she worked for about a year. Having earned some money, the future star set off to conquer the capital's institutions. In Moscow, the first thing she did was go to the All-Russian State University of Cinematography named after Gerasimov, but did not manage to submit documents on time, and she had to forget about her career as an actress.
The girl was in no hurry to go home. Soon she came across an advertisement for recruitment to the Faculty of Television and Radio Broadcasting at the Humanitarian Institute of Television and Radio Broadcasting. Rationally deciding that the presenter’s profession is also related to television, Olga submitted documents.

— The fifth season begins in new conditions. What changes are you making?
— Participants, presenters, spectators - everyone is tested for coronavirus, everyone’s temperature is measured, behind the scenes we are all wearing masks. Of course, we now live in a different reality, and it is unknown when everything will stabilize, but I want to believe in the good. Therefore, we will try to ensure that our viewers receive a familiar picture of the TV show, and we will be optimistic about the future.
— One of the brightest participants of “Amazing People” at one time was the polyglot girl Bella Devyatkina. Are your daughters studying foreign languages?
— My children attend an English-language school: Muse from one year and ten months, and Iris from two years. They spend six to eight hours five times a week with English-speaking children, with people. The daughters are immersed in the language environment, it’s not even learning, but spending time, because they are still small. They study according to the international system, so at the age of 6 Muse will already be in second grade, and Iris is still a preschooler. They already speak excellent English. And I teach them Russian. It seems to me that I will soon receive a diploma as a primary school teacher, since I know all the teaching methods.
— Nowadays, many children learn several foreign languages at once from childhood.
— My children also learn Spanish. For the younger generation, English is no longer enough - they want to move around and feel confident in any country. There are studies that have proven that people who speak several foreign languages are more successful in life than their peers. Let's see how this all turns out.
— You always react very sincerely to the participants, you are amazed at their talents with all the richness of their facial expressions. Sorry, but this seems to indicate that you are for natural beauty, without beauty injections.
- Yes, because emotions are important to me. Especially when you’re talking to a child on a project, it’s harder for him to read your emotions if you laugh and get angry with the same face. I once tried Botox when I didn’t like the crease on my forehead. The minimum volume was injected. As a result, I cursed everything in the world. Because my forehead froze, my eyebrows drooped, I couldn’t raise them or frown. My body grasps this composition very well, and my face simply turns to stone. I realized that all these experiments were not for me - my face changes greatly with such intervention. It’s not for nothing that our face was given to us by nature with a certain facial expression. So that we can show when we are scared, interested, funny or sad. Doctors and scientists who are involved in preserving beauty need to think about how to preserve youth along with the emotions on the face.

Television career
A month after her arrival in the Russian capital, Olga Shelest found herself on television. Shelest successfully passed the casting of TV presenters on the Muz-TV channel. However, after six months the girl left there. Due to the fact that, according to her, she and the program director did not get along in character. However, the talented journalist was not left without work for long. Within a few months, she passed the competitive tests and became the host of the “Musical Prospect” program on STS. And then came a position on the NTV-plus music channel. In Moscow, Olga Shelest resolved the notorious housing issue quite quickly. She lived with her aunt for about a year, but after she got a job, she started renting an apartment. In 1997, third-year student Olga was hired as a presenter for the BIZ-TV channel, which a year later successfully transformed into MTV Russia. By the way, it was at this time that the journalist met the young, promising and ambitious television producer Alexei Tishkin, who is now a director, screenwriter and producer.
In 1998, Olga Shelest began hosting the “New Athletics!” program on MTV. about extreme sports, the author of which was Alexey Tishkin. The project lasted four years. In 1999, Shelest had already achieved certain heights. On the MTV channel she was quite a sought-after and popular VJ. This year she continued her work together with Anton Komolov. The creative tandem headed the “Gimlet Rule” and “Bright Morning” programs. In 2002, Olga Shelest, along with the entire team of VJs, such as Vasily Strelnikov, Yana Churikova, Anton Komolov, Tanya Gevorkyan and Ivan Urgant, left MTV due to a change in management. After this, the girl began broadcasting on NTV “Morning”.
The creative tandem of Shelest and Komolov enjoyed success with television viewers, which gave rise to inviting both of them to the Zvezda TV channel in 2007. There they hosted the entertaining talk show “Starry Evening with Anton Komolov and Olga Shelest.”
In 2008, Shelest was invited to become a participant in the TV show “Circus with the Stars” from Channel One. It was especially difficult for her, as a convinced vegetarian, to train animals. After the victory, Shelest became a supporter of vegetarianism and an ardent opponent of any exploitation of animals, including in the circus. In the future, programs with Olga’s participation become more and more popular.
One of the large-scale projects in which Shelest took part as a host is the popular talk show “Girls,” first shown on television in 2010.
It is also worth noting that Olga Shelest was a regular commentator, a kind of symbol of Russia at the Eurovision music competition. Since 2008, together with the famous sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev, she broadcast for several years.

After the birth of her daughter Muse, the TV presenter hastened to share her joy with friends and posted a photo of the baby online. She gladly accepted congratulations on this happy event from her colleagues, friends, relatives and acquaintances. Just recently, after the little daughter turned two months old, the young family returned to Russia. Now little Muse is already in her fourth month, and her mother has already made her debut on television, presenting her photo as part of the “Girls” program, to which she returned after her short maternity leave.

The presenter cannot sit without work for long and has already started filming on television. Last year was very busy for her professionally - Olga Shelest, along with other famous personalities - Vladimir Pozner, Ivan Urgant, Konstantin Kryukov and Andrei Makarevich, was elected ambassador of the “Together against Cancer” movement. The girl was born in August 2020, also in New York, and happy parents gave her an unusual name - Iris. Personal life
Alexey Tishkin was one of the directors of MTV; he had been eyeing the charming presenter for a long time, but she didn’t notice him at all. Once he was tasked with filming a promotional video with the participation of Olga Shelest. According to the script, she was supposed to walk around the city and eat colorful ice cream. The autumn weather was not at all conducive to such an activity: Olga was chattering her teeth from the cold, but did not complain, smiled at the camera and courageously endured all the inconveniences. After filming, he warmed her up with hot tea, covered her with a blanket and warmed her hands in his palms. And then he asked the girl out on a date.
Olga came with a new hairstyle and... in tears. It turns out that the MTV stylist demanded that she cut her hair short. How sorry she was to part with her long hair! From that day on they never parted. At first we talked on the phone for hours, met every evening, and then decided: we need to live together.
“There were no crises in our relationships in our biography,” says Olga after seventeen years of personal life together. “We are very lucky to have each other.” While all their friends and acquaintances came together, diverged, sorted things out and looked for new partners, they were together and enjoying every day.
They are simply an ideal couple: Olga Shelest, emotional, keen, prone to adventure, and Alexey Tishkin - calm, balanced, but always ready for adventure. By the way, there were plenty of adventures in their personal lives. They traveled, tried themselves in extreme sports, had fun all night long, and worked during the day - each built their own career, and both achieved considerable success.
During this time, they were pretty tired of the questions “when will you finally get married” and “when will you have children.” But they did not want to change anything to please the environment, even close people. Shortly before the birth of their second daughter, the young parents, Shelest and Tishkin, had an important change in their personal life: they got married after at least two dozen marriage proposals from Alexei. Late motherhood
— You became a mother for the first time at almost 37 years old. What have you answered all these years to the questions: “When are you going to give birth?”
- Of course, society puts pressure, especially if you live with one person for a long time - and Lesha and I lived for 16 years. More often such questions were asked by strangers; our loved ones were still well-educated and took it calmly. At some point, our mothers tactfully fell silent and realized that they would wait for their grandchildren, we just had to be patient. We needed to settle down, build a career, acquire some material benefits - not in the sense that “my baby deserves only the best!”, but I just didn’t want to reduce the quality of our life after the birth of a child.
My husband and I knew we would be parents, one way or another. We were not at all worried about the widespread opinion that it is necessary to give birth to a child, that this is a woman’s fulfillment. If it didn't work out on our own, we were ready for adoption.
We deliberately, and it seems to me, very wisely postponed having children. Over the past years, we have traveled a lot, engaged in self-development and were able to accumulate such a serious store of knowledge and impressions that now we definitely have something to pass on to our children.
How has motherhood changed the owner of the most recognizable voice in Russia?
So, in November 2013, on the 1st, in a New York hospital, a young couple gave birth to a girl, she was given the name Muse. And the youngest daughter, Iris, was born in 2020 on August 19. Such an unusual name is translated from Greek as rainbow.
Throughout her adult life, Olga has had a great passion for unusual names. She always felt irritated that her name was so common. Being pregnant with her daughters, Olga felt the desire to call them the rarest names. A. Shelest has a reputation as a very advanced mother.

Why did you accept 20th Century Fox's offer to
narrate Ice Age 3?
What did you expect from working on the cartoon? Voice acting for cartoons was my old childhood dream! I am a big fan of Klara Rumyanova, the actress whose voice speaks the Hare from “Well, wait a minute!”, Umka, Cheburashka and many other cartoon characters! I remember spending all my childhood pocket money on records with songs from cartoons. Therefore, when I was offered to become the voice of a funny mammoth in the Ice Age, I agreed without hesitation. It's great when dreams come true!
Was it easy for you to get into the role of your character? Did you train before dubbing: did you watch previous episodes, visit the zoo, or try to get into character in front of your family?
Aren't mammoths extinct??? I imagine what I would look like looking for a non-existent animal at the zoo. Dubbing, you know, is a simple matter. You just need to try to repeat the intonation and timbre of the voice of the actor who voiced the hero. Ellie the mammoth in the original version was voiced by Queen Latifah; she and I have similar voices, so I didn’t need any special training.
What similarities with your character did you discover while working on the cartoon?
We are both very smart and always right. It’s useless to argue with us, Ellie and I are stubborn girls and confident in ourselves and that we’re right. We also really value friendship, and if a friend is in trouble, whether you’re pregnant or not, help him out.
What quotes from your character could you choose as your life motto? Do you have any favorite phrases of your hero?
“Auntie with a belly wants to live!” - Ellie shouted this phrase, fleeing from the scary dinosaur. When they try to take me “weakly” or trick me into some kind of adventure, I kick back with this phrase. True, I don’t have a belly, but this is a fixable matter.
Were there moments when you improvised and came up with a phrase or even several phrases for your character? Did any of the proposed phrases make it into the final version of the cartoon? Name them.
I had to constantly improvise, because English speech sometimes sounded longer than Russian, because the phonetics of the English language are more melodious. My Russian phrase ended, but the character continued to move his lips. We had to come up with all sorts of additions. Instead of “How are you?”, essentially a translation of the phrase “How are you?”, we had to compose phrases one after another: “How are you? Everything is fine? Are you sure you're okay? Hold on, handsome!”
Admit it, how many hours did you spend on voice acting, and how much time did you “roll on the floor” laughing?
I managed to voice myself in 4 hours. I often rolled around laughing. For example, when the characters inhaled fumes and spoke in funny voices.
Which cartoon episode was the most difficult to dub and you succeeded 25 times?
The birth was difficult. When Ellie gave birth, I had to breathe, push, scream, sigh so often that I started to feel dizzy and had to stop to recover.

The funniest moments are when you voice your laughter. Because it is at these moments that it becomes not funny and, squeezing out fake laughter, you make everyone around you laugh, but not yourself.
Share your impressions of the first time you watched a cartoon in a cinema, what was your first reaction?
I laughed until I cried! When you see the full version, where pieces of your text are combined with what was voiced by other actors, it all looks, of course, completely different. The cartoon turned out to be really very funny, despite the fact that this is already the 3rd part. The authors were able to surprise and make everyone in the cinema laugh.
How do you feel about video piracy?
Negative. I never buy pirated products! Firstly, because I prefer quality. Secondly, I don’t mind spending 500 rubles on a disc, because I know that large companies and 20th Century Fox in particular spend a lot of money on charity, and I’m pleased that my little penny will help someone. And thirdly, it is a shame to buy pirated products. This is theft, and I'm not involved in it.

- In 2010, a new type of microorganism was named after Olga Shelest: a protozoan from the class of sunflowers - Acanthocystis olgashelestae.
- Ivan Urgant, by his own admission, owes his appearance on television to Olga Shelest and Anton Komolov. It was Shelest and Komolov who in 2001 defended Urgant’s candidacy at the casting of presenters on the MTV channel, although the producers wanted to refuse to hire the young St. Petersburger.
