All David Duchovny's tattoos

Tea Leoni

The actor first tied the knot in 1997 with an actress named Tea Leoni, known for starring in the films “Scammers: Dick and Jane Have Fun,” “The Family Man,” “Jurassic Park 3” and many others. David was 30 years old at the time of their marriage, and two years later the couple had a daughter named Madeline, and in 2002 the actor’s son, Kid Miller, was born. The acting union was far from ideal, and the couple broke up 11 years later due to Duchovny's diagnosed illness.

He publicly admitted that he suffers from hypersexuality and is unable to miss a single skirt. After undergoing a long course of rehabilitation from a psychological illness, David returned to the family and lived with Thea for several more years, and in 2014 the couple officially ended their relationship. After the divorce, the actor’s ex-wife commented on what happened: “10 years of family life and 10 years of work in Hollywood are equal to 50 years of ordinary life.”

The most interesting facts from the life of David Duchovny

Today, August 7, one of the most ex-actors, David Duchovny, celebrates his birthday. Some fell in love with his agent Mulder, and others were captivated by Hank Moody, but both his super popular heroes are distinguished by their special, unique charm, the same as the actor himself. But he did not immediately find out about his acting destiny. Having finished school well, David immediately entered Princeton University to study at the Faculty of Education. Then he dreamed of becoming a writer and did whatever he could to pay for his studies. And he managed to graduate with flying colors and then go on to graduate school at Yale University. But having become a Master of English Literature and preparing to defend his dissertation for a PhD on the topic “Magic and Technology in Modern Poetry and Prose,” David suddenly became passionate about theater.

His television career began trivially. From advertising. An attractive young man was invited to introduce Löwenbräu beer. And just two years later, David Lynch himself, highly appreciating Duchovny’s talent and attraction to eccentricities, invited him to play the role of a transvestite in three episodes of the TV series Twin Peaks. Further, in which Zalman King really liked him and ended up in The Red Shoe Diaries, after which it was already a stone's throw to The X-Files and world fame. And the famous “Californication” cemented his reputation as one of the most sexually attractive actors beloved by women. For David's birthday, we have selected the most interesting facts from his life.

1.

As a child, David had three dogs and four cats. His dog named Blue appeared in an episode of The X-Files.

2.

His father is Jewish from Poland, and his mother is of Scottish descent.

3.

David loves to read, play basketball, run and swim. His favorite band is The Rolling Stones, his favorite musical styles are funk and disco.

4.

5.

He loves Russian literature very much.

6.

He became the only actor to receive Golden Globes for Best Drama (“The X-Files”) and Comedy (“Californication”) Actor.

7.

David first married in 1997, at the age of 37, out of great love after a four-month romance. He married Tea Leoni in the chapel at the school where David's mother had taught for many years before.

8.

Two years after the wedding, the couple had a daughter, Madeleine West Duchovny, and three years later, a son, Kid Miller.

9.

After the birth of his daughter, the actor got a tattoo in her honor. And for their ten-year wedding anniversary, David and Thea got matching tattoos on their ring fingers.

10.

But in 2008, the couple announced that they wanted to separate for a while. The reason for the breakup turned out to be David's infidelity. And in order to save his family, he voluntarily underwent treatment for sexual addiction at the clinic. This helped, but, alas, not for long - in 2011, the couple signed the divorce document, maintaining friendly relations.

Gossip Cop calendar: David Duchovny was born

Today is the birthday of actor David Duchovny, who became famous for his role as Agent Mulder in The X-Files.
He turns 51 years old. Congratulations! David William Duchovny was born on August 7, 1960 in New York. His father, Amram Dukhovny, was from Lvov (his real last name was “Dukhovny”, and when he moved to the USA, he changed it a little). He was engaged in journalistic activities and wrote several books. David's mother Margaret, an emigrant from Scotland, was a school teacher. The actor also has a brother, Daniel, and a sister, Laurie.

The family lived very modestly, huddling in one room in an apartment they rented in Manhattan.

David's parents divorced when the boy was 11 years old, which was a difficult experience for him. For some time he was left alone with his older brother (his mother went to his native Scotland, his father decided to rent another apartment), who loved to make fun of him.

David grew up as a quiet and shy boy (his hobbies even included knitting), but very capable. He studied very well at school, loved poetry, and was fond of literary creativity. While studying in college, Duchovny wrote a very curious, serious essay beyond his years, “The Schizophrenic Critique of Pure Reason in the Early Novels of Becket,” for which he won a prize in an essay competition. David also tried his hand at the literary field. Among the books he wrote was the novel When Two Are Together, which dealt with the dissolute life of a New York bartender. True, it was not published.

Duchovny was also interested in sports. By the way, among his friends was the son of the late American President John Fitzgerald Kennedy Jr., with whom he played together on the New York Knicks basketball team.

By the way, they say that Duchovny began to show interest in girls quite early.

David entered Princeton University to study education. To pay for his studies, the young man worked as a bartender, food delivery man, and watchman. He went on to graduate school at Yale University, earning a master's degree in English literature and hoping to become a doctor of philosophy, preparing a dissertation on "Magic and Technology in Modern Poetry and Prose." And suddenly, while working on it, the young man suddenly realized that he was not doing his own thing.

In 1987, he was invited to appear in a commercial and, soon after, Duchovny quit working on his dissertation and began acting. He took acting lessons and tried himself on stage and in films.

David’s debut film work was a cameo role in the film “Working Woman” in 1988, after which he began to be invited to other projects. Among his first works was David Lynch's cult series Twin Peaks, where he appeared in several episodes as a drag queen DEA agent. They say that it was in this role that director Zalman King liked him, who invited him to play the role of the narrator and abandoned lover in the film, and subsequently, the series “The Red Shoe Diaries.”

But still, Duchovny’s role as Fox Mulder in the famous TV series “The X-Files” brought him worldwide fame, as well as recognition as a “sex symbol of thinking women,” in which he, together with agent Danna Scully (Gillian Anderson), investigate mysterious FBI cases, often connected with mysticism.

XX Century Fox producer Randy Stone noticed the actor at one of the film festivals and recommended him to the director of the series, Chris Carter. They say that at the first meeting he was not too impressed with Duchovny, however, after the auditions he changed his mind. The series became a real hit, it ran for nine seasons. After the seventh season, Duchovny left the project, appearing, however, in individual episodes. He has good friendly relations with his co-star Gillian Anderson.

"Secret materials"

Among Duchovny’s other numerous works are the films “Playing God” (1997) - here he played the main role for the first time, “Come Back to Me” (2000), “Evolution” (2001), “Secrets of the Past” (2004), “Trust man" (2005), "What We Lost" (2007), "The Secret" (2007) "Keeping Up with the Joneses" (2009).

The main project of the last few years for David is the series “Californication”, where he plays the talented and unlucky writer Hank Moody, very reminiscent of Duchovny himself.

"Trust the man"

"Come back to me"

"What We Lost"

"Californication"

In 1999, singer Bree Sharp wrote and performed a song about him called David Duchovny, in which the words: “David Duchovny, why don't you want to love me?”

Despite his popularity with women, Duchovny could not find his woman for a long time. She became the actress Tea Leoni (“Bad Boys,” “The Family Man,” “The Changeling”), with whom they got married on May 6, 1997 in the garden of the New York school where David once studied. They have two children: a daughter, Madelaine West, who was born on April 24, 1999, and a son, Kid Miller, who was born on June 15, 2002. The couple was inseparable, however, after 11 years of marriage, they separated. Duchovny admitted that he suffers from hypersexuality and underwent treatment.

On January 5, 2009, the couple reunited again, although, according to rumors, disagreements arose between them again. That doesn't stop them from spending time together often.

Duchovny enjoys reading, basketball, baseball, running and swimming. Among his favorite bands he names The Rolling Stones, the Black Crowes, Sly and the Family Stone, and Seventies Funk.

David Duchovny has received many awards, including the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award, TV Critics Award, and Emmy.

Biography of David Duchovny

Scottish and Ukrainian roots

David, half Scottish and half Jewish, was born into the family of New York writer Amram Duchovny on August 7, 1960. The family of Amram and teacher Margaret had three children: David, Laurie and Daniel. Immediately after the October Revolution, their paternal grandfather Moishe left the Ukrainian Berdichev and settled in the Big Apple. He worked as a correspondent for a Jewish newspaper published in Yiddish. Here Moishe met a pretty Polish woman and married her.

Duchovny's maternal relatives still live in Aberdeen, and David himself considers himself either Russian (Berdichev was part of the Russian Empire) or Ukrainian.

Five minutes to the doctor

After his parents' divorce in 1971, David stayed with his mother. He studied well and apparently inherited his father's passion for literature. After graduating from Princeton University (while studying, he worked part-time - he stood behind a bar and delivered groceries) Duchovny became a graduate student at Yale. A young master of English literature, he was writing his doctorate, but then the biography of David Duchovny took an unexpected turn.

Drastic changes

While still a student, he fell ill with the theater, and later made his way onto the stage (performing in off-Broadway performances). At the age of 26, David starred in a beer commercial and abandoned his dissertation: show business attracted him much more than writing. He began studying in a theater studio, and in the late 1980s he starred in an episode of the film “Working Woman” with Melanie Griffith.

One of the notable roles at the beginning of his career was Agent Dennis in Twin Peaks (Duchovny’s character, a transvestite, although bright, is secondary: he appears in three episodes of the show). After several minor projects, Duchovny starred in the erotic television film by Zalman King “The Red Shoe Diaries” and in the show based on it. But the main role in the film biography of David Duchovny was ahead.

In search of truth

On the recommendation of one of his familiar producers, the actor auditioned for the series “The X-Files” (they were looking for the main character of the show, the romantic Fox Mulder). The creator of the future TV hit, Chris Carter, almost refused David's candidacy, but after the casting he changed his mind. So Duchovny was “stuck” for many years in the fantastic “web” of the plot of “The X-Files.”

Together with his skeptical FBI colleague Scully, Duchovny's character investigates mysterious crimes. For seven seasons, Dana and Fox wandered in the dark, and moved from distrust of each other to friendship, and then to a love affair. The last two seasons were filmed without David - he left the show to appear only in the very finale.

Caught in a midlife crisis

The science-fiction project in the biography of David Duchovny was replaced by another, frivolous comedy. He reincarnated as writer Hank Moody, who was abandoned by both his beloved woman and his muse. Now he is rushing around in search of the “woman of his dreams,” and any pretty young lady could be his girlfriend.

“Californication” brought the artist a Golden Globe; the series’ ratings remained high for all seven seasons – its filming ended in 2014. Now on the “agenda” is a continuation of “The X-Files” with considerably matured heroes and the third season of “Twin Peaks.”
