How can you replace hyaluronic acid injections?

Injection methods to combat expression wrinkles.
A woman’s desire to look young and attractive forces her to resort to quite radical actions. Whether the game is worth the candle or whether there is another way to avoid age-related changes, we will figure it out.

Most often, by beauty injection we mean Botox injections. The procedure is not new, but is still at the peak of popularity. Many years have passed since the appearance of youth injections on the cosmetic services market. Visually, we have already managed to evaluate the changes occurring in the face after injections over time, fortunately photo and video confirmations are freely available on the Internet. And the stars of big and small TV delight us with interesting shots.

WHERE DOES BOTOX COME FROM?

The drug BOTOX is a patented brainchild of the American company Allergan. But today, according to established tradition, we call all products based on botulinum toxin Botox. Although this is not entirely true.

Botulinum toxin is an organic neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. It is one of the most powerful poisons, causing botulism when ingested.

It seems like you've heard this somewhere before, right?

Botulism is a toxic infectious disease caused by the release of the spore-forming bacillus Clostridium. It is found in humans, birds, horses and less commonly in cattle. The disease is quite rare and has not been fully studied.

It is conventionally believed that a person has encountered it in all periods of his existence. Documentation of symptoms, according to Wikipedia, occurred in 1793 after several people consumed blood sausage. The first description of botulism was recorded in a monograph by Justinus Kerner in 1822. It was then that it was called “sausage poison.”

Botulus – translated from Latin – sausage.

But the wand itself was discovered by Emil van Ermengem only in 1895. And off we go!

Historical experience confirms that human imagination is limitless. The poisonous bacterium was no exception. During World War II, the wand was used as a biological weapon. It was later discovered that small doses of purified toxin can be used to treat hyperkinesis - involuntary muscle contractions mistakenly caused by a command from the brain due to a malfunction of the central nervous system. Years of research and experimentation, and now the whole world is trumpeting about a panacea for wrinkles.

How can you replace hyaluronic acid injections?

A deficiency of hyaluronic acid has a very negative effect on the condition of the skin, joints, etc., so doctors and cosmetologists try to “introduce” it into the body in every possible way - they use it externally (drops, skincare cosmetics), by injection (beauty injections, intra-articular injections), and also oral administration (tablets, capsules).

Therefore, the question becomes more and more relevant: is there, in principle, anything similar to replace this remedy? Hyaluronic acid is a unique substance in its structure, so it has no analogues in its pure form and cannot exist. But maybe there are any substitutes that are at least half as effective?

First, let’s define what is hyaluronic acid?

Sodium hyaluronate is a substance belonging to the group of glycosaminoglycans (also otherwise called mucopolysaccharides, because they contain amino sugars-hexosamines that are beneficial for the body), which are one of the components of complex proteins - and are not found in free form in the body, so their introduction from the outside in the form of injections and drugs used externally, it has enormous benefits for the body. The biological significance of HA in the body includes the connection with proteinoglycans in connective tissue and the formation, together with collagen and elastin, of the connective matrix.

Hyaluronic acid has the following properties:

☑ Filling. It is used in dermal fillers to fill and correct skin defects - due to its density, hyaluronic acid literally squeezes sunken skin out, thereby evening out wrinkles and folds. Since this drug belongs to the group of biodegradable substances, that is, those that gradually dissolve themselves in tissues, they are much more harmless than silicone gels, which are prohibited in many countries.

☑ Moisturizing and nutrition. Since hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the extracellular matrix - the structure that forms the basis of connective tissue - it complements the lack of hyaluron in the cellular structure, which begins to be felt in people in old age. HA is capable of holding a mass of water a thousand times greater than its own.

☑ The regenerative properties of hyaluronic acid are also widely known and have gained it popularity. For example, drugs containing hyaluronic acid are widely used to affect the mucous membranes, since such substances have proven themselves to be excellent in healing injuries and relieving irritation caused by any damage to the mucosa.

☑ Improving metabolic processes in tissues is also the calling card of hyaluronic acid. Therefore, it is used both for cosmetic purposes and for medicinal purposes, for example, hyaluronic acid is injected into the joint cavity to lubricate rubbing surfaces and absorb stress on the joints by improving metabolism in the joint tissue.

Analogues and substitutes

Glycosaminoglycans include not only hyaluronic acid, but also several other similar substances, here is a list of them:

Heparin; Chondroitin sulfate; Dermatan sulfate; Heparan sulfate.

From the above list of substances, only Chondroitin sulfate and Heparin are used as drug therapy.

Heparin

Heparin is most similar in composition and properties to hyaluronic acid, however, if HA is safe even with regular injection use, the same cannot be said about heparin, since it does not pose a danger only as a base preparation of creams and ointments; in injections, heparin can be used exclusively under the supervision of a specialist, because a side effect of heparin is a decrease in blood clotting (hyaluron also has the same effect, but it is safe) can lead to heavy bleeding if taken incorrectly on a regular basis.

Chondroitin sulfate

Hyaluronic acid is found in all tissues of the body (although a larger amount is localized in the skin), chondroitin is found mainly in cartilage and joint tissue, as well as in the skin. Therefore, chondroitin injection procedures have a positive effect on the general condition of the joints. The mode of operation of hyaluronate and chondroitin is different - if the first substance stimulates metabolic processes in cells: exchanges of water, mineral salts and metabolites that are water-soluble. While chondroitin stimulates the production of chondroblasts - these are young cartilage cells - and prolongs their service life, so the condition of the cartilage tissue is stabilized and systematically increases the positive effects.

Therefore, complex therapy of hyaluronan and chondroitin sulfate has the most effective effect; the first substance stimulates metabolic processes in chondrocytes and the synthesis of enzyme parts of the joint.

Glucosamine

Separately, it is worth noting such a substance as glucosamine, this is an integral part of chondroitin - it serves the body as a precursor (a reagent that stimulates the production of the final substance) of hyaluron. The composition of glucosamine does not make it an analogue of hyaluronic acid, rather a substance that synthesizes it, however, the triptych hyaluron + glucosamine + chondroitin sulfate helps to achieve maximum effect in the treatment of joint tissue and relief of inflammation. It has been proven that the use of complex treatment from the above drugs has a powerful antioxidant effect on the body, which is not observed when using a separate drug.

So, the main biochemical analogues of hyaluronic acid, similar to it in composition and action, were analyzed. Most often they are used as a therapeutic practice, but what about their analogues in terms of cosmetic procedures?

It is worth going through the drugs described above

So, heparin is often used as anti-wrinkle creams and ointments. Heparin ointment has anticoagulant properties - that is, the ability to thin the blood, due to which it has a rejuvenating, anti-inflammatory and regenerative effect, and is also aimed at relieving swelling. Therefore, heparin ointment is used to reduce wrinkles, get rid of rashes and other inflammatory processes of the skin, reduce bruises and swelling.

Chondroitin sulfate is a fairly popular component of care cosmetics. Chondroitin has an active moisturizing effect due to its conditioning properties; its rejuvenating and protective effect prevents the formation of age-related changes and the occurrence of inflammatory processes in the skin. It is mainly included in anti-aging creams, moisturizing, nourishing and creams for the care of oily, combination, sensitive and allergic skin of the face and body.

Glucosamine is also actively used in skin care cosmetics. Since glucosamine synthesizes hyaluronic acid, which is an active component of connective tissue: collagen and elastin, glucosamine in cosmetic preparations provides the skin with elasticity, rejuvenation and an even tone without pigmentation.

Similar drugs in medicine

Many women are aware that hyaluronic acid is one of the most popular components of cosmetic products due to its amazing regenerative and anti-aging properties.

But its use is not limited to cosmetology; medicine has also found applications for it, for example, synovial fluid prostheses are used to treat joints. These are preparations based on hyaluronic acid, they are also called “liquid prostheses” and are a temporary substitute for joint fluid. For gonarthrosis of various origins, “liquid prostheses” are injected with a syringe directly into the joint.

Judging by surveys of rheumatologists, preference is given to Fermatron; it is most often prescribed for the diagnosis of OA of the knee joint.

Of course, this is not the only prosthesis based on hyaluronic acid - there are good analogues on the pharmaceutical market that are in no way inferior in quality and effect to Fermatron. You just need to try it, this remedy will be more suitable for one patient, and another will be more effective for others. It seems that chondroprotectors are similar in composition, but according to reviews from patients and doctors, they act differently, this is a fact.

The most popular preparations for joints containing hyaluronic acid:

Synvisc; Ostenil; Hyalur; Sinokrom; Visco Plus; Duralan.

The following drugs are not substitutes for synovial fluid prostheses, but also serve as protectors for joints and are used in conjunction with “liquid implants” in complex therapy.

Adgelon; Alflutop; Artradol; Don; Rumalon; Chondrolone; Elbona.

Injections into the knee joint for arthrosis make it possible to delay the replacement of worn-out joints for a long time.

Moisturizing drops

Hyaluronic acid is present in the eyeball, so it is not surprising that ophthalmology has not ignored this substance.

It is often included in eye drops, for example, natural tear moisturizing eye drops, which are almost always formulated with sodium hyaluronate.

Artelak; Vizmed; Stillavit; Oksial; Hilo-Gel; Hilokomod.

The drops presented below also serve to moisturize and relieve dry eye syndrome, the main difference is that they do not contain HA.

Oftagel; Vidisik; Hyphenosis; Innoxa; Systane; Slesin; Thealosis.

What cosmetic preparations are worthy substitutes for hyaluronic acid?

As was seen above, the main properties of hyaluronic acid can be simply considered: a rejuvenating effect, moisturizing and the creation of a protective film that prevents the loss of moisture from the skin, and an anti-inflammatory process. This list of effects is fully possessed by the cosmetic brand for skin care “Anna Lotan” - this is an Israeli trademark, which also speaks in its favor, since the quality of Israeli cosmetics is beyond doubt and this state has long acquired a strong positive reputation in this area.

The Anna Logan brand is a leading specialist in the field of cosmetic chemistry, cosmetology and the production of biochemical elements of cosmetics. This brand has a large number of patents and is successful in the treatment of seborrhea, rosacea and other problematic skin conditions.

The trade name of the brand is “Anna Lotan, Ltd.”, cosmetics are produced at their own factory in Caesarea, in the creation of drugs extracts of the Dead Sea, extracts of medicinal plants and technologies developed by the company are used.

A unique development in preparing the skin for cosmetic procedures is cool hydrogenation from Anna Lotan - its essence lies in the deep penetration of cleansing particles into the skin, nourishing it and removing pollutants. This method is much more gentle than traditional vaporization, exfoliants and acids. Cool hydrogenation provides safe cleansing without traumatizing seborrheic areas. Most often, plant extracts are used for cool hydrogenation, in particular aloe juice. Biological active substances in Anna Lotan cosmetic products are used in their natural state in the form of powders, gels, etc.

The Israeli brand strives to create the most natural cosmetic products, so the level of use of synthetic fragrances, preservatives and surfactants is kept to a minimum. Anna Lotan does not use products of animal origin and does not accept testing of cosmetics on animals, which in no way affects the quality of cosmetic products - since the tests are carried out on human cells, which gives even purer results than tests on animals, since human cells give a more adequate response to the human body.

BOTULOTOXIN IN COSMETOLOGY

In the beauty industry, botulinum toxin type A is represented by such companies as:

  • botox from America,
  • xeomin from Germany,
  • dysport from France,
  • lantox from China,
  • Neuronox from Korea,
  • relatox from Russia.

The market for Botox substitutes is still being successfully developed and developed. New names and countries appear, but the essence does not change. It is based on the same botulinum toxin. True, in the field of aesthetic medicine it is used in a purified and stabilized form.

To untangle the tangle, let’s break down the concepts into pieces.

What are wrinkles?

These are noticeable grooves on the skin that are caused by internal and external factors. Wrinkles are classified according to different principles, but we are interested in the typology based on the method of their formation.

So, dynamic and static folds are distinguished.

  • Dynamic
  • Static

These are familiar facial expressions of the skin caused by the active work of the facial muscles. From an early age, the skin gets used to constant emotional outbursts and leaves an imprint on the face. The habit of wrinkling your forehead, pursing your lips and squinting your eyes contributes to the formation of unpleasant wrinkles on the skin even at an early age.

They are usually called age-related and are directly related to loss of elasticity and lack of moisture, as well as disruption of cellular metabolism. Initially, the first wrinkles are more likely to be facial wrinkles, but any regularly repeated change leads to permanence. The amount of collagen and elastin is reduced. Losing life-giving fluid, they become coarser. The contours of the face become deformed, and the depressions become more pronounced - deep wrinkles appear.

How does the injection work?

Botox and its analogues work specifically with facial wrinkles. This is a kind of way to smooth out the surface.

The neurotoxin blocks acetylcholines (nerve excitation transmitters) produced by the body to contract muscles. The active substance works with nerve impulses, paralyzing them. The muscles stop contracting and relax. We observe this effect in the treated area.

You can smooth out certain areas in this way - lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows, corners of the eyes, grooves around the lips, dips on the chin and décolleté.

The visible result usually lasts for four to six months. Although we consider the procedure to be aesthetic, it is carried out strictly by specialists with medical education, since there is always a risk of a toxic substance getting in the wrong place, which can lead to a disastrous situation.

This procedure is considered effective only for patients under 50-60 years of age, since the obvious disadvantage is the inability of botulinum toxin to fight deep wrinkles.

From my point of view as a Mindful Beauty speaker :), the best beauty injections are being in nature, preferably as far as possible from civilization - in the mountains, on islands in the ocean, on lakes or in the wonderful Altai, where there is all of the above, except the sea.:(

The beauty of nature in such places has incredible energy and the ability to “elevate” our thoughts, and at the same time our energy, and also rejuvenate us, make us radiant and beautiful. It saturates, literally nourishes, provided, of course, that we really see it and enjoy it.

But this luxury - right now, before the New Year, to fly away for a month and immerse yourself in the contemplation of the Beauty of nature of our beloved planet - is not yet available to everyone. :(

And you need to shine, freshen and look prettier :). But we, of course, say “NO” to injection procedures that injure the skin and our energy and are never useful and find alternatives!

Today, such incredible developments are being made in the field of cosmetology and magnificent complexes, formulas and products are being created that can not only protect, restore and maintain our beauty, but also turn back time. And we just need to understand and know when, how and what to use! Yes, and closely monitor developments. Cosmetology does not stand still, and the fact that both Elle Macpherson and Christie Brinkley look so chic in their 50s and 60s is not only their daily work on themselves, a positive outlook on the world, meditation, an alkaline diet, an active lifestyle, love , the ocean and financial well-being (I think my list of these “not only” is far from complete :)), but also, of course, the achievements of cosmetology!

So, what “terms” should we have in our arsenal, and what products should be on our dressing table?! Or the “Reminder” series:

1. Obvious hyaluronic acid, BECAUSE BETTER HYDRATION HAS NOT BEEN INVENTED YET, and maybe they never will. Only the lazy didn’t write about her, and yet :)…

“What it does,” or the functions of hyaluronic acid in the body:

  • removes toxins;
  • stimulates the formation of new blood vessels in tissues;
  • Of course, it maintains moisture or, in a clever way, hydrobalance: one molecule of hyaluronic acid can attract 1000 times more water than it weighs.

Our skin care expert “EcoBioNatura” Switzerland!) as a moisturizer with an incredibly cool complex that not only retains water molecules (like, in fact, all hyaluronic acid), but also swells inside the wrinkles (oh , this is a nasty word, but there is no other one yet), “lays to the bottom” :), attaches water molecules, swells and pushes them out from the inside. The trick of the complex is that it uses low molecular weight dehydrated hyaluronic acid, enclosed in silica microspheres and stem cells.

2. Peptides.

We know about them, of course, but we are unlikely to be able to clearly explain what it is :).

And they, by the way, are the main fighters of the invisible front of regenerating cosmetics. In fact, peptides are organic amino acids or building materials of proteins, that is, our tissues, including collagen.

Used in cosmetics, replacing Botox procedures. Certain peptides here imitate the effect of botulinum toxin: they slow down the transmission of impulses from nerve endings to muscles, gently relax the muscle and smooth the skin.

And, indeed, they are the basis of cellular regenerating cosmetics:

  • guide and maintain the rate of stem cell division or renewal;
  • are transporters of active substances from cosmetic preparations into cells;
  • restore microcirculation in various layers of the skin, normalize the condition of the walls of blood vessels.

One of the best products from the EcoBioNatura arsenal: Emulsion with MISOJIUM peptides ( South Korea! ). Not a composition, but a feast for the eyes :) – moisturizes, rejuvenates, gives radiance:

  • Tocopherol acetate
  • Barbados Aloe Leaf Juice
  • Purslane extract
  • Camellia sinensis extract
  • Amla extract.

3. Plant stem cells are a bioactivator that renews even the deepest layers of the dermis . They are famous for their unlimited ability to divide and virtually unlimited regenerative capabilities.

And most importantly, they are able to directly influence the mitochondria of human skin cells as a powerful bioactivator, renew the deep layers of the dermis and improve cellular respiration!

Serum Botumimic for smoothing wrinkles HISTOMER.

Peptides + stem cells + hyaluronic acid = alternative to Botox injections.

The intelligent formula based on pure Argirelin peptide is aimed at working specifically in the area of creases/wrinkles!

Stimulates the synthesis of its own collagen and hyaluronic acid, restoring the skin in places of wrinkles.

Corrects the areas of the most pronounced expression wrinkles: wrinkles on the forehead and in the area between the eyebrows, wrinkles around the eyes and in the area of the nasolabial triangle.

Contains:

  • Argireline is a valuable peptide with a Botox-like effect for smoothing wrinkles.
  • Acetylglucosamine (a component of the Argirelifting Complex) is the main constituent element of the connective tissue matrix’s own hyaluronic acid.
  • Zanthalene - a plant extract obtained from Zanthoxylum Bungeanum, acts on the sensory receptors of the skin, relieving sensitivity and muscle tension.
  • Gardenia jasmine stem cells have a direct stimulating effect on collagen synthesis .

Cool?:)

4. And mandatory ampoule cosmetics. Here there is usually a greater concentration of usefulness, but it is done as a course!

For example, a very interesting complex of facial serums “Enriched cosmetics anti-age program 28 days” from Dr. Kozhevatkin. Perfect for both preparing for the New Year and as a gift.

The complex is interesting not only for its price :) and the fact that it was developed by a talented Russian scientist, but also because it is a program! Over the course of 28 days, we consistently work through several important stages (4-7 days each), using various serums:

  • with peeling effect;
  • revitalization and hydration;
  • rejuvenation at the cellular level;
  • restoration of tone!
  • nutrition;
  • protection and support.

It contains, of course, hyaluronic acid, healthy sea buckthorn oil, collagen, vitamin E and much more :)...
So you can prepare for the New Year very effectively, you just need to start now!

To everyone, Beauty, Radiance and useful products on your dressing table that are right for you!

SIDE EFFECTS OF INJECTIONS

During and after the introduction of the drug, the following may occur:

  • asymmetry of the face due to overdose and inaccurate administration,
  • violation of facial expressions,
  • unplanned relaxation of the wrong muscles (due to drug flow under the skin)
  • swelling and drooping of the eyebrows and eyelids (ptosis) due to improper application of the composition,
  • hematomas and pain,
  • allergic reactions,
  • dizziness, weakness, lethargy,
  • increased body temperature, chills,
  • “doll” face, which looks more like a mask (due to an overdose).

Complications are most often associated with the incompetence of the cosmetologist who performed the procedure. Changes after the injection do not always satisfy the client, and sometimes even upset the client. Some people develop immunity, which depreciates all subsequent procedures.

There are also a number of contraindications. In case of chronic pathologies of the lungs, kidneys, liver, cancer, poor blood clotting, neuromuscular diseases and in other cases, it is strictly prohibited. The period of pregnancy, feeding and planning a child is a reason to refuse procedures.

“Beauty injections” are not for the face: where else are injections given?

There are so many injection techniques for the body in the world that they offer “beauty injections” literally from head to toe. According to the Vademecum analytical center, the number of specialized services provided in Russia in 2020 exceeded 12 million manipulations, and the total costs of patients for “beauty injections” exceeded 100 billion rubles. This niche in cosmetology occupies a leading position and has continued to grow in recent years.

Head

“Meso-cocktails and one’s own plasma are injected into the scalp to combat baldness, and botulinum toxin preparations are also injected against migraines,” says Victoria Sokolova, a dermatocosmetologist at the Tevoli beauty studio on Belorusskaya.

In the 70s, botulinum toxin was actively used to treat neurological diseases, such as neuromuscular diseases, post-stroke spasticity, and strabismus. Over time, during the use of drugs based on botulinum toxin, relief of migraines and an aesthetic effect - smoothing out facial wrinkles - were revealed. As a rule, the drug is injected into fixed points on the forehead, between the eyebrows, on the temporal and occipital muscles, as well as the muscles of the neck and shoulder girdle.

Armpits, palms, feet

“Some clients inject botulinum toxin into the armpits to reduce sweating. Moreover, this procedure is in demand not only among people with profuse sweating; many people also undergo injections for preventive purposes (the result lasts for about six months). Botulinum toxin injections can also be given in the palms and feet - this is useful for those who sweat more often due to stress,” says Elena Samokhvalova, dermatocosmetologist at the Ottimo clinic.

In such cases, Botox acts in a similar way to rejuvenation or getting rid of migraines: nerve impulses are stopped.

earlobes

One of the latest Hollywood trends is the injection of hyaluronic acid into the earlobes. According to Dr. Karin Grossman of Los Angeles, many actresses undergo this procedure because of the frequent need to wear heavy earrings on the red carpet. As a result, the earlobe becomes more elastic, the hole for earrings is smaller, and the effect lasts up to two years.

Hands

Like the neck, the skin on the arms shows age. Biorevitalization and plasma therapy work well in this area. “In a huge selection of biorevitalization products, the main component is unstabilized hyaluronic acid. In plasma therapy, it is the plasma itself. The result is a thickening of the dermal layer, improved tone, hydration, smoothing of wrinkles and improved color,” says Alena Šilkinenė, cosmetologist at East Side Ostozhenka.

Nose

One of the most popular procedures recently is nose correction using a meso-cocktail. “It is essentially a replacement for rhinoplasty. In this case, a drainage cocktail is also used. A drug is injected into a certain area in the required dosage, which reduces subcutaneous fat tissue: the fat cell is preserved, but decreases in volume, and intercellular water also leaves. The effect lasts for 1.5–2 years, then the procedure can be repeated. The drugs used are herbal, so they do no harm,” says Olga Moroz, a leading cosmetologist and founder of the Aesthetic Medicine Clinic of the same name.

Neck and décolleté

For these areas, fillers based on stabilized hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxyapatite, collagen or autologous fat are used. Such drugs are good for sculpting and correcting wrinkles.

Buttocks

Another trend in aesthetic medicine is injections of dense fillers containing hyaluronic acid into the gluteal area. “They are made to add volume to the buttocks and tighten them. In general, non-surgical lifts are very popular today. They are suitable for both the buttocks and the abdomen or sagging skin on the arms. They are made with mesothreads, which consist of hypoallergenic polydioxanone, which is completely harmless to the client’s health,” explains Elena Samokhvalova.

Hips, abdomen, knees, axillary ridges

Mesotherapy cocktails can be administered wherever the skin loses collagen over time and becomes flabby. “The method of influence is the same in all cases: the cosmetologist develops a mesotherapy program that removes intercellular fluid, providing a lymphatic drainage effect, increases blood flow in the corrected area, and dilates blood vessels. Thus, microcirculation improves and metabolism increases - all this contributes to lipolysis, that is, the reduction of fat deposits, advises Olga Moroz. — Mesomedicines are mainly venotonics and indirect lipolytics. The former serve to have a lymphatic drainage effect, reduce intercellular fluid, and improve blood supply. The latter reduce the size of the fat cell, but it does not die. All herbal preparations are eliminated from the body within a few days. They do not cause any harm to health. The problem is corrected quite quickly."

But it is worth keeping in mind that in the last two cases the effect is achieved after a course of procedures and in combination with proper nutrition and physical activity.
