Lev Milinder: How the talented grandfather of Ivan Urgant lived

The TV presenter on the air of “Evening Urgant” apologizes to the Ukrainians for this joke in the culinary program “Smak”: “I chopped the greens like the red commissar of the inhabitants of the Ukrainian village.” The showman said that he did not want to offend anyone and simply said something stupid without thinking. “I couldn’t even imagine that in a humorous program, a program in which I never talk about anything seriously, that a bad joke I said could cause such a sharp reaction in Ukraine, in the country that I love very much.”

Ivan Urgant apologizes to the Kuban communists for a joke about the monument to Vladimir Lenin, who was deprived of his mustache and beard after restoration. The communists demand that a criminal case be opened on the grounds of “inciting social discord” and that the presenter be removed from the air. In addition, they call on Urgant’s grandmother “to boycott her grandson as a sign of solidarity with the communists of Kuban.” Urgant asks the communists to forgive him in honor of their favorite holiday - Forgiveness Sunday, which took place the day before. The presenter promises to insert a disclaimer before the start of “Evening Urgant” with a warning that the program may contain distorted images of leaders.

Ivan Urgant

In the mid-nineties, he was a bartender's assistant, emptying ashtrays and rejoicing when he found a hundred dollars on the floor. Music critic Oleg Karmunin described the early Ivan somehow this way (quote, sorry, inaccurate). But Urgant himself deceived time: he, unlike most of his colleagues, first hosted corporate events and parties, and only then got on TV, in the St. Petersburg show “Evening Courier”.

From there Urgant moved to MTV. I met Shelest and Komolov, failed the first casting, became disillusioned with the people of the capital, but came to audition for “Bright Morning” again. To break.

“I remember how someone in the control room, without turning off the microphone, cackled during the break and said: okay, that’s it, we’re done with this idiot! And I sat there, sweating with fear. Returning to St. Petersburg, I said to myself and my relatives: “This is all exaggerated, a soap bubble...”

The distances didn't bother me. Urgant traveled from St. Petersburg to Moscow by train, and his MTV salary of $400 was spent on round-trip tickets.

The presenter apologizes for the collage with the “Blagoveshchensk psychic cat,” who was given the face of television healer Anatoly Kashpirovsky on the air of “Evening Urgant.” Kashpirovsky demands that Channel One pay compensation in the amount of 500 thousand rubles and issue a refutation, since the photoshop could harm his business reputation. Urgant tries to imagine this situation: “[The man] gets ready, looks for the address of Anatoly Kashpirovsky - and then a photograph appears [with a cat]. How can a person trust this doctor after something like this, to whom you can’t even leave your shoes?” In total, this collage is shown four times per program. At the end of the story, Urgant displays the second, “correct” collage, in which a cat’s face was attached to Kashpirovsky’s body.

Childhood and youth

Maria was born on November 10, 1984. Her father is the famous artist Andrei Urgant, and her grandmother is the dramatic performer Nina Urgant. Mother Alena Svintsova studied at LGITMiK on the course of Ruben Agamirzyan, and after graduation she received recognition as an actress and poetess. From 1977 to 1996 she was involved in performances at the Theater. V.F. Komissarzhevskaya in St. Petersburg.

Svintsova was married to Urgant Sr. The personal life of the stars did not work out, and the couple divorced. A few years after the breakup, in 1996, Alena moved to the Netherlands, taking her daughter with her. There the artist got married and raised a girl in accordance with European traditions.

Despite the fact that her parents separated, Maria continued to communicate with her father and did not lose contact with part of the family who remained in St. Petersburg. She maintained a warm relationship with her brother Ivan.

The presenter returns the “Apology from Ivan Urgant” section, now it is called “Mi scusi”. Urgant talks about a traffic police officer from Chelyabinsk who briefly blocked traffic so that a lame dog could safely cross the road: “As the drivers said, the road was blocked again because of some bitch.” This time the presenter is proactive. Urgant apologizes in advance, in the same issue, in case someone thinks that he meant the traffic police officer.

Dmitry Nagiev

Dmitry started with the St. Petersburg radio station “Modern”. He won several prizes as the best DJ in the country, but understood that all this was just local fame. Hung with medals, Nagiyev remained a pathetic no-name from peripheral radio, and the only way to correct this misunderstanding was to move to the capital. To spite Yakubovich and the others.

“Leonid Yakubovich presented me with a prize without knowing my name. He called me: “What do you think?”

But the legendary “Beware, modern!” was not Dmitry’s debut television project. Before this, my uncle worked on Channel 5, hosting the little-known show “Telecompact”. Again - for St. Petersburg residents and those nearby.

Ivan Urgant apologizes to believers for the issue of January 7th. This day coincided with Christmas and the birthday of actor Nicolas Cage. Then, on the air of “Evening Urgant,” they showed a comic collage in which Cage was placed in the scene of the birth of Christ in a manger, surrounded by “magi”: directors Nikita Mikhalkov, Quentin Tarantino and Steven Spielberg. After this, State Duma deputy Nikolai Zemtsov, at the request of the “Forty Sorokov” movement, turned to Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov with a request to initiate a criminal case against the leader. In the January 27 issue, Urgant admits that the collage turned out to be “dubious.” The showman emphasizes that this was not a “planned action to mock Christian values” and asks, if possible, to “withdraw your curses.”

Petersburg Ivan Urgant

Gymnasium at the Russian Museum

Young Vanya studied at the gymnasium at the Russian Museum. The showman’s current wife, Natalya Kiknadze, also studied in the same class with him. Their path to life together turned out to be long and winding. Both Ivan and Natalya managed to start families after graduating from high school. Ivan had an official marriage with Karina Avdeeva, and then a civil marriage with TV presenter Tanya Gevorkyan. Natalya was also married. Only after reaching almost 30 years old did they realize that they were made for each other.

Children's music school No. 18

In parallel with the gymnasium at the Russian Museum, Ivan studied at children's music school No. 18, which at one time graduated from Igor Butman, Alexander Rosenbaum and Nikolai Fomenko. Urgant studied drums for four years, then dropped out of school, but was able to independently learn to play the guitar, piano and recorder. He still retains his love for music. Back in the 1990s, Ivan tried to compose music himself. In 1998, with the support of Maxim Leonidov, he released the album “Star”, which included 16 songs of his own composition. Then Ivan’s work went unnoticed. Now the situation has changed a lot. Having reached the peak of fame as a showman and TV presenter, Ivan resumed his singing career and since 2011 has been performing under the pseudonym Grisha Urgant.

Restaurant "Chaika"

Urgant earned his first money at the age of 9. Little Vanya was crushing ice at the Chaika restaurant, which was located in the same building where the Urgants lived. Ivan received 5 rubles for his work. Of these, he spent 3 rubles 50 kopecks on the Rolling Stones’ “Lady Jane” record, and the remaining one and a half rubles (as Ivan jokes) “on cigarettes, booze and women.”

BDT

Ivan made his debut as an actor at 4 months. In the play “Brothers and Sisters,” Urgant played a baby who was carried onto the stage by Andrei Krasko’s character. Ivan was not paid anything for this performance. I had to wait another 18 long years for my next role. Already studying at the St. Petersburg Academy of Theater Arts, Ivan made his real debut on stage: in the play “Macbeth” he played the 12th guard.

Strip bar

After the role of guard No. 12, Ivan, at best, was waiting for the role of guard No. 11. Realizing that his whole life would pass before he reached the role of chief of guards, Ivan decided to earn money in other ways. He worked as a waiter, a bartender, and sang songs in Spanish in a restaurant (while not knowing Spanish). The culmination of his then career was the role of the host in a strip bar. Urgant carefully hides the name of this establishment, so we were unable to find out its exact address. Urgant performed there under the pseudonym Jean-Michel. (By the way, before Urgant, the presenter was Mikhail Porechenkov, then unknown to anyone, who took the pseudonym Jacques).

Ivan himself recalled this original page in his biography as follows: “I worked in a strip bar under extreme conditions. In such establishments it is very difficult for the presenter to attract attention. Besides this, I have never seen so many naked women in my life and, I’m afraid, I will never see them again. Unless I get a job as a bathhouse attendant..."

"Channel Five"

The work at the strip club lasted two years. Finally, Vanya managed to get a job as a DJ at Super Radio, but the audience of this radio station was extremely small. From Super Radio, Ivan moved to Russian Radio, and then to Hit FM. At the same time, Urgant hosted the program “Petersburg Courier” on Channel Five, where he told stories about factory everyday life and confectionery factories.

Petersburg "rear"

Urgant Jr.’s career took off sharply after he managed to get the phone number of Anton Kamolov through his friends, who invited him to come to the casting of MTV presenters. Since then, Ivan Urgant has firmly established himself at the top of Russian show business. Now Ivan lives in Moscow. But he doesn’t break ties with his hometown – he often comes here on weekends. Back in 2007, Ivan bought an apartment on the Kryukov Canal embankment with a wonderful view of St. Nicholas Cathedral and the Mariinsky Theater. So the “St. Petersburg period” in the biography of Ivan Urgant is by no means over...

Ivan Urgant apologizes to Roscosmos and its head Dmitry Rogozin. Rogozin was outraged by the presenter’s joke about reducing the requirements for cosmonauts. Now, according to Urgant, people with a criminal record or mental disabilities will allegedly be able to go into space. Rogozin said on Twitter that after eight years on air the showman had “a calloused tongue” and had run out of jokes. Urgant sneers: “The insult came straight from heaven.” The presenter about eight years on air is a lot, but for the construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome it’s nothing at all: “There wasn’t even time for anything to become calloused there.” After these words, Urgant reprimands the “scriptwriter” who came up with a joke about Roscosmos. Victor, an elderly man in a vest, is brought onto the stage. Urgant asks Victor not to joke like that again: “Dmitry, don’t lower your standards for cosmonauts. One time we lowered the requirements for screenwriters - and look who we have to deal with.”
