Dry facial skin: main signs

How to tell if you have dry skin

To properly care for your face, you need to be able to determine your skin type. An important sign indicating dryness is a feeling of tightness immediately after washing. Discomfort increases when exposed to hot sun rays and temperature changes in winter. Dry air, which is formed in rooms with operating heating devices, has a negative effect on the face.

There is a simple test that will help you determine your skin type yourself, without the help of a specialist. It is necessary to cleanse the skin of contamination - remove all cosmetics, wash, and wait three to four hours. Prepare thin paper or special cosmetic wipes that need to be applied: one on the forehead and nose, one on the cheeks and cheekbones, one on the chin. Press the napkins tightly to your face so that there is no gap, and wait a few seconds. For dry skin types, the wipes will remain clean without any traces.

Folk remedies for dry skin

Folk remedies for dry skin are very popular precisely because they are distinguished by the most gentle and thorough care. This article is devoted to the care and proper use of various natural compounds.

Causes, types and symptoms of pathology

Such skin very quickly becomes thin, vulnerable, and tight. Premature appearance of wrinkles is the main disadvantage of this type.

Determining it is quite simple - with your fingertips you need to press firmly in the cheekbone area. If the touch mark does not disappear immediately, it means that the cover is not sufficiently moisturized or elastic.

The main reason for dry epidermis is decreased function of the sebaceous glands. Usually there are two types of pathology - external and internal.

The second is mainly associated with diseases of the digestive system and the consequences of an unhealthy lifestyle.

Women themselves can successfully cope with the solution to the external problem of dry epidermis. Often the “culprits” are improper care and complete disregard for moisturizers for dry skin.

Benefits of treatment

The most gentle and affordable are natural and natural cosmetic procedures. A huge advantage will be the minimal presence of contraindications to these methods.

Most women prefer these methods. Their benefits are known to everyone, but the composition can be unique and individual for everyone.

The advantage is the ability to perform all procedures at home, at any convenient time. It will also be easy on your wallet.

All components can be purchased in pharmacies at very reasonable prices.

Folk recipes

In the process of caring for this type, several basic procedures can be distinguished. All of them are made using mixtures made according to well-known recipes.

Cleansing

You should never wash it with hot water. Only softened room temperature is suitable for it.

For daily makeup removal, fat-containing components are recommended that eliminate drying.

Then the dermis can be wiped with a cotton swab dipped in milk, sour cream or vegetable oil.

Potato

Boil

Washing

Black bread

Soak in a small amount of boiling water, cool slightly

Apply the resulting slurry to the surface. Let the mask dry a little and then wash it off with warm water.

Herbs

Decoctions and infusions of herbs that can be used for rubbing or steam baths work very well.

Chamomile-linden infusion is prepared as follows: chamomile flowers, linden flowers, peppermint leaf, willow leaf and oak bark are mixed in equal proportions. Then pour 2 tablespoons of the resulting mixture with 2 liters of water and bring to a boil. After 4 hours the procedures can be carried out.

A decoction of rosemary herb, wild chestnut fruit, chamomile and white birch leaf is prepared and used in a similar way.

Following cleansing, there are procedures that involve tonics.

Tonics

Toning, on the one hand, is the completion of cleansing procedures, and on the other hand, it is an independent procedure. It prepares the dermis to absorb traditional masks and creams, improves the condition of blood vessels and stimulates metabolic processes.

Yolk and sour cream

Yolk-sour cream tonic has proven itself well. It consists of 3 egg yolks, 100 grams of sour cream, 50 ml of cognac and 50 ml of water. Grind sour cream and yolks, add liquid ingredients. The resulting mixture is stored in the refrigerator.

Mint and calendula

A tonic made from mint and calendula has an effective effect on the dermis. It is prepared like this:

13 tablespoons of dried peppermint leaves are poured into 1 liter of boiling water and brought to a boil.

2 Add 4 teaspoons of boric alcohol, 2 tablespoons of calendula and one teaspoon of wine or apple cider vinegar to the strained broth.

Vinegar can be replaced with lemon juice.

Apple tree bark

Here is another good remedy for dry skin. This is a lotion made from apple tree bark. His recipe is as follows: bring 3 glasses of water to a boil, add 4 tbsp. spoons of apple bark, 1 tbsp. a spoonful of lemon balm and 1 tbsp. spoon of sage.

It is very good if you add the same natural cleansing preparations to natural tonics.

Scrubs

Scrubbing is a deep cleansing of pores, its effect is approximately the same as that of toning. But this procedure is carried out using more traumatic methods, so professionals recommend using gentle means at home.

Based on honey

One of the most gentle scrubs is made from honey, oatmeal and cottonseed oil. Mix half a glass of oatmeal with a quarter glass of honey and a quarter glass of cottonseed oil. After applying the mixture to the care area, gently rub it in in a circular motion. Leave for 15-20 minutes and rinse with warm herbal tea.

Based on matsoni

A scrub made from ground grains and matsoni also works delicately. Mix finely ground coffee beans and matsoni in equal proportions, for example, 1 tablespoon each. The composition is applied to the face and easily massaged. After 30 minutes the product can be removed.

Scrubs must be used very carefully. To avoid negative consequences, 1 procedure per week will be enough.

Masks

After the epidermis is cleansed and toned, it is prepared for the next steps using folk masks for dry skin.

For hydration and nutrition, there are wonderful techniques for maintaining balance based on natural ingredients. Here are some recipes.

Tomato

Tomato sauce contains grated tomato and starch. They are mixed until a paste is obtained and a few drops of vegetable oil are added. The composition is kept for 15-20 minutes.

Linen

A flaxseed mask also works well – 2 tsp. flax seeds are poured with 2 cups of boiling water and boiled. The cooled mass is applied to problem areas and then washed off alternately with hot and cold water.

Silver water

The so-called “silver” water also has unique properties. Even in comparison with many antibiotics, silver has higher antimicrobial properties. That is why it is an excellent antiseptic.

It can be obtained using hardware. If they are not there, it is enough to simply throw the cleaned silver product into the water. True, the concentration of such water, compared to equipment water, will be less.

Make a cleanser like this:

1 Mix 1 tsp. olive oil, 1 egg yolk and 1 tbsp. l. silver water.

2The prepared mixture is applied in 2 layers to the face or problem area for 15 minutes, and then washed off with cold black tea.

Spoiled milk

Any fermented milk products have a wonderful effect on thin, dry skin. You can safely apply them to your face, not forgetting to moisturize well afterwards.

Mashed potatoes in the form of a mask are a kind of “first aid”.

Using such care products, you can be sure that your cosmetics consist only of high-quality and natural ingredients.

Crema

Natural creams against dry skin have a very good effect.

Vitamin

You can prepare a vitamin cream for nightly application.

For this purpose 50 gr. creamy margarine and 3 tbsp. Olive oil must be melted in a water bath at a temperature no higher than 80-90 degrees and mixed thoroughly. Add 2 egg yolks, 2 tsp to the cooled mass. honey, 1 tsp. glycerin and 2 tbsp. chamomile infusion.

Whisk all ingredients and store the resulting cream in a dark place.

In equal proportions it is necessary to grind the leaves of nettle, rowan, parsley, currants and petals of jasmine, rose and peony. Next melt 50 gr. margarine, 10 gr. beeswax and 1 tbsp. l. peach oil. To this mixture add 10 drops of vitamin A solution and 10 g. plants.

Then mix thoroughly and store in the refrigerator.

Oil based

High results are achieved by adding various oils to prepared creams.

Almond - perfectly smooths out wrinkles between the eyebrows, and rosehip - moisturizes after a sauna, bath, bath.

Precautionary measures

Do not forget that all dosages must be strictly observed; even harmless plants can cause harm if the proportions are not correct.

After a month of care, it is advisable to change the applied tonics, creams, masks, scrubs, alternating with others. This is done so as not to cause an addictive effect. You can simply change the composition of the mixture by replacing one component with another.

It is necessary to strictly maintain the temperature and storage conditions.

Causes of dryness

Dry skin can be congenital. There are other reasons that contribute to a decrease in moisture levels in the skin, namely:

Age . Over time, your skin type may change. Oily skin has the ability to become normal, normal skin has the ability to become dry. There is a pronounced disturbance of water balance.

External factors . Dry skin can occur when using heating appliances in winter, washing with hard water, or moving to a different climate zone.

Incorrect care . If you have excessive dryness, you need to regularly saturate your skin with moisture. If you don't do this, the dryness gets worse. It can develop when washing with hot water, using alcohol-containing care cosmetics, or alkaline soap.

Disorders in the body . Diseases of the nervous, endocrine, and digestive systems can contribute to increased dryness of the skin.

Unbalanced diet . Lack of certain nutrients and improper drinking regimen negatively affect the condition of the skin. It becomes drier and often flakes off.

How to quickly soften the skin of your face, hands and feet at home

In modern conditions, when cosmetic stores offer a huge range of face and body care products, most women have one or another skin problems.

It seems strange, but if you remember at least briefly what our skin has to endure, you can stop being surprised. Many different factors negatively affect the skin of the face, hands and feet - it becomes rough and rough.

But what to do? As always, folk remedies for softening the skin at home come to the rescue. We’ll talk about how to soften the skin of your face, hands and feet right now.

Why does the skin need to be softened?

Polluted air, chlorinated water and household chemicals are integral attributes of the life of any urban woman, and UV radiation, which has increased today due to the destruction of the ozone layer, and temperature changes, which also appear much more sharply, complement the negative impact.

Therefore, the skin, which has “picked up” toxins, does not have time to cleanse and restore itself, dries and becomes rough; those parts of the body that are constantly open, like the hands and face, “get” more, and the legs also endure colossal loads every day - after all, most women wear high-heeled shoes even in cases where they can be dispensed with.

If you don’t pay enough attention to your skin, it quickly loses its freshness and attractiveness, begins to thicken (or vice versa, thinner), peels off and becomes covered with cracks.

Outwardly, it looks very ugly, but can result in a variety of health problems: for example, any infection can enter the bloodstream through cracks in the heels, and a heavy and awkward gait - because it is impossible to step on the entire foot normally - can lead to a sharp deterioration in posture, and , as a result, to the development of internal diseases.

Beauty salons, like the already mentioned stores, are always “helpful” to us, but not all women can yet afford to regularly undergo caring procedures and buy effective and expensive cosmetics from us. You can’t give up skin care, but you can remember the “well forgotten” methods that have not lost their effectiveness: baths, masks, lotions and creams based on folk recipes.

Folk remedies for the face

Masks with natural ingredients - simple food products - help restore tenderness and velvety to the face. How to soften your facial skin at home?

If the skin dries, peels and becomes rough, egg yolk with vegetable oil will help - a kind of homemade mayonnaise.

The best option is olive oil, but you can take any unrefined oil, soak a cotton swab in it and clean your face - the oil perfectly dissolves impurities. Apply more oil to the skin, and top with the yolk, rubbing it in a thin layer.

Fingers need to be moistened in hot water - so, when mixed with oil, the yolk forms a foam like mayonnaise. After 20 minutes, rinse off the foam and apply a homemade nourishing cream according to your skin type.

For example, dry, aging skin is well softened by a cream with plantain juice (1 tbsp) and an aqueous infusion of coltsfoot leaves (1 tbsp). Heat lanolin (1 tsp) and olive (corn) oil (1 tbsp) in a water bath, add juice and infusion, heat for another 3-5 minutes, stirring; remove and beat quickly. Store the cream in the refrigerator and apply to face morning and evening.

An excellent way to soften facial skin, especially very dry skin in winter, is to use pork fat 2-3 times a week: it effectively smooths out wrinkles and nourishes the skin. The fat is applied for 20 minutes and then carefully removed with a dry cloth. The course is 2 months, can be carried out 3-4 times a year.

How to soften the skin of your hands

Hand baths are the simplest and cheapest means of softening the skin. And here again, coltsfoot helps, as well as many other herbs - for example, everyone knows the healing properties of chamomile, which is especially effective when it is necessary to eliminate the consequences of hand contact with household chemicals and chlorinated water.

Homemade baths to soften hand skin

An excellent softening bath is made from a decoction of marshmallow and plantain. These herbs are mixed 2:1, boiled for 15 minutes in 300 g of water over low heat, honey is added and left to infuse for 6-8 hours. Before use, warm up the broth and make a hand bath for 20 minutes.

A mask with raw potatoes will help soften and whiten rough and darkened skin on your hands. Peeled potatoes are grated on a fine grater, 1 tsp is added to the pulp. honey and 1/2 tsp. fresh juice of any fruit or vegetable (apple, carrot, cabbage, etc.). The mixture is applied to cleansed skin of the hands and left for half an hour; wash off with slightly warm water.

Masks and creams to soften the skin of the hands

Both after the bath and after the mask, you can and should use a homemade softening hand cream. For 50 g of softened butter – 1 tsp. vodka and honey, strong chamomile infusion (1 tbsp). Mix everything thoroughly and store in the refrigerator. This cream can also be applied at night.

Another skin softening cream: mix cosmetic clay of any color (1 tsp) with 1 tsp. glycerin, add 2-3 drops of lemon juice and mix again.

This cream can be stored in the refrigerator for only a week, but it perfectly helps hands recover from “dirty” household work and contact with household chemicals, eliminates flaking, softens and brightens the skin.

Apply to slightly damp hands, after 10-12 minutes, rinse with lukewarm water and blot with a soft cloth.

Softening the skin of your feet at home

Corns and calluses not only worsen the appearance of the feet - they greatly interfere with walking and can cause injuries and other problems associated with fatigue and poor coordination of movements. Therefore, not only women, but also the stronger sex should take care of their feet, at least in the simplest way.

Foot baths are a universal remedy, and medicinal herbs are not expensive; often they grow underfoot, in the country or outside the city. Nettle, burdock, St. John's wort, calendula, string, chamomile - these are the most common and effective plants that soften the skin, relieve fatigue and inflammation.

Foot baths

A bath of oatmeal also softens and nourishes the skin of the feet. Brew 2 tbsp with a glass of boiling water. flakes, allow to swell, add the mass to hot water for a bath; It’s also good to add an infusion of pine needles - the effect will be enhanced.

A milk bath is simple and inexpensive, but the improvement is noticeable after the first procedure. Mix hot milk with warm water 1:1, take a bath for 20-30 minutes; then wipe the feet with lemon juice. The skin will become smoother, softer and brighter.

By adding essential oils to any foot baths, you can not only soften the skin of your feet, but also eliminate or prevent fungal diseases. Lavender, tea tree or bergamot oil helps well.

Homemade masks and cream to soften the skin of the feet

Masks can be made after baths or separately, but it is better - on steamed skin.

Mix potato starch (2 tsp) with raw egg yolks (2 pcs.) and lemon juice (1 tbsp), spread on the skin of the feet and hold until dry. Rinse with warm water and apply a softening nourishing cream.

There are other effective masks for softening the skin of the feet based on conventional products. Apricot puree mask: beat 2 ripe apricots in a blender with 1-2 tsp. olive oil, warm slightly and apply to damp skin of feet. Cover with foil, put on soft socks and lie down for 20-30 minutes; Wash off the mask with warm water and lubricate your feet with cream.

You can also prepare a softening foot cream at home by mixing pharmacy vitamins A and E with any store-bought cream, even inexpensive ones - for example, “Children’s”, “Clean Line”, “Black Pearl”, etc.
