I wanted to try something new, experiment. I have always sung, but it was in the genre of pop music that this was my first experience. I was pleasantly surprised that the audience supported me in my endeavor. Thanks to this, I continue to be creative: I recently released a second song, in a different style. The name of the new single is “Martini”.
After filming the series “Happy Together” ended, did the role of a housewife bother you?
Dasha Bukina is in the past, they perceive me differently now. Over the past period of time, after finishing filming the series, I managed to do a lot. It was a pleasure for me to play the role of Dasha. She is a cheerful, charming woman who looks at daily chores positively. With such a relaxed attitude towards everyday affairs, many marriages could be saved.
The filming of the television series lasted several years; did you manage to make friends with your colleagues on the set? Would you agree if you were offered a role in a multi-part project again?
Yes! For us, it was not just about making money. We became friends and became close to each other, celebrated all the holidays and birthdays together. This may sound strange: we were like a real big family. We talked 6 days a week on set! Back then it was not possible to spend so much time even with my family.
I love long-term projects. There are people who, like sprinters, love short distances. But I prefer to collaborate for a long period of time and get joy from it. I'm a long distance runner.

Do you watch works with your participation?
I honestly admit that I didn’t watch “Happy Together”.
Various interesting cases have happened to me: when I visited salons or cafes, the staff immediately switched to the TNT channel, and there was a broadcast of this television series. So they wanted to please me.
I don’t particularly like to watch the works in which I took part. When I'm on set, it's one thing, but when I look at it from the outside, it's completely different. Maybe it all depends on my mood, but I perceive everything differently than on the set. I can watch the footage once in order to critically evaluate my work, lighting, etc. I evaluate my creativity more from the technical side.
It so happened that you were pregnant twice during the project. How did you decide to continue filming?
The contracts stated that I did not have the right to become pregnant. But I signed agreements twice and was pregnant twice! Thanks to Timur Weinstein, head of the TNT channel, for his understanding and humane attitude. In such cases, I could be replaced by another actress. This happens quite often in cinema. But the producer came up with interesting tricks that helped disguise the pregnancy and distract the viewer: for example, Dasha ate too much candy. Don’t tell people that she tirelessly gives birth to babies! Many people still think that I like to overeat on sweets (laughs).
After you gave birth to your daughter, you gained up to 120 kg, but very quickly returned to excellent shape. Share your secret of how you managed to lose 60 kg in a year?
Work helped me. Then I took part in the program “Dancing with the Stars” and a sports project, where I followed comprehensive measures in order to lose weight. After the project was completed, I fell in love with eating healthy. Small, frequent and separate meals have become the norm for me.
Is it true that scammers published books on weight loss under your name? How have you dealt with people who want to profit from your name and transformation?
My lawyers often catch scammers who want to take advantage of the changes that have happened to me. Books and CDs “you will listen and lose weight” were published under my name. Sell! One of the latest, out-of-the-ordinary cases: a plastic surgery clinic was exposed, which, having copied a photo of the neckline from my Instagram account, deceived me that I was their regular client. We made contact with them, they naturally deleted everything and disappeared. I am sincerely sorry that it will not be possible to catch all such charlatans. And the laws in our country are too loyal. Because of such misunderstandings, rumors arise. I don’t like to take part in intrigues and this kind of “advertising”.
You worked at the Moscow Art Theater and at Tabakerka. What was the reason for leaving the theater? Do you have a desire to return?
I was very worried about leaving the theater, really. The feelings were like those of a growing child who had just left his parents' home. Now I realize that it was necessary to take this step.
Repertory theater has a lot to do: regular rehearsals and theatrical performances. A vicious circle of work-home-work. This hindered my development and movement forward.
After leaving the theater, I had more time and I could do whatever I wanted. The first thing I did was study to become a film director. This dream would not have come true if I had continued to serve at the Moscow Art Academic Theater. I fell in love with the art of cinematography immediately after I discovered it.
Cinema that is created for entertainment has nothing in common with real cinema. During my studies, I looked at more than 5,000 different paintings. I realized that cinema is a real art! It teaches empathy, which promotes renewal. It can give hope that will change a person and make him better. It teaches us harmony and aesthetics, and also performs an educational function.
Unfortunately, in recent years, films have increasingly given preference to visual effects. But I encourage you to watch classics that will please the eye and give emotions of empathy and faith in goodness.
Among the performances with your participation there are long-lived ones - this is a performance called “Khanuma”, which can be seen at the Millennium Theater. How do you think it differs from the version shown on TV?
As times change, so do pimps. I watched the production of the Bolshoi Drama Theater, which was released in 1972. It was practically a folk story that became a memorable theatrical episode. All thanks to the talent of director Georgy Tovstonogov and the abilities of the authors who wrote the music for this amazing work. This performance attracted the attention of the public with its brightness and positivity, and everyone quickly fell in love with it.

It is not surprising that the producers of the Millennium Theater decided to revive the work and repeat its success. The actors who were part of the new play “Khanuma” are Dmitry Kharatyan, Mikhail Derzhavin, Lyudmila Chursina, Roxana Babayan. The production was on a grand scale. We went on tour not only around Russia, but also to countries in Europe and America.
A gifted actress, part-time director and playwright, Antonina Venediktova takes part in the performance and plays the role of Tekle. Thanks largely to Antonina, we were able to breathe life into the story about Hanuma and Kabato, who are rival matchmakers. My pimp is convinced that being a matchmaker is a calling. She is driven by love. For her, work is creativity and the most important thing is that people find each other and find happiness. She voluntarily gives up the structure of her personal life, but in the end, when the choice is between career and feelings, she chooses love.
Is it important for you that the environment on stage or set is comfortable?
A cozy atmosphere is created by people. If you are part of a team, you also create a comfortable environment. We are a team! Every time before the start of the performance “Khanuma” we perform a kind of ritual - we hold hands and look into each other’s eyes. At the end of the performance, we have another ritual - we exhale, shout joyfully and hug. The performance is our world of creativity, a small planet that we created and diligently protect.

What proposals will you never agree to? What projects would you not take part in?
I would refuse projects that do not have a specific meaning or idea. This is not to say that I would refuse to take part in nude filming, because it scares me. Nowadays, thanks to editing and cameramen, you can look amazing, sublime and moral, no worse than in the works of the Renaissance. But I don’t want to take part in this kind of filming, because it is repulsive, very indecent and mediocre.
How do you create a psychological mood if you have a difficult role ahead of you?
It depends on what kind of role I have ahead of me. There was a time when I had to cancel a rehearsal and reschedule it for another time.
At the Moscow Art Theater School, where I studied, we played a production of The Brothers Karamazov, in which I played the role of Ekaterina Ivanovna. It is not easy to play roles based on the works of Dostoevsky, due to the fact that emotions quickly change and feelings are acutely conveyed: laughter, tears and tragedy. All these experiences are internal. The roles are so intense that the abundance of feelings of each character is difficult to hide and show at the same time. All these feelings must first be created in yourself, nurtured, and then brought to life on stage. The rehearsal took place very early and I realized that my body and nervous system were still dormant. And everything that I so persistently cultivated in myself, the image that I cultivated with such difficulty does not come. Such situations that happen among actors are called “cold nose.” In the morning I couldn’t create the right psychological and physical mood, so I asked to move the rehearsal to the evening. I believe that for this reason serious and interesting performances start at 7 pm, but not at 9 am. It takes a certain amount of time to get into a psychological mood; it doesn’t come right away. For example, in the morning we do exercises to wake up from sleep and stretch our muscles and joints. It’s the same in the theater when creating an image.
Do your children love creativity? Which of the children chose a creative path, like their mother?
From an early age, my children had the opportunity to try themselves in creativity: they starred in my films, while I was mastering the profession of director, they tried to perform on stage. Realistically assessing the intensity of the profession, they understand how difficult acting is. They decided to choose other areas of self-realization. Maria is interested in design and architecture. Ivan is good at programming. He dreams of one day creating his own game, despite the fact that he doesn’t have time to play computer games. He is busy with creativity: he draws, sings and plays the piano. For the Day of Knowledge, we all together created an anthem for my school-studio. Masha likes to study foreign languages. She has been studying English, Spanish and French for more than 4 years.
What kind of relationship do you currently have with the singer Philip Kirkorov, who proposed to record the song “Dzhalma” together as a duet?
We are good friends and keep in touch. Philip's children went to school. A father like him is a worthy example for many parents. He is attentive and caring towards his children, a very understanding and loving person.
I used to rather try to finish work so I could be home and spend more time with my children. Now is such a period in Philip’s life and he takes the first opportunity to be close to his children and pay more attention to them. And with two children there is twice as much trouble (laughs).

Bochkareva is divorced. Her ex-husband, Nikolai Borisov, is a lawyer. They met during the filming of “Happy Together,” when Natalya was visiting relatives in Nizhny Novgorod.
