  3. Be creative. Turn regular meatballs into “hedgehog” ones, for example. This will make lunch more fun and productive for your child.
  4. As for salt, it is best to add it to the food of children over one year old.

Turkey meatballs for a child, and for an adult too, do not take long to prepare: from 15 to 25 minutes. It all depends on the cooking method: in the oven, in a saucepan, in a slow cooker. Prepare the ingredients immediately before cooking.

Tender turkey meatballs in sour cream

Oven temperature: 180°

Baking time: 1 hour

Total cooking time: 1 hour 20 minutes.

I am an ecologist by profession and now a housewife.

For lunch, I make turkey meatballs and gravy, a delicious ball-shaped dish of ground meat. Usually meatballs are stewed in sauce, but I will bake them in sour cream.

As a child, my grandmother often cooked meatballs for lunch with all kinds of toppings - milk, sour cream, vegetable, tomato. I especially liked these meat balls with rice, baked in sour cream, and the side dish was always tender mashed potatoes. Since then, my tastes have remained virtually unchanged, and I continue to cook according to my grandmother’s cookbook.

Often I have to cook for my little son, and in order not to bother with cooking all day, I make a dish that everyone will like. It is not advisable for small children to eat pork dishes and the frying process is also contraindicated, so I decided to bake turkey fillet meatballs in sour cream. An easy dish that will satisfy the whole family.

  • half a glass of milk or vegetable broth, water;

    1. Prepare minced meat from turkey meat and onions by passing the ingredients through a meat grinder or blending in a blender.
    2. Add salt to the minced meat and beat in a raw egg. Stir until smooth.
    3. The rice must first be boiled, and only then added to the meat.
    4. In order to “dilute” the minced meat - reduce its thickness - add milk, broth or water.
    5. After that, form it into balls and send them to prepare in any convenient way.

Recipe 7, in a slow cooker: turkey breast meatballs in tomato sauce

    • turkey – 500 g
    • rice (dry) – 150 g
    • carrots (large size) – 1 pc.
    • onion (large size) – 1 pc.
    • garlic – 2-3 cloves
    • fresh herbs (dill, parsley, basil) – 1 bunch
    • chicken egg – 1 pc.
    • flour – 1 tbsp.
    • salt, pepper, mixture of spices for meat - to taste
    • tomato paste – 2-3 tbsp.
    • sour cream (fat content from 20%) – 200 g
    • water – 500 ml

Rinse dry rice thoroughly under running water. Place the rice in a saucepan and fill it with water (3 cups will be enough).

Place the saucepan on the fire and boil the rice until half cooked. Depending on the type of rice, this may take from 7 to 15 minutes. Place the boiled rice in a sieve and rinse with cold water, allowing excess water to drain completely.

Coarsely chop the turkey fillet and grind it using a food processor or mince it through a meat grinder.

Peel the onions and carrots. Finely chop the onion and grate the carrots. If desired, you can also chop vegetables using a food processor or meat grinder.

Pass the garlic cloves through a press or chop with a knife, and also chop a bunch of herbs.

In a large bowl, combine turkey fillet, boiled rice, onion, garlic, carrots and herbs. Also add chicken egg and spices.

Mix the ground turkey thoroughly with your hands.

Wet your hands in cold water and form the minced meat into equal balls, slightly larger than a walnut or any other size to your taste.

Place the formed turkey meatballs in the bottom of the multicooker bowl. By the way, you get a lot of meatballs, so, if you wish, you can freeze some of the meatballs for future use or put them in a slow cooker in several layers.

Prepare the filling for the meatballs: combine tomato paste, sour cream and flour in a deep container.

Mix thoroughly so that there are no lumps. If desired, at this stage you can add a little salt, pepper, sugar (to balance the acidity of the paste), as well as dry herbs.

Pour in water and stir again.

Pour the resulting mixture over the meatballs.

Place the bowl in the multicooker, close the lid and cook the turkey meatballs in the multicooker on the “Stew” mode, time – 30 minutes.

Serve the meatballs with a side dish or as a separate dish.

How to cook “Meatballs without rice in a slow cooker”

    1. I had ground turkey and decided to experiment a little with it. If you have a multicooker, preparing all dishes is easier and faster. You can use any other minced meat (if you use beef, it is still better to cook the meatballs with rice so that they do not lose their shape). In this case, the meatballs are prepared without adding rice, but with semolina.

    2. Mix the minced meat with semolina and bring to a homogeneous consistency.

    3. Add the egg, salt and spices, as well as finely chopped onion (you can grate it) and a teaspoon of flour. Mix everything again until smooth.

    4. Place the minced meat on a flat surface and leave for 20 minutes for the semolina to swell. This recipe makes 14-16 meatballs.

    5. To prepare the sauce, we will need spices (mix them in a mortar so that they are evenly distributed in the sauce), tomato paste and a pinch of flour. Mix a pinch of flour with a small amount of warm water (3-4 tablespoons) so that there are no lumps, then add the mixture to the tomato paste with spices. Mix the sauce well.

    7. If you want, you don’t have to fry the meatballs, but then they won’t be as tasty. Pour some vegetable oil into the multicooker bowl and place the meatballs. Select the “Baking” or “Frying” mode and lightly fry the meatballs on all sides with the lid closed. Then pour in the sauce (you can add onions and carrots, if you wish) and select the “Stew” mode for 50 minutes. Close the lid, press start and go about your business.
