Let's not skimp on beauty! Or maybe we can also make money?

10 ways to save money on beauty
Being a well-groomed and beautiful girl is often not a cheap pleasure, especially when your budget is significantly limited.

Luckily, there are easy adjustments you can make to your routine that will allow you to save precious money without sacrificing style.

Here are 10 easy ways to save money on beauty.

Color overgrown roots yourself

Coloring regrown roots yourself will cost you much less than a similar procedure in a salon. High-quality professional paint can now be purchased in many stores at a reasonable price, whereas at a hairdresser you will have to pay twice as much. Another option is to alternate coloring yourself with visits to a professional; if you do something wrong, the hairdresser will correct you. For those of you who can't dye your hair yourself, there is an alternative - ask a friend to help you avoid missing any strands.

Women with any budget need to visit beauty salons. But how can you save on these visits without compromising your appearance?

Let's share secrets.

  • Don't rush to buy all the advertised beauty products. Almost certainly, a brush for curling eyelashes or a unit for massaging, peeling, and scrubbing your face will lie idle most of the time. Why? Because their effect is minimal, and more often than not the same results can be achieved completely free of charge or for much less money. No newfangled electric massager will get rid of fat deposits that have accumulated over the years in a week. A reasonable diet, a well-thought-out set of exercises, a simple mechanical massager and home spa products will give a much greater effect than expensive devices.
  • All hair needs care and styling . Even long hair cannot grow for months without professional end treatment. And a colleague won’t do this to you after work with office scissors. You still have to stop by the hairdresser. You shouldn’t skimp on a haircut, especially since you don’t need it that often.
  • But you can dye your hair yourself , having first found out how to do it correctly and decided on the tone. Of course, you should buy the best paint. A combined option would also be nice: when the master in the salon selects a color for you and dyes your hair for the first time, and then you will tint your roots several times with the same paint. The result can be quite satisfactory.
  • If you dye your hair with a color as close as possible to its natural color, then the growing roots will not be very noticeable, and funds for dyeing can be allocated less often. And be sure to use shampoos and conditioners for colored hair - they are less aggressive to color.
  • Manicures and pedicures can be easily done at home. Of course, first you need to acquire all the necessary tools and baths, develop skills and have some free time. Mastering various modern trends is worth it. Even an everyday manicure will look professional, and on occasion you will be able to afford a visit to the salon.
  • How to save money on a salon manicure procedure? Take the time to remove the varnish at home so you don’t have to pay a professional for this process. You can refuse to apply colored polish and do it yourself, because the base coat of the nails is included in the cost of the procedure. To extend the life of your manicure and pedicure, cover the polish daily with a fixative and lubricate the cuticles with oil or cream - this will make them grow back more slowly.
  • As for decorative cosmetics, it is better to choose face tone and mascara from well-known companies. At the same time, you should not strive to purchase all the most expensive things - in this market segment there are many worthy manufacturers who offer quality goods at an affordable price. However, it is better to avoid the cheapest decorative items: lipstick or mascara purchased at the transition not only smudges and crumbles, but is also quite capable of causing allergic reactions.
  • Home care will allow you to save a significant amount every month without compromising the quality of the procedures. Many craftsmen work from home. If you don’t mind the lack of luxury salon ambience, then haircuts, manicures, pedicures, massages and even hair removal can be done by specialists at home.
  • Purchasing coupons will help you save from 30 to 70% on a set of procedures in your favorite salon. Register on several sites that offer discounts and take a closer look at their services. Just keep in mind that discount salons usually use inexpensive consumables, so it’s better not to choose procedures with a lot of masks and peelings.
  • Many salons offer clients courses of procedures . When purchasing 4-10 sessions, the cost of each procedure will be reduced and you will get the same effect, but 25-30% cheaper.
  • High-quality masks and raw materials for complete care cannot be cheap, but today it is possible to purchase professional cosmetics in specialized stores or on the Internet. Having selected the right products in the salon, you can purchase products at retail and do all the procedures at home. It will be just as effective as in an expensive salon, but much more economical.
  • Many salons offer discounts in the morning and afternoon, when there is less crowd of visitors. Carefully re-read the price list and ask administrators about promotions and price reductions. They tend to “forget” about current discounts if you don’t ask about them. Why, for example, give you a discount when you brought a friend to the procedure, if you are both ready to pay everything according to the price? Therefore, do not hesitate to constantly be interested in promotions and bonuses entitled to you. Club cards and coupons allow you to save significantly on visits to the beauty salon.

By clearly separating mandatory procedures from optional ones, you can learn not to spend money on unnecessary things, saving on salons, but not on beauty.

How I stopped spending money on unnecessary things

For me, as for most women, shopping is a form of leisure, and not at all a necessity. At some point, I realized that I was spending too much money on unnecessary things, which could go towards more pleasant purposes, for example, traveling. And for six months now I have been successfully fighting the passion for raiding stores, which has a positive effect on the balance of my plastic card.

Clothes bins

I have a relationship with clothes that many women will understand: I really love buying it, but not at all in order to constantly change clothes and dress up, but to have it! To be honest, my basic everyday wardrobe is almost a uniform: jeans, T-shirts and sweaters in the cold season. On his feet are sneakers and sneakers. In this situation, it is completely incomprehensible that I have 23 dresses in my closet, half of which have never been worn, the other half were luckier - they were walked out at special events once.

Another category of useless spending is clothes bought at wild European sales. When something that cost 200 euros suddenly sells for 20, the brain often turns off and does not send signals that you already have the exact same thing, calm down, drink coffee and read a book.

In addition, shopping therapy is a terrible disease when you go into a store not because you need something there, but to have fun shopping.

As part of the fight against useless waste of money, I decided not to buy any new clothes for a year, not counting those that would tear/spoil and any socks and underwear. At the same time, I don’t forbid myself from going to clothing stores and trying on something - it turned out that this is also good entertainment.

After six months of the experiment, I can say that giving up unnecessary spending on clothes saved a lot of money on my card, and I don’t feel any discomfort or deprivation from the lack of new things.

Beloved beauty

I am a perfume maniac, I have about 10 or 15 different bottles, despite the fact that there are only two favorite scents, and they have not changed for decades - but I always want to try something new!

In addition, about two years ago I was enslaved by an addiction to watching videos of various beauty bloggers - who doesn’t want to be more beautiful and learn about all the new products in skin care and decorative cosmetics? The addiction turned out to be detrimental to the wallet: after watching these stupid videos, it becomes obvious that I need to buy 80% of what is shown there, otherwise I will shrink and die. Despite the fact that I know my capricious skin very well, for which a maximum of two creams have suited my entire life, despite the fact that I had a ton of decorative cosmetics and sponge brushes, I continued to maniacally buy all the new products - what if it was this particular product? will turn me into a beloved princess as quickly as possible?

As a result, most of the purchases went into the trash or as gifts for mom and girlfriends - for some reason everything suited them! And my wallet was empty, so I made a strong-willed decision to stop watching ruinous beauty bloggers, read articles about cosmetic new products and start using only proven products and buying new things for my cosmetic bag only when the previous jar-tube-box has irreparably run out.

I can say that for six months money was spent only on consumables such as cotton pads/sticks and makeup remover wipes. Everything else seems to be enough for at least another six months. And since I love expensive brands of cosmetics, the savings are gigantic.

Making a nest

I used to really love all sorts of beautiful things and trinkets for the home - lamps, bedspreads, decorative bird cages, wreaths for the door and magnets for the refrigerator. Frankly speaking, she loved it too much, and at some point her passion for decorating began to take away her living space.

It’s difficult to answer the question why I need six sets of bed linen, three blankets, two floor lamps, a tin tram and four rubber ducks in the bathroom...

As another volitional decision, I carried out a general cleaning in order to free up as many surfaces as possible, and gave all the unnecessary beauty to those who needed it.

After that, I completely abandoned useless souvenirs from travel and buying new things for the house on the principle of “well, it’s so pretty!”

I’ll tell you a secret - most of your apartments have already had everything you and your household need for a long time, and it’s worth updating things only during major renovations, moves and breakdowns. And the best souvenirs are your memories and photographs. Everything else is a waste of money.

Cult of food

It was probably easier for me to start saving on food than for other people, because in normal times I don’t cook, I prefer to eat in a cafe outside the home. Therefore, the savings began with the fact that I allowed myself one dinner a week out and two lunches - in the event that I find myself not at home at lunchtime and without taking a snack with me.

The rest of the time I had to master daily cooking. Well, how can I learn how to cook since childhood, I just don’t like to spend time on it.

In the first month it became clear that not much time was being spent, but the savings were enormous! It feels like a bag of rice and a jar of blueberry jam, enough for two weeks of breakfast, cost the same as one bowl of blueberry rice porridge in a cafe.

Summer verandas

I love poultry (chicken, turkey), which is healthier than other meats, easier to process and prepare, and cheaper than beef and pork.

An electric grill and oven save you from wasting time, where, in fact, you just throw meat and vegetables with seasonings or pre-marinated ones, and take them out when ready.

It takes five minutes to prepare a salad, and the cost of a week’s dinners at home is approximately the same as two dinners in a cafe or restaurant.

Another big savings is to take a close look at your supermarket cart purchases AFTER you've selected everything and loaded it into your cart, but BEFORE you line up at the checkout.

Maybe you, of course, have a rational approach to shopping, but I am a terrible “grabber” who needs to try everything, and at home, sorting out my purchases, I think - well, why do I need all this.

Now I don’t deny myself “grabbing,” but after analyzing the contents of the basket before paying, I return almost half of it back to the store shelves.

Another great way to save on food is to start eating healthy or following a diet. A lot of money is thoughtlessly spent on snacks and treats, and if you think about what you eat every day, these unnecessary expenses will decrease.

What I don't save on

I will never skimp on new experiences and positive emotions!

The first and main expense item on which all the money saved is spent is travel. They bring much more joy than owning any other things.

And if in my youth I didn’t care which hotel to stay in - after all, you only sleep in the room, now I want the hotel to become part of my impressions of the city, and not a source of terrible memories of the stomping of cockroaches.

By the way, refusing to constantly buy things helps you save money when traveling too - it has become easy to fly with one hand luggage, plus the time freed from shopping can be spent on something more interesting.

I don’t skimp on technology, because a laptop, smartphone, tablet are my work tools, and it is very important that they weigh little, work autonomously for a long time and think quickly. When on one of my trips bad people snatched my smartphone right out of my hands on the evening street, without thinking, I bought a new one the next day, although this was not at all in my budget.

I will never give up dinner with friends or going to a concert to save money - these events and impressions from them will stay with me for a very long time, but I’m unlikely to remember buying new shoes or expensive cheese in five years.

Gifts and surprises to family and friends are emotions given by the person you pleased with a gift, this is priceless joy, forgive the pathos.

In general, the common saying that the best things in life are not things is 100% true in my case, especially lately. I won’t say that I got very rich or saved a lot of money, I just began to spend what I earned more thoughtfully and on things that really make life more interesting, and not gather dust in the closet or are swallowed in half an hour out of boredom!

Saving on yourself as one of the mistakes of female psychology

One of the most common mistakes in female psychology (especially in Russia) is saving on yourself.

How is it shown? When making purchases, you buy necessary (and not so necessary) things, products, medicines for your loved ones: parents, husband, children, even for pets, without at all regretting the money spent.

But for some reason you consider it almost a crime to spend an extra penny on yourself, sometimes giving up even the most necessary things.

Do you save on yourself?

If you think you have something to wear, even if it’s old, long out of fashion, altered or mended several times, and the bathroom has the cheapest shampoo, but your children are dressed almost the best - this is another confirmation of savings on to yourself.

  • Other evidence of saving on yourself
  • When you hesitate for a long time to buy yourself underwear - it’s not visible under your clothes, so why waste money.
  • When decorative cosmetics or hand cream run out, many are in no hurry to buy them again, because there are expenses that are more important for the family.
  • When, having come to the store, instead of a good quality product, something you liked, you buy something that is sold at a discount or something cheap.
  • The vicious female psychology aimed at saving does not allow you to fully delight yourself with some pleasant little things, even if the growing material wealth of the family allows it.
  • Your first priority in terms of importance of acquisitions can be anyone and anything, but not yourself.

Gradually, the habit of constantly saving on oneself takes the form of a painful pathology, which is very difficult to get rid of. Any spending on oneself seems unreasonable and infringes on the interests of other family members.

Saving negatively affects future fate

But such savings have a very bad effect on the physical, psychological, and emotional state of a woman, and can also negatively affect her future fate. After all, those who save on themselves:

  • lose their unique feminine charm;
  • they are deprived of the lightness and magic of life;
  • problems and disappointments are imprinted on their faces;
  • they become uninteresting to men, even those who once loved them, and if the husband remains around, it is only to use such a woman as a free housewife;
  • these are eternally tired and dissatisfied creatures with life;
  • For such women, happiness, like a mirage in the desert, is impossible and unattainable.

Let's try to understand the intricacies of female psychology and find out why for many women saving on themselves is a way of life.

Most often, this is a veiled fear and a feeling of guilt: “Now I will spend money on myself, but tomorrow it will not be enough for something very important, and I will be to blame for the misfortune that befell the family.”

If a woman does not spend money on her personal needs, then she has an excuse that if something happens, she will not be blamed for the troubles that befall her loved ones.

In this way, you sacrifice your beauty, health, personal interests for the sake of the mythical salvation of others from troubles and misfortunes.

But don’t you think that pride is partly manifested in this self-sacrifice: the well-being of loved ones depends on whether a certain amount is spent on yourself or not? But, if you think carefully, it turns out that when a woman “turns on” the mode of saving on herself, she, in fact, “turns off” her femininity.

It's not about money at all, but about attitude towards your own life

A wise woman, if she has money, easily uses it, both for the needs of the family and for her own needs.

Well, if some financial tension suddenly arises, she will find a way to compensate for the lack of money with her skills and time.

For example, he will find recipes for face masks or body scrubs using available products, will please his loved ones with delicious food from available products, will sew or knit something stunningly beautiful for himself, etc.

Understand, it’s not about money at all, but about your attitude to your own life. By maintaining your femininity, you will give your family much more than saving on yourself. Make it a rule to never save:

  • on a nutritious diet with good quality products - health and well-being largely depend on this;
  • on cosmetics for the face and body - so that you enjoy looking in the mirror and touching your skin;
  • on hair care – clean, healthy, well-styled hair gives a woman a special charm;
  • on underwear - beautiful and comfortable underwear gives confidence and speaks about your attitude towards femininity and your own body;
  • on clothes in general and home clothes in particular - a woman should always look neat, fresh, and please (but not shock) the eyes of others;
  • on your state of mind - make sure you receive a sufficient amount of positive emotions, develop your spiritual sphere, learn to get rid of stress through physical exercise, dancing or meditation.

Enjoy life and then you will make both yourself and your loved ones happy!

I'm not rich enough to buy cheap things

Surely many have heard the phrase of Baron Rothschild: “I am not rich enough to buy cheap things.” Indeed, saving on yourself and everything that is included in our sphere of personal interests is unprofitable, and not always pleasant.

We immediately find ourselves one step away from another wise thought: “The miser pays twice.” So stop saving on yourself! Start pampering yourself, buying things that will make your life more interesting, beautiful, tastier and happier.

So, why shouldn't you save on yourself?

Once in a conversation, an acquaintance of mine said the following phrase: “When I smoke expensive cigarettes, my business goes well, the profit flows into my hands. When the class of cigarettes goes down, my business also goes slowly and sluggishly.”

I thought about it. I won’t talk about the dangers of smoking, everyone knows that. Especially those who smoke. It's just a matter of psychology. If this same acquaintance did not smoke, but ate chocolate, then his phrase would be the same, only the word “cigarettes” would be replaced by the word “chocolate.”

I don’t know about you, but for a while I was constantly saving on myself. And this made me feel like someone between a homeless person and a beggar. Then, of course, I did not understand what caused me to see such a vision of myself. And then my mother once told me: “Never skimp on yourself, otherwise you’ll spend your whole life in rags.”

And I dramatically changed my attitude towards saving. I went to the store and bought myself a perfume that cost forty times more than what I could previously spend on myself in a month. Wow! I'll tell you how sharply I flew up in my own eyes. I felt expensive. Although I didn’t walk the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, I felt that way.

Afterwards I thought about it. I already had something to compare with, and I realized: you can save on yourself, but wisely. If my salary is approximately 30,000 rubles, I, of course, cannot spend 20,000 on myself. And if you subtract bills, payment for food, etc.

, what will be left then? Only money for travel. And yet, every month you need to not buy something somewhere, but to please yourself. Everyone is their own economist, and everyone knows how much money they have and how much they can spend.

But in calculations for waste there must be a column “for personal needs”.
