White dress, zebra print top or bright jumpsuit: we tell you what to wear to a city picnic in the summer of 2020.
Summer is the perfect time for picnics: you can head out of town or gather with friends at a nearby park with food, games and cool drinks. As for outfits, there is no specific dress code; it is enough to adapt everyday fashionable looks for this occasion.

White dress
In the summer of 2020, designers made sure that many people had a white dress in their wardrobe that you could fall in love with at first sight. Ruffles, frills and puffed sleeves - all these details refer to a carefree childhood, and the square neckline and milky shade of the dress remind you that in adulthood there is also a place for cute things.
Fashionable accessories this season will gladly accompany such a dress: first of all, pay attention to straw accessories. A cottagecore-style hat with a huge bow to match the dress and a straw bag with long fringes and ribbons instead of handles are the ideal companions for this romantic look. And sunglasses, a pearl necklace and woven sandals will set the right accents on their own - choose accessories that will fit into the ideal picnic look you have created.
1 – Mango dress, 2 – Eugenia Kim hat, 3 – Hunkemöller bag, 4 – Saint Laurent sunglasses, 5 – Brinker & Eliza necklace, 6 – Gianvito Rossi woven sandals
Working in beds with a hoe and other tools
- not suitable: flip-flops, too open shoes (with bare toes), too light shoes;
- suitable: shoes with durable soles, fit tightly on the feet (not loose), with closed toes and heels.
When digging a garden, you should give preference to shoes with durable thick soles, which will reduce the load on the foot and minimize the risk of injury. You should also take care to protect your head from the sun's rays (wear a headscarf/hat).
Making a fire
- not suitable: synthetic gloves, hats and clothing made of flammable materials;
- Suitable: a hat that covers the hair, woolen clothing (if the weather is appropriate) or other clothing made of fire-resistant material, as well as special protective gloves.
This is interesting….
Conventionally, all types of fabric from which clothing is made (in particular, workwear) can be divided into:
- ordinary fabric (does not protect a person from flames and high temperatures),
- fabric with a special fire-resistant impregnation (a chemical composition is applied to the material or yarn, which is activated at elevated temperatures and inhibits the combustion process for some time),
— special heat-resistant fabric (made from special heat- and fire-resistant fibers).
Manufacturers of fire-resistant workwear conduct special tests - testing their models. A mannequin equipped with sensors is fitted with a set of clothing and then exposed to fire. Thanks to this test, it is possible to identify the percentage of burns, their location on the body, the intensity of the spread of burns, and the percentage of survival taking into account age.
Working with electric and gas powered tools
- not suitable: clothes of the wrong size (anything that restricts movement or dangles should not be worn during such work), neck scarves, hats that do not fit well on the head. Also, for safety reasons, you should not work with gas-powered or power tools while wearing headphones, sunglasses or regular glasses;
— suitable: a comfortable set of clothes without hanging parts, which is selected in size and is able to ensure comfortable work; a tight-fitting headdress that covers long hair; special noise-isolating headphones; protective glasses.
Construction and repair work, as well as cutting down trees
- not suitable: a hat or other headgear that only protects the head from cold / sun rays; simple gloves (mittens); shoes that do not protect the feet from twisting;
— suitable: a special helmet or a bright-colored helmet that reliably protects the skull; gloves made of dense materials that protect the skin from damage and splinters; shoes with non-slip soles that provide good ankle support.
Working with chemicals (spraying trees, bushes, etc.)
- not suitable: light sleeveless clothing, fabric gloves;
— suitable: clothing covering the entire body (including arms and legs), rubber gloves, respirator.
In particular, when working with dusty substances, you should wear thick protective clothing with a smooth surface, rubber boots (or special protective shoe covers), and cotton mittens with a film coating and acid-proof impregnation. When working with liquid products, you must wear cotton workwear with acid-proof impregnation (plus rubber gloves).
To protect the eyes, in both the first and second cases, safety glasses are used. Respirators and special gas masks are used to protect the respiratory tract. The simplest version of a respirator is a “petal” (a layer of special fabric is laid between layers of gauze). When working with highly toxic substances, a special type of respirator with gas cartridges is used.
Important: when working with chemicals, other rules must also be followed. Do not eat or smoke while preparing the solution. Do not store the prepared solution (you can be poisoned by the fumes alone). Plants should not be treated with chemicals in hot weather, since it is in such weather that poisons evaporate most intensively. You cannot treat plants with a bucket and broom - you should use a sprayer. You cannot spray tall trees from the ground - do the procedure by climbing on a stepladder (or use sprayers with an extendable tube). Do not spray plants during strong winds.
Now let’s look at some personal protective equipment and country accessories, the main purpose of which is to protect human health and life, as well as provide more comfortable working conditions on the site:
• oversleeves
If you don’t have the opportunity or desire to completely change clothes, you can always use sleeves. For example, sleeves can be useful when working with flowers (if you need to reach out and pull out a few weeds). In addition to simple fabric sleeves, summer residents can find sleeves made of dense elastic fabric on sale (such sleeves provide protection not only from dirt, but also from sharp twigs, nettles, and insects).
• Gloves
The simplest (fabric) gloves are suitable for simple work. For example, they can be worn when transplanting seedlings, during harvesting, etc.
Gloves made of fabric with rubber fingers are ideal for handling tools. Where it is necessary to ensure reliable grip of the surface and hands. In particular, such gloves will come in handy when digging beds.
Cellophane gloves are the cheapest option. Used when working with liquid products.
Rubber gloves - designed to protect the skin of the hands from toxic chemicals, paints, etc. Rubber gloves can be less dense, they are also called “disposable” and more dense, which can be used several times.
Leather gloves - protect hands during “fights” with thorny plants. They are also worn when working with a chainsaw, brush cutter, etc.
This is interesting: some models of gardening gloves are equipped with tightening cuffs that prevent dirt from penetrating inside.
• Rubber boots
The main purpose of rubber shoes is protection from dirt. Thanks to boots made of rubber, a summer resident (if necessary) can work even in the rain. Typically, boots with a height of 30 cm are produced for gardeners.
Important: if you have to work in cold weather, you should definitely put felt insoles or special felt boot inserts into your boots. In warm weather, it will be enough to wear thick cotton socks (+ insert insoles). Based on this, another point emerges - rubber boots should not be chosen according to size, but a size or two larger.
• Eye protection
When working with a chainsaw or other tools (where there is a risk of foreign objects getting into the eyes), be sure to wear safety glasses. So, for example, for pruning trees, plastic glasses made of high-quality material are suitable (if closed, then with ventilation), and for working with serious tools it is better to use plastic shields that will protect the entire face from dust, shavings, dirt, etc. Safety glasses are also useful when cleaning old wood and metal surfaces. If you have to carry out welding work on site, you cannot use a regular plastic shield - you should purchase a special mask for welding.
• Knee pads
There are several options for knee pads. These can be knee pads with foam inserts, rubberized or plastic knee pads. What are they needed for? The most important purpose is to make work in the beds and flower beds as comfortable as possible (protecting knees from dirt and debris). In addition, knee pads protect your joints from the cold ground.
How and from what can you make knee pads for the garden with your own hands?
One of the simplest options is to make knee pads from a travel rug. To do this, cut out 3-4 blanks for each leg from the base, and then glue (sew) them together, securing them between the layers of fastening. These knee pads will provide you with comfortable work on the site, your joints will not get tired and you won’t feel any pebbles. If you need an option for knee pads for working on damp and cold ground, then you can sew them from waterproof fabric and insulation.
• Tool belt
An independent accessory with which it is convenient to perform any work on the site. The market offers different models (the sizes, number of compartments, and material differ). One of the most convenient options is a belt, which can be worn not only at the waist (hips), but also on the shoulder. Many summer residents use such belts during the sowing period (in the pockets there are packages of seeds, fertilizers, rags, scissors, mini-rippers, etc.).
• Special belt for the back
Designed to make the work of a summer resident easier. For radiculitis, osteochondrosis, and in the postoperative period, the use of such a belt helps reduce the load on the back muscles and spine. Conscientious manufacturers make elastic belts from high-quality materials, which ensures maximum comfort when moving and during gardening work. Such belts are pleasant to the body, they warm, and at the same time, do not interfere with air circulation.
• Headdress with mesh
An excellent means of protection for those people who want to isolate themselves from annoying midges, flies and other insects that live in the garden. Now you can buy very comfortable models that cover not only the face, but also the neck (the risk of insects getting inside is minimal).

Printed top and colorful shorts
This season, many designers again brought animal print clothes to the catwalks: however, instead of leopards and tigers, we saw black and white zebra. In the summer of 2020, this complex print was at the peak of popularity. Many subconsciously bypass the zebra print because they don’t know what and how to combine it correctly (by the way, we wrote more about this complex print here).
If you still haven’t dared to try on the main print of this summer, start small: a lingerie-style top with a zebra print goes well with bright, fashionable loose shorts this season. Choose a hat that matches the color of your shorts, flip-flops in a contrasting shade, and complete the look with stylish accessories. An excellent choice would be a massive chain bracelet and a transparent bag - let everyone know that you are going on a picnic.
1 – Calvin Klein print top, 2 – Kenzo shorts, 3 – Jacquemus hat, 4 – Studio Amelia flip-flops, 5 – Baby transparent bag, 6 – Philippe Audibert bracelet
What else to take besides food
Even if you go to nature with the specific purpose of barbecuing, during your vacation you will not only eat. Therefore, in addition to groceries, you need to take with you a whole list of things. Namely:
- water (there should be enough not only for drinking, but also for washing hands, fruits, vegetables, and lighting the fire when the picnic is over);
- games (twister, cards, checkers, chess, monopoly and other board games);
- balls, rackets, jump ropes and other equipment for active pastime;
- bedding for sitting on the grass, as well as warm blankets if you are going to be outdoors until the evening (it will definitely get colder after sunset);
- garbage bags (be sure to collect all food scraps and packaging in bags and take them with you from recreational areas);
- wet wipes and antiseptics (in nature you also need to take care of basic hygiene);
- disposable tableware (preferably cardboard, not plastic, which is harmful to our environment);
- containers (you can use them to take the remaining food with you);
- insect repellents (you can take citrus essential oils, which perfectly repel mosquitoes and other pests);
- sunscreen (even if you sit in the shade most of the time, there is a risk of getting sunburned);
- hats (no need for heatstroke);
- portable speaker (to relax with your favorite music);
- first aid kit with dressings and sorbents.
Pink jumpsuit
A bright jumpsuit is the perfect find for summer 2020: you can safely wear it both for a walk around the city and for a planned weekend picnic. In sunny weather, you can’t do without the main trend of this season - a bright Panama hat: it will not only protect you from the hot rays of the sun, but will also become an excellent accent in your summer look. Stylists recommend wearing overalls with loafers, espadrilles or ballet shoes in the summer of 2020, but you shouldn’t forget about chunky sneakers or sandals similar to them: they fit perfectly into this bright summer look.

Going to barbecue. What you need to know
The barbecue season begins in Moscow. AiF.ru talks about all the subtleties associated with this event.
1. Meat for barbecue should be marinated yourself in advance.
Article on the topic of Barbecue without carcinogens. 4 rules for safe barbecue
You should not buy ready-made kebab, as there is a risk of subsequently removing an absolutely tasteless dish from the skewers, which is guaranteed to ruin the entire picnic. The meat may be too stringy or too salty. Therefore, it is better to do everything yourself. Lamb, beef, and pork are suitable for barbecue, which are best marinated on the eve of the picnic. 2. If you did not have time to marinate the meat the day before, you can use a “quick marinade”.
If it so happens that you were unable to prepare meat for barbecue in advance, still buy it, but marinate it quickly. Read about how to do this here>>

3. You can grill shish kebab in Moscow only in specially designated places.
In order not to spoil your vacation, you can organize a picnic with barbecue in the city only in specially designated places and on stationary barbecues (bringing your own is prohibited). There are also the necessary equipment: benches, a table, trash cans, and sometimes toilets. For information about where exactly you can grill kebabs within the city, read the help>>
Those who like to light a fire will have to pay up to five thousand rubles for violating the fire safety regulations. By the way, for cutting down trees for a fire within the city there is also a fine of up to 4.5 thousand rubles. Therefore, it is better to purchase ready-made coals.

4. Lighter fluid must be used carefully.
Question answer
Which lighter fluids are safe? Environmentalists have not reached a consensus regarding the safety of lighter fluid for the environment. Essentially, such ignition consists of colorless and odorless liquid paraffins, however, some manufacturers add harmful volatile impurities to the liquid, which, when burned, can form hexamine, which can also negatively affect human health. Also, hundreds of cases are recorded annually where the improper use of special fluids led to severe burns.
If you don’t want to take risks, you can take the advice of experienced tourists: fallen spruce branches serve as excellent kindling (they remain dry even in wet weather). To make it easier to light a fire, you can purchase special tourist matches that burn for several minutes - this time will be enough to light the fire. You can also use lighters, but you need to use a pistol lighter to avoid burning your hands.

5. After the picnic, you need to clean up everything after yourself.
Don’t forget to pick up any trash left over after barbecuing and throw it away. You should also not leave bags of waste near roads and in illegal landfills; for this you can pay a fine of up to 4 thousand rubles.
How to dress beautifully and tastefully for a birthday
Your task is to dress feminine and elegant in a cafe for your birthday. And the most suitable and versatile option for celebrating a name day is, of course, a beautiful dress. Remember that it should favorably emphasize the advantages of your figure and hide flaws. Don't know which dress model to choose? Feel free to wear a sheath dress. This is perhaps the most win-win option for such cases. In it, its owner looks truly stylish, and at the same time not pretentious, which is completely unacceptable for going to democratic establishments. Properly selected jewelry and other little things will help complete the look. Remember, the brighter your dress, the more modest your accessories should be.
A trouser suit can be an equally good option. But not classics in their purest form, but, say, trousers with a top with a deep neckline or an open back. If you want to look mega-sexy, feel free to choose red in your clothes. And if you decide to create a light and airy look, then wear an elegant jumpsuit made of flowing fabrics with flared pants and heeled shoes for your birthday.
How to dress for a birthday party in a restaurant?
If the birthday celebration is planned in an expensive restaurant, then in this case you can safely choose floor-length evening dresses with an open back, bare shoulders or a high slit on the thigh. An excellent addition to the look will be shoes - pumps with high and thin heels, as well as jewelry. In cool weather, it would be appropriate to wear a fur cape or a flowing stole.
Trousers are also suitable for a restaurant. The most preferable are two models: flared and cropped at the bottom. You can combine seductive blouses made of light fabrics with them. They can be quite open, for example, sleeveless, or made of transparent materials.
How to dress for a birthday party at the dacha?
How can you dress for your birthday if you decide to celebrate outdoors? Remember that your clothes should be elegant on the one hand, and very comfortable on the other. A universal option is fashionable jeans and a T-shirt with a bright and original print. Playful boyfriends with scuffs or sexy skinnies - choose what you like best. Or you can replace jeans with trousers with white stripes, which are extremely popular now. If there is a chance that the weather may turn bad, then take a denim jacket or long cardigan with you.
A dress - a shirt - is another great option for celebrating a birthday in the country. The colors in fashion now are blue, gray, and pink vertical stripes. And don’t forget about comfortable shoes: sneakers, slip-ons, ballet shoes or sandals.
How to dress for a birthday at home?
If you decide not to go anywhere and have fun at home, this does not mean that you need to look simple and boring. Never greet guests in a robe or teddy suit unless you are having a pajama party! In this case, the best option would be a medium-length cocktail dress or skirt, an original blouse or a white shirt. If you are planning a themed party, then choose clothes that fit the overall style of the holiday. For example, for a retro party you can wear something from your grandmother’s chest, for example, a polka dot dress or a pleated skirt, and for a Hawaiian-style holiday, bright T-shirts and short shorts are suitable.
How to dress for a friend's birthday?
How to dress properly if you are not acting as the main hero of the occasion, but as a guest? Following etiquette, you need to choose an outfit in which you will not outshine the birthday girl. Therefore, before creating your own image, it is advisable to find out from your friend what she plans to wear to the celebration. You can opt for the same dress - a sheath or an A - silhouette dress. Models made of lace look especially attractive and elegant. If you can’t decide on a color, then wear a black dress; you’ll look appropriate in it on any venue. Tapered trousers and a blouse made of thin and flowing fabric are a good option for celebrating a birthday in a nightclub. If a friend invited you home, then when choosing clothes, avoid anything too bright and shiny. For a restaurant, choose a formal but elegant dress. But it’s better not to wear a floor-length dress, since the birthday girl herself will probably choose such an outfit; let her be the queen of the ball. But for nature, the eternal classic is suitable - a stylish tracksuit or jeans with a T-shirt.
