We often hear about someone: “How old she is!” But getting old is normal. It’s just that some people do it beautifully, while others don’t do it very well.
The term better aging (translated from English as better or better aging) appeared recently thanks to Professor Jacques Proust, a pioneer in the field of biology of aging. The philosophy behind this approach is simple: we need to accept that aging is inevitable . And that means that there is no need to disguise it, it should be presented beautifully.
Adherents of graceful aging do not refuse salon treatments and do not throw out scarlet lipstick and pink mascara on the day of their 50th birthday. They just don’t try to look younger than their age: they don’t mask wrinkles with a thick tone, they don’t do fillers where they won’t help. Instead, they select care according to age and postpone “old age” naturally. We definitely support this trend, and we want to share the main secrets: what is it like to age gracefully?
Healthy lifestyle
It is important not to prick your face with Botox and fillers, creating the illusion of youth. Adherents of “better aging” fight the cause, not the effect. Smoking, alcohol, a sedentary lifestyle - all this affects our skin. Wrinkles appear faster, and excess weight puts stress on the joints. Have you noticed how young people who play sports look? Do overweight people seem older than their age? The basis of better aging is physical activity, self-love, and regular health checks. Jacques Proust explains that any organ ages due to a decrease in load and function, drawing a parallel with the rusting parts of a broken car. By moving, you prevent the parts from rusting, although this becomes a little more difficult with age.
Positive thinking
Thousands of books have been written about the power of thought and psychosomatics. And if we believe that we are already old and frail, this is reflected in our appearance. Better aging teaches you to accept yourself with gray hair, wrinkles and age spots. This is fine! We can't fight time. It is much more pleasant to spend time in the company of a positive person than with someone who is once again afraid to smile, so as not to provoke the appearance of wrinkles. Korean scientists from Seoul National University and Yonsei University conducted a study on the relationship between thinking and longevity. It turned out that people who are young at heart retain a clear mind and memory until old age.
Personal care
Moisturizing and nourishing the skin is not pampering, but a necessity. The philosophy of the new trend involves taking care of every part of the body and asks you not to forget to apply cream to age-identifying areas. Apply the cream not only to the face, but also to the décolleté, neck, earlobes and knees. People who age gracefully choose their care according to their age. A follower of better aging would rather abandon fillers that give a new shape in favor of laser resurfacing. And all because the latter stimulates natural tissue regeneration, and not artificial volume.

Is aging gracefully an art or a gift from heaven?
And here it doesn’t matter at all who, how and why determine the moment of the onset of aging. Some argue that the aging of the body begins from the moment of birth, some define this moment at the age of 25-30 years, others at 39 years, and there are also optimists who define this moment at 50 years of age.
Of course, these are the kings of Hollywood and even if they do not wear long robes, crowns, weapons and shields, there is no doubt that each of them still has magnetism, charm and their own, sometimes old-fashioned style.
But the battle against old age, in any case, is doomed to failure, and in my opinion, one must grow old gracefully, nobly and with dignity, since the human essence does not change with age.
Each person is repeatedly given a choice throughout his life between matter and soul, between low and high needs, and those who initially choose matter automatically drop out of the ranks of applicants for happiness and harmony. Those who chose the soul remain participants in this main marathon of life. I am not at all an opponent of everything material; I will say more - I accept matter by 50%, but precisely through the harmony of the soul - to material independence. Discover your inner world for yourself (this is painstaking and difficult work), but do not forget about your body. And if you even just come to the gym and do push-ups a couple of times, then you love yourself (both soul and body), then this self-love of yours (not to be confused with a “narcissist”) will be transferred to your body. You can lift weights like crazy, build muscle mass, but it won’t cover up your mental imbalance and complexes, no matter how hard you try. This is an example on a person, and here - only through the soul to the body, and not vice versa. Well, the time has come to tell you my version of self-love. There is an attitude - egoist! Being selfish (i.e. loving yourself) is considered bad in society. Live by the commandment - “love your neighbor as yourself” (an interesting phraseological presentation in which the emphasis is on love for your neighbor). However, it turns out to be a paradox in which people endlessly flounder - how can you love your neighbor if loving yourself is not good? If being selfish is wrong? Personally, my conviction is to first become 100% selfish, to reasonably love both your soul and body. And only through full-fledged love for yourself can you give the same full-fledged love to all people! It’s impossible in any other way! It turns out differently - anti-love (i.e. hatred). !Leg Belcher “Skabyl”
Clothing and style
There is a time and place for everything. A 70-year-old grandmother wearing a denim skirt may look funny, but she’s not at all young. Her peer in a properly chosen elegant dress can easily subtract five years from her real age. But this is not done with the goal of rejuvenation. This is acceptance of yourself, your philosophy and respect for your life experience. At the same time, followers of the trend can easily wear a smart swimsuit to the beach, because it looks appropriate. There is no transition from one extreme to another, wear what you like and what highlights your strengths.

Is it the desire to attract an older audience, which, as we see, is ready to turn to the world of fashion, or simply the desire to create an unusual advertising campaign?
Jackie O'Shaughnessy, 60
If Lanvin advertising even with an 82-year-old model looks quite traditional, the scandalous American Apparel definitely attracted 60-year-old Jackie O'Shaughnessy for shocking effect. Jackie had not worked as a model before.
Here's what the brand says on their Facebook page: “When we first saw Jackie this winter at a New York restaurant, her appearance and energy were so attractive that we introduced ourselves and moved our chairs to her table. And during a long discussion about a variety of things, from career choice and nutrition to the basics of relationships, age and beauty, we asked if she would agree to be the heroine of our photo shoot.”
Daphne Self, 83 years old
Daphne Self first appeared on the catwalk more than 60 years ago.

I have time to take care of my skin and body. I do not smoke. I don't do Botox injections. After all, who in the world can claim to know for certain what exactly a woman should look like at 57?”
Marie admits that keeping herself in good shape requires a lot of effort and constant monitoring of her diet.
