Today I want to offer several unusual recipes for shrimp salad, which are prepared in Southeast Asian countries. These are Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia.
All of them are distinguished by their specific sweet and sour taste and always with hot pepper. Therefore, when looking at the composition of dishes, be guided by your preference for spicy food.
All presented products can be found in our super markets or replaced with similar ones to taste. For example, instead of Lax leaves, take mint and replace galangal with ginger. Try cooking and experiencing the taste of these countries.
Shrimp salad, step-by-step recipe with vegetables
Making vegetable and shrimp salad is not as difficult as you think, this is a simple Vietnamese version of the salad. The dish is very popular, so it can be used as a side dish at family parties or weekdays.
Ingredients for 3 servings
- Carrots – 1 pc.
- Lettuce – 200 gr
- Cucumbers – 2 small
- Lemon juice – 2 tbsp. l.
- Apple cider vinegar – 1 tbsp. l.
- Fish sauce – 1/2 tbsp. l
- Chopped garlic – 1 clove
- Honey – 1/2 tbsp. l
- Fresh shrimp – 450 gr
- A few roasted peanuts, finely chopped greens
How to make a vegetable salad
Step 1 Wash the shrimp and boil in salted water until tender (3-5 minutes). We clear the shell and head part.
Step 2 Cut the cucumbers into thin slices. Peel the carrots, wash them and cut them into strips. Rinse the lettuce leaves, dry them, and chop them coarsely.
Step 3 Prepare the sauce for pouring. Mix apple cider vinegar, fish sauce, lemon juice, honey, garlic in a bowl. Let's brew a little.
Step 4 Mix vegetables in a deep plate. Place the peeled shrimp, pour over the sauce, and mix well.
Step 5 Sprinkle with chopped roasted peanuts and herbs.
Step 6 Enjoy the taste of this light, aromatic and very tasty dish.
Thai shrimp salad recipe with vegetables
Thai shrimp salad is one of the simplest dishes that can be prepared not only for a holiday, but also for a family lunch or dinner.
Cooking time: 20 minutes for 4 people.
Composition of Thai snack products
For filling
- Non-bitter capsicum – 1 pc.
- Hot chili pepper – 1 pc.
- Kumquat – 50 gr
- Sugar – 70 gr
- Salt – 10 g
- Thai sauce for meat with vegetables – 20 g
- Galangal – 5 g or ginger
For the salad
- Shrimp – 400-500 gr
- Papaya – 1 piece
- 1 chili pepper (you can use a small sweet pepper)
- Kumquat juice – 1 tbsp. spoon
- Small ginger root
- Lime leaves and laksa (you can use a couple of lime wedges and a few mint leaves)
- Small shallot
- Vegetable oil – 30 g
- Lemongrass
- One small onion
- Roasted sesame seeds – 3 tbsp. spoons
- Chopped roasted peanuts – 2 tbsp. spoons
For the sauce
- 4 tablespoons puree filling
- 1 spoon fish sauce
- 1 spoon of water
- 5 grams sugar
Step 1. Prepare the ingredients
Boil some water in a small saucepan. Add washed chili peppers and a non-bitter pod. Boil the water for about 3 minutes, then remove the peppers. We cut them and remove all the seeds, chop them into pieces.
Preparing the filling. In a mixer we put 30 grams of a mixture of peppers, 50 grams of kumquat, cut into pieces, salt, sugar, 20 grams of Thai sauce for stewed meat with vegetables and a piece of galangal or ginger root. Grind until smooth puree. Add hot pepper to your liking.
We prepare the ingredients of the salad itself. Wash the shrimp thoroughly. Place a pan of lightly salted water on the stove, bring to a boil, and cook the shrimp in it.
Please note that the shrimp will be ready in about 2-3 minutes.
We take them out, let the water drain and cool. We remove the head part and the armor. Place on a plate and sprinkle with kumquat juice.
The tail part of several shrimps can be left in place to decorate the dish later.
We cut hot chili peppers into thin strips; for those who do not find a very spicy dish acceptable, you can use sweet peppers. Thinly slice the ginger and chop the greens.
Peel the papaya, grate the pulp with a Korean carrot grater, and finely chop the shallots. Mix the shallots with 30 g of vegetable oil and let it brew a little.
Peel the onion and cut it into quarter rings. Fry in a small amount of vegetable oil until golden. Transfer to a saucer, without oil, and let cool.
Step 2. Assembling the salad
In a deep bowl, combine shrimp, papaya, lemongrass, lemon leaves, laksa leaves, shrimp, onion oil and salad dressing. Add 2 tablespoons of toasted sesame seeds and mix well for 3-5 minutes to mix the ingredients evenly. Let it brew for another 5 minutes, then squeeze it lightly and transfer it to a plate.
Now add 1 tablespoon of fried sesame seeds, 2 tablespoons of peanuts and 2 tablespoons of fried onions, spread evenly on the salad. Finally, we make the sauce. Mix 4 tablespoons of puree filling, 1 spoon of fish sauce, 5 g of sugar and 1 spoon of water. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Step 3. Decorate and enjoy the food
Garnish with the reserved shrimp tails. Pour over the sauce. This sauce can be placed separately in a gravy boat and seafood can be dipped in it. I wish you success with this salad and bon appetit!!!
Delicious salad with shrimp and mango
Ingredients for mango salad for 4-5 people:
- 2 green mangoes
- 1 kg fresh shrimp
- 200 g pork belly
- 50 g dried shrimp
- dried onion
- green onions
- lemons
- Laksa (mint) leaves, garlic
- chilli
- 100 g roasted peanuts
- fish sauce
- sugar
How to make shrimp mango appetizer:
Step 1 : Prepare all the ingredients for the salad.
Peel the mango and grate the pulp into the fibers using a Korean carrot grater.
Shrimp and meat, dry with paper napkins. Peel the roasted peanuts and finely chop them, but not to powder.
Boil dried onions, a couple of finely chopped garlic cloves and 50 grams of dried shrimp in a small amount of water for 2-3 minutes until soft, then puree with a blender.
Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes in salted water, then cool and clean. Set aside.
Boil the meat until cooked, cut into small long pieces.
Step 2: Putting together a delicious salad.
We use a large, deep bowl. Add cooked shrimp, chopped meat, mango fiber, dried shrimp puree, mint leaves, a clove of finely chopped garlic, chili to taste and peanuts. Mix well.
Add a little fish sauce, sugar and the juice of one lemon. Mix well and then sprinkle with a handful of chopped green onions.

- 1 lime,

- 2 tbsp. spoons of olive oil,
- ground black pepper to taste

How to make shrimp salad - step-by-step recipe:
- If you use frozen shrimp in the shell to prepare the salad, they need to be thawed and peeled.
- Chop the garlic and rub it with spices and salt.
- Squeeze the juice from the lime and add to the garlic.
- Pour the garlic-lime marinade over the shrimp and let them sit for 20 minutes.
- Then fry the shrimp in olive oil, stirring, for 3-4 minutes.
- Chop the green onions and all the herbs. Leave only a couple of branches for decoration.
- Finely chop the chili pepper.
- Peel the orange and remove white membranes and cut it into small slices.
- Place chopped herbs, chili pepper, orange slices, a scattering of red caviar on the dish, and shrimp along with the marinade on top.
- Drizzle the shrimp salad with olive oil and serve.

- 1 green papaya
- 1 lemon
- 300 g bacon
- 300 g black tiger shrimp
- 2 carrots
- 1 onion

- Vinegar
Preparing vegetable salad with shrimp
Step 1 : prepare the products
Pour cold, clean water into a small saucepan, add a little sugar, squeeze out the juice of 1 lemon and throw in a few ice cubes.
Peel the papaya, wash it, and then grate it into long fibers using a Korean carrot grater. Then transfer to cold water. Peel the carrots and chop them into fibers, like papaya, add a little sugar and mix well. Peel the onions and cut them into small cubes. To reduce the smell of onions, add a little vinegar and granulated sugar to it. After a few minutes, strain it and squeeze it lightly. Wash the basil leaves and laksa, chop finely. Rinse the bacon with salted water. Clean the shrimp, remove the black thread and rinse.
Step 2 : Place the bacon in a pan with water with a little sugar, salt and a little vinegar and cook until done. Then we take it out, cool it, and cut it into thin pieces.
Step 3 : Cook the shrimp in a saucepan in boiling water for 3-5 minutes until tender. Then we take it out, let it cool a little, and cut it in half.
Step 4 : Prepare the sauce for pouring: combine sugar and fish sauce in a 2:2 ratio, add chopped garlic, squeeze out lemon juice. Stir until the sugar dissolves. You can add a little salt.
Step 5 : Combine the meat, shrimp and about 1 teaspoon of the prepared sauce in a bowl, let it brew for about 5 minutes.
Step 6 : Add onions, carrots, take papaya out of the water, squeeze it lightly and put it in a bowl, pour a tablespoon of sauce and mix well. Try the salad, it should taste sweet and sour (add chili if you like spicy food).
Finally, sprinkle the salad with roasted peanuts and herbs, adding a little more sauce if necessary.

Caesar salad with shrimp
An interesting variation of the famous salad. It will delight you with its taste and will especially appeal to seafood lovers.
Ingredients:
- lemon juice – 35 ml;
- romaine lettuce – 40 g;
- pepper;
- Parmesan cheese – 35 g;
- salt;
- tiger shrimps – 12 pcs.;
- olive oil – 25 ml;
- liquid honey – 20 ml.
Sauce:
- egg – 1 pc.;
- pepper;
- mustard – 10 g;
- salt;
- lemon juice – 20 ml;
- Worcestershire sauce – 5 drops;
- olive oil – 20 ml;
- anchovy fillet – 60 g;
- vegetable oil – 40 ml.
For croutons:
- bread – 60 g;
- Provençal herbs – 4 g;
- salt;
- olive oil – 35 ml;
- garlic – 3 cloves.
Preparation:
- Thaw the shrimp, then rinse. Dry on a napkin.
- Place seafood in a container. Add some salt. Pour in honey, lemon juice and olive oil. Sprinkle with pepper, preferably freshly ground. Mix. Leave for half an hour. Place on a napkin again and dry.
- Heat olive oil in a frying pan. Add the shrimp and fry until the seafood becomes completely matte. Cook on maximum flame. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
- Now you need to prepare the croutons. To do this, chop the garlic cloves. Mix with olive oil. Leave the mixture for a couple of hours. Strain.
- Slice the bread. The pieces should be small. Pour the garlic oil into the pan. Add bread and fry. Transfer to a baking sheet. Add salt and sprinkle with Provençal herbs.
- Place in the oven. Dry at 180°C. The pieces should become crispy.
- Grate Parmesan. Mix all ingredients for the sauce.
- Tear the salad with your hands. Mix with sauce. Place croutons on top and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Add shrimp. Pour over the sauce. Serve immediately otherwise the croutons will become soggy.
To make lettuce leaves crispier and fresher, immerse them in cold water for an hour.
