The fashion for colored tights is cyclical. In 2020 they are again at the peak of popularity. If you think that colored hosiery is only suitable for girls under 14 years old, then you are mistaken. Burgundy, blue or mint shades go well with a formal dark dress or a plain skirt and add a touch of playfulness to a business look.
It's Complicated. What do you wear with the most fashionable tights of the season?
Here, according to the weather, of course, it’s more logical to elevate leggings with fleece into must-haves, but we’re stubborn. Well, I also wouldn’t mind getting sick with something that has infected the entire fashionable world. I'm talking about complex tights: mesh, polka dots, lace and just plain colored ones. It is these four positions that are now fighting for leadership in fashion Instagrams and street style collections. At the same time, fashion has developed in such a way that one has to forget about the usual approach to these tights. They now, you know, have a new stylistic face - and, accordingly, different ways to wear them. This means there is a reason for fasting.
Of course, I would like to start with something less soapy on my eyes, but there are no options. Fishnet tights
have reached such hellish popularity that apparently just a little more and they will even be included in the office dress code.
The most important thing we need to know about them: now the mesh on the legs is not a story about sex, but rather about grunge. Therefore, it is recommended to wear them with anything other than a beauty’s work outfit. Moreover, if the outfit contains some semblance of a sexy bottom, then the brutal trend requires balancing it with an anti-feminine top. And vice versa.
From this grunge subtext, the most popular duo now emerged - mesh tights with holey jeans. It’s hard to imagine more bows on request. So, maybe I wouldn’t write about it - but in our weather it seems to be the most wearable option. That's why we use it.
For those who find this option too fashionable, you can do the simpler thing and excuse yourself with mesh socks. I recently posted my one-love made of calcedonia on Instagram, but the decor is the least important thing here. You can easily play with brand trends with ordinary fine mesh socks.
Getting rid of a long-out-of-fashion wardrobe
But to my own surprise, what gave me the most aesthetic pleasure this season was not holey jeans paired with mesh, but oversized knitwear. A chunky knit sweater dress paired with motorcycle boots and black mesh tights looks absolutely stunning!
For those who have a question about comfort, here is a life hack: noble fashion 2020 approves of putting mesh as a second layer on other tights. In this case, you can distort it up to the grid on the grid. So fantasize to your heart's content:
And we moved on. Now about my personal favorite. Not so must-have, but also quite trendy - polka dot tights
. With them, the story is the opposite: they were a symbol of retro and naive romance, but essentially became a new mesh. In the sense that now outfits with polka dots look much sexier and more mature. Since polka dots are still inferior to mesh in terms of trendiness, there was no replicated recipe “how to wear” with them. Basically, with anything. The only note to make the task easier: no matter how you slice it, the polka dots will still smell a little bit like Olivier girls’ styles. Therefore, I would add at least a drop of romance to any outfit as a stylistic support for tights.
The most difficult option among the current must-haves is lace tights
. Their emphasis is much higher than that of the same grid. The stylistic line is thinner. Plus they sit on different legs in a much more ambiguous way. Therefore, to be honest, I still have more questions than answers regarding their use for everyday purposes. There is a very high risk of going too far:

The first and third outfits turned out great, because the sexiness of lace tights is restrained by skinny legs and, although feminine, still strict clothes.
But in the central outfit, dramatic sexuality was on display, and the tights were even more exaggerated. I overdid it in short. But you can still draw a couple of useful conclusions for this season for those who want to wear lace on their legs. Firstly, it’s definitely better to mix tights with non-textured clothes made from the smoothest fabrics possible - this way there won’t be too much with the stylistic center of the outfit. Secondly, I would wear midi length items for this look. By the way, this is exactly what happened in most of the fresh catwalk looks:

This way there is less chance of messing up with vulgarity, plus a guarantee of an adequate appearance on your legs. I even look askance at Olivia Palermo in a lace miniskirt. I suspect that in the format of our streets it would look much worse.
In short, decide for yourself. And we still have the last must-have for today - colored tights
. In general, they began to gain popularity last season (we already started discussing them here), but apparently after the next Balenciaga collection, everyone completely lost their minds on this matter. Especially regarding the idea of making shoes and tights one whole.
Multiply this by the main color of the season (red grenadine) and you get the recipe for the main hit: red tights with red shoes. If you do all this in the total-look format, then you will automatically pass the test in sucomodology sciences and you don’t have to come to the exam.
But in principle, you can just as successfully play with any shade from the autumn Pantone palette (we have a selection of looks on Instagram) or diversify your base. In short, there is something to practice with.

Everyone, without exception, considers stockings sexy, however, they are much less practical and comfortable to wear than tights with imitation stockings. The trend for them came to us from Japan, where tights for girls are an integral attribute of any look. If you like to catch admiring glances on yourself, then choose this option. If you wear them with a long sweater, you will get a very delicate look, and if you wear them with an office skirt, you will get the image of a strict but femme fatale.
Tights with patterns autumn-winter
Stockings and high-top boots always add a touch of elegance and sensuality to your look.
But both the first and second elements of the ensemble can be replaced with tights. Tights with a stocking pattern or models that imitate over-the-knee boots are fashionable accessories that allow you to look great. Unlike stockings, tights with such a pattern will never cause discomfort to their owner. There is no need to constantly adjust them or worry about whether the clasp holding the stockings on the belt has come undone.
