Every girl strives to look perfect, but for a number of reasons, sometimes achieving the desired result can be difficult. For example, vellus hair on the face of women can bring a lot of problems - it would seem that they are soft, barely noticeable, but they make the image less attractive.

In the photo - facial hair

Today we’ll talk about what causes the appearance of facial hair and how exactly to deal with it. Our instructions for using certain methods will definitely help you get rid of this problem.

Causes of hair appearance

First, let's look at the main causes of facial hair in women. In particular, there is a high probability of disturbances in the secretion of sex hormones - testosterone, which provokes the growth of shoots.

And it appears not only on the face, but throughout the body:

  • on hands;
  • on foot;
  • on the chest;
  • lower abdomen;
  • around nipples, etc.

There are several reasons for the appearance of hairs or fuzz

But there are other reasons for the appearance of facial hair:

  • heredity - if the mother or grandmother had the same problems and they are in no way related to hormonal changes;
  • ethnicity - among women of southern nationalities, unwanted growth is common. This is explained by the activity of solar radiation;
  • taking certain groups of contraceptives;
  • hormonal changes during adolescence.

What if it's hyperandrogenism?

If hair appears on a woman’s face unexpectedly, and she has never had such a problem before, then it is imperative to consult a qualified doctor. Since the appearance of hair may be a problem of hyperandrogenism.

Hair on the face may indicate real health problems

Note. Hyperandrogenism is a sharp increase in the amount of male sex hormones in the female body. The disease can appear for many reasons.

For example, due to an ovarian tumor. Therefore, it is so important to seek help from a doctor as quickly as possible in order to undergo a full diagnosis and identify the true cause of the appearance of hairs, not to miss the development of a dangerous disease and to begin its treatment in a timely manner.

Hyperandrogenism can be accompanied by a host of different and extremely unpleasant symptoms and manifestations:

  • excessive activation of secretions from the sebaceous glands;
  • changes in the menstrual cycle;
  • problems with conception;
  • problems with pregnancy;
  • loss of hair on the head;
  • uncontrolled weight gain directly in the upper body, etc.

Note. Men also suffer from a similar disease. But it is manifested by a drop in the amount of male hormones, which leads to the appearance of certain female characteristics. For example, stopping the growth of facial hair.

Therefore, we strongly recommend that you seek help from a doctor as soon as possible in order to reduce the risk of developing more serious diseases.

How to get rid of vegetation

There are several ways to effectively get rid of growth. These include folk remedies for facial hair in women, which are easy to apply with your own hands. We'll talk about them in this section.

There are many ways to get rid of vegetation

Lightening

This method will not remove facial hair, but will make it invisible against the background of the skin. So, at home you can use a three percent solution of hydrogen peroxide. You can buy it at any pharmacy, and its price is minimal.

Peroxide is used as follows:

  • moisten a piece of cotton wool or bandage;
  • wipe areas with hair;
  • after five minutes, rinse off the peroxide;
  • repeat the procedure daily until you achieve the desired result;
  • After some time, the hairs will not only become discolored, but will become much thinner.

Hydrogen peroxide will help lighten your hair

Note. If you are afraid that peroxide will lead to skin irritation, it is recommended to mix it with shaving foam. Apply the mixture to problem areas for twenty minutes, after which it is washed off. After rinsing, it is recommended to treat the skin with a nourishing cream.

Removal

If we talk about removing growths, it is difficult to single out just one method.

Because there are several different methods:

  • efficiency;
  • cost;
  • level of pain.

For example, three hair removal methods are expensive, but also effective and painless:

  • laser;
  • electro;
  • photo.

Modern removal methods are painless, but incredibly expensive

But none of these methods can be implemented at home. Therefore, you need to focus on other methods.

For example, we can highlight shaving - a method that is simple and painless, but has a lot of side effects:

  • hairs become thicker;
  • they darken more noticeably;
  • You will have to shave them every day.

Shaving is not the best solution

The second fairly common method is plucking.

But it also has certain disadvantages:

  • increased skin irritation;
  • the appearance of scars;
  • thickening of hairs and their more active growth.

Note. Plucking can only be done if there is a minimum amount of facial hair. And if they are at a certain distance from each other. Although this will still provoke their subsequent thickening.

Why do some women grow hair on their chests?

On our project. More diseases. Ordering medications. First aid. Ask a Question. Hair grows on the face and neck. Recently, 6 months ago, I was diagnosed with autoimmune thyroiditis, hypothyroidism, and decompensation. I take Eutyrox, my TSH has returned to normal.

For women, chest hair is not as rare as it might seem. Most often they appear during puberty, but in fact this can happen later if some hormonal disruptions have occurred.

Epilation at home

Considering all of the above, we recommend sticking to hair removal with sugar or wax.

This method allows:

  • remove hairs from the roots;
  • significantly slow down hair growth;
  • make them thinner.

Waxing

To perform waxing, you will need special wax. You can purchase it in virtually any cosmetic store or beauty salon; the price of this product is relatively low.

Wax is sold in two types:

  • in tablets;
  • in plates.

Waxing can be done independently

To obtain wax of the required consistency, tablets or plates should be melted over a fire, and then, using a special stick supplied with the wax, applied to areas of skin with hairs.

After application, you need to wait a little until the wax hardens and remove it from the skin with your fingers - the hairs will be removed along with the wax.

Note. To reduce pain, wax should be applied to the skin in small, separate strokes. They also need to be torn off one by one. In order to prevent possible skin irritation after wax removal, lubricate it with cream - preferably nourishing and moisturizing, for example, baby cream.

As practice shows, after wax hair removal the growth does not appear for at least two weeks, or even a month.

Sugar is a great alternative to wax

Sugar hair removal is performed in similar ways:

  • pour sugar into a thick-bottomed bowl;
  • put on fire and melt the sugar;
  • apply it to the hairs with a thin stick;
  • wait until it hardens and remove with your fingers.

Both methods are quite simple, although somewhat painful. However, they also have one drawback. Repeated epilation can be carried out only if the length of the hairs is at least five millimeters.

Methods for getting rid of facial hair

Professional methods for getting rid of facial hair

Laser hair removal

This is one of the most effective ways to say goodbye to excess facial hair. During the procedure, the hair follicle is destroyed. This happens because the energy is absorbed by the melanin that contains the hair.

When choosing this method, keep in mind that several procedures will be required to destroy all the hairs. After one procedure, dormant hair follicles remain under the skin, and when they wake up, hair begins to grow again. Therefore, you need to attend several procedures. It is impossible to give an exact number, since everything depends on the individual characteristics of the client.

Remember that the laser will not remove hair that is too light and is contraindicated for tanned skin.

Photoepilation

This method is similar to the previous one. It also destroys hair follicles. Their destruction occurs using photothermolysis. The method has a number of undeniable advantages: it is universal, non-invasive and extremely effective. But the procedure still has a drawback: the course of procedures is quite long and can even last a year. The degree of effectiveness of the procedure is directly dependent on the quality of the lamps and the skill level of the specialist who performs it. The method is not suitable for gray or overly blond hair and tanned skin.

Electrolysis

It is also a very effective method in the fight against unwanted hair. The destruction of hair follicles occurs by applying electric current to them. With high-quality equipment and highly qualified specialists performing the procedure, you can be sure of the durability of the effect: unwanted hairs will not make themselves felt for a very, very long time. By the way, electrolysis has no contraindications that are typical for the two previous methods. It can be carried out on tanned skin, and on any hair, even the lightest shade. However, the procedure has one drawback, which will be very significant for many: it is quite painful. In addition, complications often arise after it, for example, scars may remain in the areas of the procedure or skin pigmentation disorders may occur.

Methods to combat facial hair at home

As you can see, there are many opportunities to get rid of facial hair with the help of professionals. But what to do if there is no financial opportunity or time to visit beauty salons? In these cases, you can try to fight hair at home, solely on your own. You probably won’t get the same stunning effect in a fairly short period of time as in a salon, but it’s still worth a try. Many of these methods are quite effective and may be able to help you get rid of the delicate problem completely.

Removal using tweezers

One of the most popular ways to combat unwanted hair at home. If you have already resorted to this method, you have probably noticed that the problem only gets worse: the hair at the site of removal becomes much darker and thicker. This happens because the root is not removed, but only damaged. This means that in just a few days the hairs will grow back. In order to remove hair roots and not damage them, pull out hairs one at a time and strictly in the direction of their growth. Please note that removing hair with tweezers is a rather unpleasant and painful procedure, and it will also take a lot of time.

Epilation with wax

Perhaps it can be called the most effective of the existing methods of fighting hair at home, since the hairs are removed from the roots. As a result, hair growth becomes much slower, the thickness of new hairs becomes noticeably smaller, and the length is reduced. If you perform such depilation, new hairs will appear no earlier than in a couple of weeks, and if you are more lucky, then only in a month.

You should remember that you can repeat the procedure only when the length of the new hairs has reached 3 millimeters. It is for this reason that this method will not suit every girl.

The procedure is carried out according to the following scheme: wax is applied to the area of the skin from which hair needs to be removed; when the wax hardens, it simply needs to be separated from the skin with a sharp movement directed in the direction opposite to hair growth. Along with the wax, the hairs will also come out.

Hair removal wax is sold in the form of tablets and bars. To use it, you need to melt it in a water bath and apply it to the skin with a stick specially designed for this purpose, which is sold complete with wax.

Please note that this procedure is very painful, and therefore should not be performed on large areas of skin. Perform the procedure gradually, this will make it much easier to endure the painful sensations. Please be aware that skin irritation may occur as a result of the procedure. To avoid this unfortunate outcome, apply an emollient cream to the skin immediately after epilation.

By the way, there are also wax strips on sale that will save you from having to melt the wax and apply it. The strip just needs to be glued to an area of skin and sharply separated from the skin in the direction opposite to hair growth.

Sugar sugaring

In terms of technique, the procedure is almost identical to wax hair removal. The only difference is the product used: sugar is used instead of wax.

Sugar can be melted over low heat in a regular saucepan with a thick bottom. During the process, the sugar must be stirred constantly. Once the sugar has melted, wait until it cools to the optimal temperature and apply to areas of skin with unwanted hair, just like wax. When the sugar has completely crystallized, it should be torn off from the skin along the hair growth (this is the main difference between sugar sugaring and waxing, since during the waxing process the wax was torn off, directing it in the direction opposite to the hair growth). By the way, the direction of hair growth significantly reduces the likelihood of ingrown hairs appearing on the skin. You don’t even have to waste time preparing sugar paste for the procedure, since it is commercially available.

Removal with a razor

We don’t even know why we are introducing you to this with this method. We will simply demonstrate it as an example of the worst idea for combating the problem.

The method attracts women with its simplicity. And indeed, compared to the previous ones, it couldn’t be easier! Without unnecessary hassle, without pain, quickly, with just a couple of light movements, the razor relieves you of the problem. What miracles! But in fact, nothing miraculous: behind the external simplicity of this method lies a whole bunch of problems. First, be sure that you will have to repeat the procedure almost daily. Secondly, shaved hairs are replaced with new ones with phenomenal speed. Thirdly, they thicken significantly, lengthen and darken. Fourthly, you can’t avoid skin irritation from such a dubious procedure.

As you can see, any method of getting rid of hair at home has its own list of advantages and disadvantages. Only you can choose it yourself. Being familiar with all your individual characteristics, you can choose the most optimal of the above methods for yourself.
