Lazy cabbage rolls are prepared from cabbage, minced meat and rice. You can give them any form at your discretion. Some housewives cook them in the form of large cutlets. And those who are even more eager to reduce cooking time take the necessary ingredients, simply chop them and simmer them in the oven, in a saucepan, in a slow cooker, or in a frying pan.
This dish, for example baked in the oven, has another good advantage compared to the traditional one (with a whole leaf of cabbage). But the fact is that children, although not all of them, do not really like stewed cabbage leaves; they open them, eat the meat filling, and put the leaves aside. There is no need to unwrap anything here, since the cabbage will already be cut into small pieces and it will be almost invisible in the cutlets, which is quite suitable for little capricious children.
So, now I will tell you recipes for making lazy cabbage rolls, which are illustrated step by step with photographs. And of course, for those who missed the previous recipe for beef kebab with the most delicious marinade.
How to cook lazy cabbage rolls in a frying pan
Ingredients:
- Minced meat – 450 gr
- fresh cabbage - 300 gr
- onion - 1 piece
- carrots - 1 pc.
- rice - 1/2 cup
- egg - 1 pc.
- sour cream - 150 gr
- tomato paste - 1 tablespoon
- dry spices - 2 pinches
- salt and ground black pepper - to taste.
Cooking method:
First of all, rinse the rice thoroughly, fill it with about 1.5 cups of cold water and boil until half cooked, not forgetting to add a pinch of salt.
Next, we take fresh cabbage, and I’ll immediately say that if it is hard, then to soften it is better to pour boiling water over the leaves that we will use for about 5 minutes, then drain the water, squeeze out the leaves a little and chop them the way you like best, into cubes or strips and add to the minced meat.
We transfer the cooled rice there and beat in one egg.
Peel the onion and cut into small cubes, grate the carrots on a medium grater and add to the rest of the ingredients. Add salt, pepper and your favorite spices, then mix thoroughly.
For the sauce, we need to mix tomato paste with sour cream and add 100 ml of water and bring until smooth.
Place a frying pan on the fire and pour a couple of tablespoons of water into it. We begin to form cutlets or small balls from the minced meat. And place them in one row in a heated frying pan.
All that remains is to pour the sauce we prepared over the cutlets, cover with a lid, reduce the heat to low and simmer in this way for 40-50 minutes.
And of course, during the extinguishing process, periodically check the liquid level; if it is low, then you need to add a little water. The most important thing is that our cabbage rolls do not burn.
The dish is ready, serve it to the table.
Stuffed cabbage rolls in sour cream and tomato sauce
For this recipe for lazy cabbage rolls in the oven, you can use either tomato paste or fresh tomatoes.
The unusual combination of “airy” sour cream with tomatoes gives the dish an interesting, rich taste. Ingredients:
- minced beef or pork – 550 g;
- white cabbage – 580-620 g;
- rice – 120-140 g;
- chicken eggs – 1 piece;
- sour cream – 140 ml;
- tomato juice or paste – 130 ml;
- sunflower oil – 2 tbsp. l;
- salt, seasoning.
Boil rice cereal until soft, about 7-9 minutes. Peel the onions and grind together with the minced meat through a meat grinder.
Now finely chop the white cabbage and mix with the minced meat.
Also add boiled rice and chicken eggs, salt and pepper and knead well to form a firm and elastic mixture.
Wet your hands and form large cutlets or “sausages” from the resulting mixture.
Place them on a baking sheet greased with sunflower or olive oil and place in the oven for 18-20 minutes - this will allow them to “set” and hold their shape well.
For the sauce, mix tomato juice or paste (previously diluted with water) with sour cream. If desired, you can add fresh chopped dill or parsley. Remove the pan of cabbage rolls from the oven, pour over the sauce and bake for another 35-45 minutes.

Recipe for making lazy cabbage rolls in a slow cooker
The following recipe is for those who have a slow cooker. If you are on first name terms with her, then the process will go easily and quickly. We will prepare cabbage rolls with traditional tomato and sour cream filling, as in previous recipes.
Ingredients:
- 500 g minced meat
- 500 g cabbage
- 80 grams of rice
- 1 onion
- 1 egg
- 1/3 bell pepper
- Salt
- Pepper
- Oil for frying
- Flour
- Ketchup - 2 tbsp
- Sour cream - 2 tbsp
Preparation:
This time we won't cook the rice. Just rinse it with water and pour boiling water for 10 minutes to soften it a little.
Finely chop the cabbage and pour boiling water over it for 10 minutes to soften it.
Combine and mix minced meat, rice, finely chopped onion, cabbage. To bind the components together, break the egg here. Add salt and pepper (a couple of pinches at a time) and mix well with your hands until smooth.
Then we form cutlets from the minced meat and roll them in flour.
Adding an egg to the mixture allows it to hold its shape and not fall apart.
Now the cutlets need to be fried. Set the microwave to “frying” mode, pour a little vegetable oil into the bowl and wait for it to heat up.
When the multicooker beeps that it is ready, add the cabbage rolls into it. But not all at once, but in one layer. A standard bowl holds 5-6 cabbage rolls.
Close the lid, wait two minutes, open it and turn the cutlets over. Close the lid again for two minutes.
If all the cabbage rolls do not fit in at once, take out the finished ones and fry the next batch.
Frying is necessary so that the cabbage rolls do not lose their shape during stewing.
When the whole batch has been fried, turn off the “frying” mode and put all the cabbage rolls into the multicooker bowl. Sprinkle finely chopped bell pepper on top.
Here we also pour tomato-sour cream sauce, which is obtained by mixing ketchup with sour cream and diluted in one glass of warm water.
You need to add enough sauce to the slow cooker so that it covers the top layer of cabbage rolls to the middle
Close the lid, set the baking mode and set the time to 45 minutes.
After 45 minutes, open the lid of the multicooker, place the cabbage rolls on a plate, and pour the filling on top.
Bon appetit!

Ingredients:
- minced meat – 850-950 g;
- white cabbage – 430 g;
- wheat cereal – 110-120 g;

Cut the onions into small cubes or mince them, then mix with minced meat. Add wheat porridge and chicken eggs, salt, pepper and season with paprika.
Knead the mixture well with a spoon and roll into oblong cutlets or round meatballs - according to your taste. Place them on a baking sheet pre-greased with vegetable oil. Separately, prepare a dressing from sour cream, tomato sauce, garlic, pressed through a garlic press and spices, add water and mix well.
Pour the sour cream and tomato dressing over the cabbage rolls, cover with a sheet of food foil and place in the oven for half an hour.
After this, take out the baking sheet, remove the foil and bake the fragrant dish for another 18-23 minutes.

Lazy cabbage rolls in layers in the oven
The result is a kind of layered lazy pie with minced meat, cabbage and rice. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it.
Required:
- Cabbage - a small fork.
- Minced meat from any meat – 400 gr.
- Sour cream – 150 ml.
- Rice - a glass.
- Onion - head.
- Bell pepper.
- Butter - a tablespoon.
- Tomato paste - spoon.
- Tomatoes - a couple.
- Pepper, paprika, salt, meat spices, vegetable oil.
How to cook:
- Remove the stalk from the head of cabbage and place it in a pan of boiling salted water. Boil for 5-7 minutes, as you do for regular cabbage rolls, so that the leaves come off easily. Drain the liquid from the fork, cool, and separate into leaves.
- Make the filling. Cook the rice until half cooked. Fry the finely chopped onion until transparent.
- Mix both ingredients with the minced meat, pepper, salt, and seasoning for meat (leave half the onion for the other filling). Mix the mixture thoroughly.
- Separately, cut the tomatoes and peppers into cubes, add them to the frying pan with the remaining fried onions. Add butter. Fry the vegetables together for a couple of minutes.
- Then pour a little water and simmer the filling for 10-15 minutes. Add the tomato, stir, let it boil and turn off the burner.
- Divide the prepared cabbage juices into 4 parts.
- Coat the bottom of a medium-sized pan (2-3 liters) with oil. Place some of the leaves to make a pillow.
- Spread out a third of the minced meat, pour in sour cream, and smooth out.
- Next, lay the next layer of leaves. Layer again with the filling and so on until the ingredients run out. The top is covered with leaves.
- Pour water and place in the oven. Cover with a sheet of foil and bake at 180°C for about an hour. After 20 minutes, take out the pan and remove the foil.
