If it turns out that there is mashed potatoes left over from yesterday's dinner, then you should use it, it will be the best option.

  • We grind the beef through a meat grinder, add finely chopped onions, as well as salt and pepper, into the minced meat, and mix.

  • Now fry the twisted meat in a frying pan. To enhance the taste, you can add rosemary, cumin, garlic, and basil. To make the filling juicy, add a little water, and so that it does not crumble, add semolina.

  • Take a baking dish, grease it with butter, sprinkle with flour or breadcrumbs. Add one part of the puree, then the meat filling and cover the minced meat with the remaining crushed potatoes.

  • Level the surface of the potato layer, make small indentations into which we pour melted butter.

  • Place the form with the contents in the oven for 15-20 minutes, temperature 200 °C.

  • Serve the finished casserole with herbs, sour cream or mushroom sauce.

You can also use boiled meat for the filling, but it still tastes better if you use raw meat, fried with vegetables and spices.

  • Finely chop the onion and pour it into a frying pan with heated oil, saute until soft, and then add the minced meat, stir, break up all the meat lumps. Then add vegetable or meat broth and simmer for 10 minutes.

  • Drain the water from the finished potatoes; by the way, it can be used for frying meat if there is no broth. Add butter, add milk, beat in the egg and beat.
  • Cut the tomatoes into circles, grate the hard cheese and mix it with finely chopped dill.

  • Place the first layer of puree into the prepared pan, add the meat filling on top, and cover with potatoes. Then lay out the tomatoes and sprinkle with cheese and herbs. Place the casserole in the oven for 20 minutes, temperature 200 °C. We take out the finished dish, cover it with a towel, wait 10 minutes and serve.

For casseroles, it is better to use varieties of potatoes that boil well. Then the puree will turn out airy and tender without adding milk. And if there is nothing extra in the puree, then the casserole will not fall apart when cutting.
